Chapter 76: Chapter 11: Zetsu's Retreat

Crash!

As walls crumbled around them, thick wooden branches surged forward like an unrelenting tide. Deidara's clay butterflies exploded one after another, halting the advance. With the support of his clay termites, they barely managed to hold off Zetsu's attack.

"Ah, no more thoughts about poop—I need to focus! The enemy's about to escape!" White Zetsu's cheerful voice echoed from the shadows.

Clapping his hands together, a massive tree trunk, resembling the tentacle of a beast, surged forth. It smashed through countless walls before crashing heavily toward the running trio.

The attack was so blatant that even Deidara, not particularly known for his sensory skills, noticed. His steps abruptly halted as he tossed out small clay spiders, which exploded to carve out a hole in the floor. He dropped to the level below, shouting,

"Rin! Kabuto! Down here!"

The others followed swiftly, descending into the lower level. But the situation only grew worse. The wooden tendrils seemed alive, pursuing them from all directions and launching relentless assaults.

"Seiryu-sama, this Wood Release is too strong—we might not make it out," Kabuto said, slicing through a branch with his chakra scalpel. Several cuts adorned his body, and though a medical ninja, he had no time to heal himself.

"Follow me, I've got a plan." Deidara didn't even glance back, scattering more clay spiders.

"Drink this!"

Deidara sprinted through the corridors, detonating his clay creations to clear paths like a desperate fugitive.

"Running around like a headless chicken? You'll get caught eventually, you know!" White Zetsu teased from the shadows, his voice lighthearted yet ominous.

Was Deidara truly running aimlessly? Of course not.

With each explosion, Deidara forced White Zetsu to cause further destruction with his Wood Release, effectively turning the hospital into an empty shell. If White Zetsu wanted to maintain his disguise, he had no choice but to use his jutsu to reinforce the crumbling structure.

This worked perfectly for Deidara, giving him room to unleash even more potent clay explosives.

C1: Termite Swarm!

Deidara released a wave of clay termites, quickly followed by another creation.

C1: Beavers!

The beavers gnawed aggressively at the wood, working alongside the termites. When they couldn't chew through, they self-destructed, buying Deidara precious time.

"These critters sure know how to eat! Do they poop after eating?"

"They shouldn't. Like me, they're creations, not living things," White Zetsu mused to himself, strengthening his Wood Release. "But I'll just make the wood tougher—let's see how they deal with that!"

Deidara noticed the change immediately. Wood Release was a technique with vast potential, in the hands of a master like Hashirama, it could suppress the Nine-Tails and withstand Susanoo. But in White Zetsu's hands, it wasn't nearly as formidable.

"Rin, Kabuto—you're medical ninja, so your sensory skills should be better than mine."

Deidara's tone sharpened as he spoke. "I'll force the enemy to use stronger Wood Release techniques. Use the opportunity to pinpoint his location. Once we find him, we'll eliminate him directly."

As he spoke, ten clay clones emerged, identical to Deidara. Creating human-shaped clay constructs was child's play for him now.

The clones scattered, blending with Deidara, and took different paths at every fork.

"Uh-oh! Which one is real?" White Zetsu exclaimed in mock distress. "Oh well, I'll just destroy them all!"

For White Zetsu, controlling Yamato's body with White Zetsu's enhancements, basic Wood Release was effortless.

Wood Release: Nativity of a Sea of Trees

Though a weakened version of the Deep Forest Emergence, it was still terrifying. The hospital's interior was obliterated, and countless branches created an oppressive, pitch-black forest.

Despite the overwhelming attack, Deidara only smirked. Victory didn't hinge on escaping; his plan had a second layer: getting close to White Zetsu.

If White Zetsu wanted to maintain his anonymity, he'd have no choice but to retreat. And if Deidara played his cards right, he might even secure a sample of White Zetsu's cells to aid Orochimaru's research on Hashirama's DNA.

C2: Ten Thousand Snake Array!

Hissing echoed as thousands of clay snakes slithered down the reinforced wood, their explosions piercing even the enhanced defenses.

Deidara landed beside Rin and Kabuto, his gaze sharp. "Have you found him?"

"Yes, Seiryu-sama!" Kabuto's precision was evident as he pointed in a specific direction. "The chakra's coming from over there—the enemy's real body is hiding there!"

"Good. Let's move!" Deidara commanded, and Rin followed quickly, a hint of guilt in her eyes for lagging behind earlier.

"Oh no! They're heading right for me! Did they figure it out?" White Zetsu exclaimed dramatically before retreating into a large tree.

"Seiryu-sama, the chakra signal's gone," Kabuto reported. White Zetsu's ability to blend was unparalleled once he stopped using ninjutsu.

"Don't worry," Deidara said calmly. "As long as we know the general area, it's enough."

C1: Giant Pythons!

Two enormous clay serpents surged from Deidara's palms, coiling around the target zone.

"Art is an explosion! Hah!"

The detonation sent a fiery shockwave through the area, with White Zetsu's Wood Release serving as an unintentional shield for Deidara's team.

White Zetsu was blasted out from his hiding spot but suffered little damage. However, seeing Deidara closing in, his panic rose.

"What do I do now? If Deidara sees me, it'll be trouble!"

At that moment, Black Zetsu emerged. "Retreat. You've lost this round."

By the time Deidara reached the spot, the enemy had vanished, leaving nothing but the aftermath of the clash.
