Chapter 205: Chapter 205
"Even a mere kid dares to fight me now?"
"Unbelievable!"
Shusuke Ito glared at Ron, feeling his anger growing.
"Kid, you're stepping up to fight me?"
"Do you really think that just because I'm injured, you have a chance?"
"What happened earlier was just an accident."
"I'm an A-rank Nen user."
"And you're nothing but a C-rank brat."
"Before, you hid behind Dominica's protection and spouted nonsense. But now, here in the arena, Dominica can't protect you!"
"Or are you just here to buy time like that decrepit fellow?"
"Trying to buy Dominica time to recover at the cost of your life?"
"You're not from the Fiore royal family. Is this even worth it for you?"
Ron looked at Shusuke Ito calmly and shook his head.
"No, I just think killing you won't be very difficult."
Ron stepped forward.
Crawford's eyes flickered momentarily.
"Shusuke Ito, don't overthink it. Just do your job. Whether he dies or not, that's his problem," Crawford said.
Shusuke Ito turned to glance at Crawford, their gazes meeting briefly.
Just as the Colosseum was about to teleport Ron and Shusuke Ito to the arena, Shusuke Ito suddenly retreated.
Crawford stepped into the teleportation spot instead.
Crawford looked across at Ron with a smile.
In Crawford's mind, this was the best course of action.
While Ron wasn't particularly strong, he had some level of ability.
Against the severely injured Shusuke Ito, Ron might actually wear him down a bit.
Even if Shusuke Ito managed to defeat Ron, it would only further exhaust him.
In that case, Shusuke Ito's ability to challenge Dominica would be greatly diminished.
However, if Crawford himself faced Ron, he could crush him completely without any effort. (t/n Not gonna lie that was smooth)
But just as Crawford and Shusuke Ito swapped places...
*Clap!*
A figure behind Ron clapped their hands.
In an instant, Ron switched places with Dominica.
The one teleported to the arena was not Ron, but Dominica.
Crawford froze, staring at Dominica across from him.
Meanwhile, Shusuke Ito's face lit up with joy.
To Shusuke Ito, this turn of events was perfect.
If he had faced Dominica, there was a high probability he'd die.
But now, Crawford was facing Dominica first.
Either Crawford would kill Dominica, or Dominica would kill Crawford.
In either case, Shusuke Ito saw a much higher chance of surviving.
"Dominica!"
Crawford's expression turned dark as he glared at Dominica.
In contrast, Dominica's face remained calm and composed.
"Begin," came the call, setting the stage for a fierce confrontation.
The battle that ensued was far more intense than any that had come before. Both participants were of a notably higher calibre, and their combat showcased their formidable skills.
"Gyo!" Ron focused intently on the fight from his position, understanding that observing a battle between high-level Nen users could offer invaluable experience.
For Wendy, the situation stirred more worry than educational interest. Dominica had already been through two tough fights and was not at his best, even after some rest. Yet, he was now facing Crawford, the strongest member of the Hawk Squad, in an evenly matched struggle.
Ron kept his eyes glued to the action, assessing their techniques. "Both are incredibly strong. I'm no match for them. The difference between them and someone like Shusuke Ito is immense. Shusuke was stronger than Cook, but Crawford was even stronger than Shusuke. And Dominica in turn is even stronger than Crawford. I wonder how Dominica would compare to Uncle Silva?"
Silva Zoldyck, a pivotal figure of the Zoldyck family, had taken on more responsibilities as Zeno stepped back. Dominica, a top figure from the Fiore royal family, presented a formidable challenge as well.
As the fight drew to a conclusion, the arena had been turned to ruins. Both fighters were visibly exhausted and covered in wounds, each having pushed the other to their limits. They gasped for breath after each collision, their bodies flying in opposite directions after the final impact.
A moment of stillness followed, with everyone in the vicinity holding their breath.
Slowly, a figure rose to their feet.
Wendy's eyes lit up, "Uncle Dominica!"
Shusuke Ito's expression darkened.
Taking a deep breath, Dominica approached the prone Crawford and gathered his remaining strength into his fist, delivering a decisive blow.
"Bang!"
With no defence and still unconscious, Crawford took the hit and twitched once before going still, signalling the end of his life.
A beam of light shone down on Dominica, and the next moment, he was teleported back to the contestant area.
Shusuke Ito stared at Crawford's body, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.
"Crawford is dead."
"But that doesn't mean I'll lose!" Shusuke Ito glared defiantly across the arena. "Dominica has no more fight left in him. Those kids aren't a threat either. No matter who comes up next, the victory will definitely be mine. I've recovered quite a bit during my rest. This, in fact, turned out to be the best scenario for me."
"I can fight three times in a row and still emerge as the victor. I will be the only one to walk out of here alive. These people will all die. This way, I have fulfilled my duty."
"After today, I owe nothing more to the country of Taris. I can leave and go somewhere no one knows, to improve my Nen."
"From today onward, I live for myself."
"Besides, I can take this thing!" Shusuke Ito surveyed the arena. The setup had taken Crawford by surprise, but Shusuke found it highly advantageous.
One-on-one in the arena. Absolute separation in the contestant area. Yet, those in the arena can strike at those in the spectator seats, and vice versa. In this scenario, Shusuke Ito held the absolute advantage. This item was a godsend for a Nen user like him!
