The Strongest Trainer with His Relaxed Life

Chapter 16: The Strongest Trainer with His Relaxed Life : 16. Big News

They chatted for a while, sharing stories about their recent experiences—Brian and Jeremy catching 200 Pokémon, and Leon's team discovering the Ice Stone and Metal Alloy.

"In the end, it looks like only the Ice Stone will be up for sale—and even then, only as a rare item, once a month," Leon sighed.

"It can't be helped. Everything in this small world is too valuable," Fiona replied.

....

Breno Region, Reldon City — the city where the Alliance headquarters was located.

Inside a laboratory, two professors and their assistants were busy at work. Their eyes lit up with excitement, and their hands trembled—they had finally succeeded.

"Hahaha! Chiaki, our research has finally paid off!"

"Yes!" Chiaki laughed. "The theory that Pokémon possess different quality levels is true—and we've successfully developed a device that can detect them!"

"Let's report this to the leader right away," said Jackob.

"Haha, absolutely."

...

That evening, while Brian's family was eating dinner with the TV on in the background, a major news story broke—one that would shake the entire world.

"Look!" Ann pointed. "That sounds just like your ability."

"Yeah, Brian," Fiona added. "That's exactly what you do."

The news reported that Professors Jackob and Chiaki had successfully developed a device capable of detecting a Pokémon's quality. The device would soon be distributed across all eight regions.

Brian leaned back thoughtfully. "This could actually work in our favor."

"What do you mean?" asked Leon.

"Did you forget, Dad? The small world can raise a Pokémon's quality. So whatever we sell will always be above average."

Leon nodded, realization dawning. "Right... if we say the Pokémon we're selling have Gym-level or even King-level potential, people will be able to verify it themselves now."

On the official Alliance website, a detailed explanation was posted regarding the newly discovered Pokémon quality system. According to the announcement, Pokémon are classified into seven quality tiers—from lowest to highest: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Gold.

The explanation further stated:

Red quality Pokémon can only grow up to level 15, suitable for Beginner-level trainers.

Orange can reach level 30, ideal for Junior trainers.

Yellow can go up to level 45, for Senior trainers.

Green can reach level 65, which aligns with Gym Leader or Master-level standards.

Blue can grow up to level 75, considered King level.

Purple Pokémon can reach level 90—Champion level.

Gold quality Pokémon are believed to reach even higher levels, possibly comparable to the legendary Pokémon that nearly destroyed the world during their epic battle.

Beneath the announcement, the comment section quickly filled with reactions:

Panty-Pants:"What the hell? So that's why my Pidgey can't evolve? Because it's Red quality?"

BoyClever:"Hisss, that actually makes sense. My Abra's been stuck at level 15 for ages. I thought it just needed time, but now I'm kinda crushed."

BookCrime:"Whoa, you have an expensive Pokémon. How much did that cost?"

BoyClever:"150,000 Alliance Coins."

BookCrime:"LOL. Poor guy."

PushMe:"If you think he's pitiful, what about me? [uploads screenshot]"

BookCrime:"GG! Axew's a Dragon-type—minimum worth 1 million Alliance Coins!"

Skylaw:"GG."

Glesss:"GG."

Dsrk:"GG."

Yeloww:"GG. Congrats on hitting the jackpot!"

Some people felt hopeful, while others saw the news as disheartening—they struggled to accept the truth that their Pokémon might not be naturally gifted.

At the Arca City Police Station, Brielle had been following the news closely. Deep down, she was worried—what if her sister's Boltund wasn't talented? The thought made her uneasy.

"Boltund…" she murmured sadly.

"Hough, woof!" Boltund seemed to sense her mood and nuzzled closer, trying to comfort her.

"Boltund, even if you're not naturally gifted, I'll never leave you. Even if I make new friends, you'll always be the one I love the most."

"Woof!" Boltund barked joyfully, clearly reassured by her words.

Meanwhile, in another City, customers who had purchased Pokémon eggs from Brian—and those who had bought Weedles—were eagerly awaiting the new device, excited to see whether Brian's claims would prove true.

"Dad, do you think my Surskit really has Gym-level potential?" Jimmy asked.

"Haha, I believe so. That Brian kid doesn't seem like the type to lie. The device should arrive at the Pokémon Center within a week. We'll find out soon enough."

"Yeah!" Jimmy nodded eagerly.

In a house in Cebu City, another trainer was observing his Pokémon in the backyard.

"Well, Weedle's already reached level 11 and evolved into Beedrill," said Lude, watching Beedrill buzz energetically around the garden. "But I'm still curious if the seller was right about it reaching Senior-level potential."

A week passed, and a long line formed at the Pokémon Center in Arca City.

"Whoa, there are so many people here to check their Pokémon's quality," Jimmy said in awe.

"Of course," Bross replied. "Everyone's curious now."

They joined the queue and received number 20.

"Hey, look—that's Miss Bella Adan!" said a passerby. "She's about to get her Pokémon scanned."

"What do you think their quality is?" asked another.

"Probably green," the first replied. "I heard she was the top graduate at her school, and the prize was a Gym-level Pokémon. She's now a student at Light University in Light City—one of the top nine universities."

"Yeah, that checks out."

Bella stepped forward confidently and released three Pokéballs.

Out came Bulbasaur, Bellsprout, and Chikorita.

"Please scan these three Pokémon," she said politely.

The staff scanned them, and the results appeared on the screen: Bulbasaur and Chikorita were green-quality, while Bellsprout was yellow.

The crowd, which had been buzzing with anticipation, erupted in excitement.

"As expected—two green-quality Pokémon!"

Bella smiled with satisfaction, knowing this would bring her one step closer to reaching her father's level.

After her, several trainers stepped up, but only one yellow-quality Pokémon showed up. Then it was Jimmy's turn.

He nervously brought out his Surskit for scanning.

The result? Green-quality.

The crowd reacted with surprise once again.

"Wait—another green-quality Pokémon? Who's that kid?"

Jimmy and Bross grinned from ear to ear. Brian had been telling the truth all along—his Surskit really was green-quality, with the potential to reach Gym level in the future.
