Team No. 33 Leng Yue from Peking University and Chen Xiaoxiao from Shencheng have officially secured the runner-up position!"

The ever-energetic Host A.J concluded the round excitedly!

The stadium erupted into thunderous cheers! Applause cascaded through the stands like a roaring tide!

Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue calmly exited the field.

Meanwhile, Team No. 8 Yang Wen and Yang Wu though defeated, would have to challenge the next group in a third-place decider to determine their final placement.

"Next up, let's welcome Team No. 47!"

Host A.J's voice echoed again.

In the following round, Yang Wen and Yang Wu maintained their Ghost-type theme.

This time, however, they sent out even stronger Pokémon than Mismagius and Spiritomb Gengar and Gourgeist.

Gengar's fast, unpredictable nature made it a menace on the battlefield, while Gourgeist's diverse movepool provided excellent support.

But ultimately, one was weak to Psychic, and the other weak to Ice clearly explaining why they hadn't been chosen in the earlier battle against Team 33.

"The siblings from Team 47 I think they're Electric-type specialists, aren't they?" Chen Xiaoxiao asked, glancing at the Pokémon lineup.

"It seems so. I remember seeing them send out all 'Lei'-named Pokémon in their earlier rounds," Leng Yue responded thoughtfully, recalling past matches.

As the match progressed, both girls watched intently.

Although Yang Wen and Yang Wu had brought stronger Ghost-types, they were still outmatched by the synergy of Team 47.

Eventually, it was time once again for Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue to take the stage.

"Now we arrive at the grand finale! These two teams have already secured the runner-up and finalist slots but which team will seize the championship?! Let's bring out Team No. 33!"

Host A.J stirred the crowd once more with infectious excitement.

Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue returned to the battlefield under raucous applause.

"Let me reintroduce our finalists! On my left, representing Beihu Province Team No. 47, Lei Tian and Lei Yu!

On my right, representing Peking University and Shencheng Team No. 33, Leng Yue and Chen Xiaoxiao!"

A.J's voice echoed powerfully throughout the arena.

"In this ultimate showdown, what Pokémon will they choose? What kind of heart-stopping duel will we witness?

Enough talk let's get into action! Trainers, send out your Pokémon!"

The crowd held its breath.

"Let's go! Espeon!" Chen Xiaoxiao called.

"Come out, Glaceon!" Leng Yue declared.

Glaceon

Level: 55 (Quasi-Elite Advanced)

Type: Ice

Ability: Snow Cloak

"Come on out, Jolteon!" Lei Tian shouted.

Jolteon

Gender: ♂

Level: 57 (Quasi-Elite Peak)

Type: Electric

Ability: Volt Absorb

"And you, Flareon!" Lei Yu added.

Flareon

Gender: ♀

Level: 54 (Quasi-Elite Advanced)

Type: Fire

Ability: Flash Fire

"What's this?! All four Pokémon are Eeveelutions!

We've got Espeon the Psychic-type, Glaceon the Ice-type, Jolteon the Electric-type, and Flareon the Fire-type! Four different evolutions of Eevee! A.J is truly shocked!"

Even Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue were momentarily stunned by the perfect symmetry.

"What a coincidence! And they even brought a Fire-type? Trying to counter you, Xiao Yueyue," Chen Xiaoxiao smirked.

"Heh, and we've got Espeon out talk about a power move."

Leng Yue chuckled despite herself. Even though she'd evolved her Eevee slightly earlier than Chen Xiaoxiao, her Glaceon hadn't yet broken into the Elite tier.

Chen Xiaoxiao's Espeon, on the other hand, had been with her since the very beginning 10 years ago.

With Meowstic and Togekiss already Elite-level, how powerful was this Espeon, who'd been her longest companion?

She didn't even want to imagine.

"The trainers are in position... the final match begins!" A.J declared.

"Espeon! Use Psychic on Flareon!" Chen Xiaoxiao commanded.

The red gem on Espeon's forehead gleamed as psychic waves surged outward.

"Glaceon! Icy Wind on Jolteon!" Leng Yue added swiftly.

A bitter cold gust whipped out from Glaceon toward Jolteon.

"Flareon! Ember on yourself trigger Flash Fire! Then Sunny Day!" Lei Yu countered with practiced strategy.

"Jolteon! Protect! Get in front of Flareon!" Lei Tian barked.

The battlefield lit up as Jolteon dashed ahead, throwing up a shimmering Protect barrier in front of Flareon.

But

A high-pressure Psychic blast slammed into the barrier!

Boom!!

This wasn't a game.

In the video games, even a Level 5 Pokémon could sometimes Protect against a Level 100's move.

But in real battles — this wasn't turn-based fantasy. Power, level, and intent mattered.

Protect had its limits. And Espeon's Psychic completely overwhelmed it.

"Unbelievable! Jolteon's Protect was shattered by Espeon's overwhelming Psychic! In just the first exchange, Jolteon is knocked out!"

A.J narrated, almost breathless.

"What?!" x2

Lei Tian and Lei Yu stood frozen.

How strong was Chen Xiaoxiao's Espeon?!

Their strongest partner — a Level 57 Quasi-Elite Peak Jolteon — was knocked out with a single hit?

This wasn't just a gap — it was a chasm!

While they reeled from shock, the match continued.

Without Jolteon's Protect, Flareon was left exposed.

The Icy Wind that had originally targeted Jolteon slammed into Flareon instead, disrupting its Sunny Day prep and dealing light but effective damage.

Even with Fire resisting Ice, it wasn't immune — the damage and wind chill disrupted its rhythm.

Flareon staggered.

Lei Yu bit her lip and returned Flareon to its Poké Ball. Her eyes turned to Host A.J.

"Referee... we forfeit."

Her voice was calm resolved.

Because there was no point dragging things out.

Even Jolteon, their strongest Pokémon, couldn't withstand one attack from Espeon.

With only Flareon left clearly the weaker of the pair what were they supposed to do?

Throw her partner into a hopeless fight? Let her get knocked out, possibly hurt?

Lei Yu had too much pride and care for her Pokémon to allow that.

There was no shame in knowing when you're beaten.

Host A.J's voice broke the silence.

"Team No. 47 has forfeited! Team No. 33 Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue are the official champions of the Shencheng Invitational!"

The audience exploded.

And amid the cheers, as the confetti began to fall, the calm voice of Lei Yu muttered to herself, more amused than bitter

"Ethics? Heh… in the face of that kind of power? Doesn't exist."
