The Superior Female Lead Pampers Her Husband Without Limit

Chapter 11: The Superior Female Lead Pampers Her Husband Without Limit 11

"Is this the girl from the Xie family?"

"Little Papa, this is my wife. We're just visiting for a bit."

Xavi still called He Shi "Little Papa" like he did before getting married. After all, He Shi was just his mother's companion, and he couldn't bring himself to call him "Father" — not after how much hurt He Shi had caused his real dad in the past.

He Shi's face instantly fell when he heard that. This boy was still calling him "Little Papa" in front of the new daughter-in-law? How humiliating!

Everyone in the Nan family knew the head of the household spoiled Xavi. His real father had lost to He Shi back then!

But when He Shi glanced at Jewel, he noticed she was dressed in fine new clothes and carried a big, heavy-looking bundle. That meant the gifts for the visit probably weren't light. So he forced down his displeasure.

He knew now that Xavi was married, he wouldn't return home often. And if he did, it would just be to drop off gifts. There was no point in being difficult — not when there were benefits to be had.

"You must be tired from the trip. Come on in." He Shi opened the door wider and smiled. "Jewel, you're back home — there's no need to bring so much! That big bag must've worn you out…"

He welcomed them with a wide smile, but his eyes were glued to the bundle in Jewel's hands, trying to guess what was inside.

Jewel was speechless.

She'd just heard from Xavi about the Nan family and already knew He Shi was a smooth talker with a lot of schemes. Now, seeing how he only cared about the bag and not at all about Xavi, she really didn't like him.

Before she left, her father warned her that this He Shi wasn't easy to deal with… and now she agreed. Not just troublesome — downright annoying!

She followed Xavi deeper into the house without once showing any sign she was going to hand over the bundle. He Shi started to get anxious.

This girl from the Xie family really had no manners! He had been waiting all this time, and she still hadn't given him anything. Clearly, she didn't respect his place in the Nan family at all.

Did she even know that he was the most favored man in the house?

If she made an enemy of him, she was basically offending half the Nan family!

He'd only wanted to pick something nice from the gifts for himself. His wife wouldn't care — she always let him have his way. But he didn't expect this new daughter-in-law to ignore him completely and barely talk to him.

Just outside the main house, a strong smell of bitter medicine hit them.

Xavi looked a little worried. He wasn't sure how his mother was doing or how his father had been holding up recently…

Now he truly understood what people meant by "feeling more nervous the closer you get to home."

Jewel noticed the change in him. She gently put her arm around his shoulder and gave it a comforting squeeze. "Don't worry, Xavi. Your parents will be fine."

Xavi looked up at her, bit his lip, and nodded. Jewel stayed quietly by his side as they stood in front of the door.

Inside, He Shi went to tell his sick wife, Nan Qing'an, that Xavi and Jewel had come to visit. Zhang Shi, who had been helping care for Nan Qing'an, immediately lit up when she heard.

"Zhang Shi, hurry! Invite them in. Don't let them keep standing outside."

"He Shi, go to the fields and call Mingfeng back. Tell her to stop working for now."

Nan Qing'an sat up as best as she could, even though she was still weak. She couldn't get up herself, so she asked the two men to help out. She'd been terribly ill the past few days — her fever wouldn't go down, and everyone in the house had been scared out of their minds. They had no money for treatment, and her eldest daughter had been working outside just to support the family and put food on the table.

When the Xie family came to propose marriage the other day, her youngest son agreed to the match just to get the two taels and a half of silver for the betrothal. She had been unconscious at the time. It was only after receiving the silver and hiring a doctor that her health began to improve. When she was finally better, she found out her son had already accepted the marriage proposal with the Xie family…

She was a strong and capable woman, yet she hadn't managed to find a good match for her son. That thought weighed heavily on her heart. But now, hearing that her son and his wife had come back to visit, it meant the wedding had gone through successfully. The new daughter-in-law must be fine, and her son wouldn't be left a widower. If Xavi could live a stable and peaceful life with the Xie family's daughter, she would finally feel some comfort.

These past few days, she had no idea how her son had been treated in the Xie household. Was the new daughter-in-law kind to him?

He Shi, after hearing Nan Qing'an's words, left the house and walked to the field by the edge of the village.

Nan Mingfeng, the eldest daughter born to Zhang Shi, was now the backbone of the Nan family. She worked in a shop outside the village and helped in the fields whenever she had time.

The sun was already up, and most people working the land were dripping with sweat. But Mingfeng didn't seem tired at all. She kept lifting her hoe and turning the soil with steady, strong movements.

Zhang Shi missed his son dearly. As soon as he heard the mistress's orders, he hurried to the doorway. What he saw first was a beautiful young couple. The girl had a gentle, warm appearance, with kindness written all over her face. The boy was elegant and handsome, though there was a hint of sadness in his eyes as he looked toward the house.

Both of them were wearing blue — the woman in a deep shade that made her look tall and graceful, with delicate features, and the man in a lighter shade that made him look soft and composed, with a calm and gentle aura.

Zhang Shi stared at them for a long time without saying a word. His eyes turned red, and he smiled through tears that threatened to fall.

Xavi noticed his father's teary eyes, and his own tears started to roll down his cheeks.

"Papa…"

He raised his hand to wipe his tears, revealing a delicate silver bracelet on his wrist.

Jewel realized this was Xavi's biological father and greeted him with a gentle smile, "Hello, Papa."

"Ah… hello."

Zhang Shi quickly pulled himself together, holding back the tears in his eyes. When he saw the bracelet on his son's wrist and heard the daughter-in-law call him "Papa" so respectfully, he understood that Xavi was truly cherished by Jewel.

"Thank you for bringing Xavi all this way. Come in, come in."

"It's no trouble. I wanted to come," Jewel replied with a smile.

She led Xavi into the house and handed over the gifts they brought.

"Papa, here are some eggs and rice. Please take them. They'll help Mama recover."

In a farming family, it wasn't easy to have things like these. Zhang Shi knew how precious they were.

"This… this is too much!"

He looked at the heavy bundle in his arms and worried that Jewel might've brought all the food they had at home. What if her family wasn't happy about it? What if they blamed Xavi when they got back?

"Please take it, Papa. This is what we should do," Jewel said gently, helping him place the bundle down.

Zhang Shi looked at his daughter-in-law, calling him "Papa" so naturally and helping without hesitation. Warmth filled his heart.

This daughter-in-law seemed like a truly kind person. She looked like someone who cared for others, treated Xavi well, and respected his family. She didn't look down on them for being poor.
