The Tragic Hero In Remnant

Chapter 5: Red, Blue, And Yellow

"Ah shit how am I gonna land..." Corin, rather calmly, yelled to himself over the wind. 'Hey system, how likely am I to survive if I just tank the hit.'

[Use a defensive rune and your aura to make it look less suspicious. But 100% survival rate.]

'Cool.' Corins finger began to glow as he drew a defense rune on himself, then he focused on his aura, making it cover himself. 'Kinda annoying that I have to do all this... but you kno-'

Corins thought was stopped by a mild pain as he crashed through a tree, breaking it in half.

'Oops.'

Corin hit another tree.

And another.

And another.

And another.

And another.

And another.

And another.

Finally he stopped moving, as he had crashed into the ground creating a crater.

"Well... that sucked..." Corin deadpanned before looking at where he came from, a massive line of uprooted and broken trees. "...oops... really hope nobody was in there..." Corin pushed himself out of the crater, in the back of his mind he thought of Ruby for some reason... I wonder why.

When Corin finally got out of the crater he met eye to eye with a Grimm... "Fuck my luck." The Grimm raised its claw and slashed down onto Corin.

A loud crack sounded as the grimms clawed broke due to Corin's defense rune was still activated.

"...Oops?" Corin sighed before he unsheathed his spear and instantly stabbed the grimm right through, causing it to fade away. 'Should I deactivate the defense rune?' Corin thought to himself.

[Nah, keep it on. It'll be funny.]

Corin shook his head and continued into the forest.

"Wait where am I going?" Corin deadpanned.

Meanwhile, on the cliff Corin had just almost shattered. Ozpin and Glynda were looking at a bunch of screens that showed all the different future students of beacon.

"Hm, it seems that there are only three students left that are not in a team." Glynda brought one of the screens forward which showed a blue haired spearman scratching his head, a white haired archer shooting grim from a tree, and a blonde swordswoman? that was slicing? through a bunch of Grimm with an unseen weapon. "I suppose they will be pre-excluded from the exam. We can bring them ou-"

"No." Ozpin shook his head, "They will find each other and will be our first three person group, they are too excellent of talents just to leave be. Our world needs heroes, and these three seem like they are perfect for the job."

Glynda looked at Ozpin confused, "I don't understand Ozpin, they are just... well kids. They don't even have that good of a background."

Ozpin sighed, "It seems you don't understand. In this case let's make a bet, these three kids will make a move that shall shake the world; one as big as the shattering."

Glynda looked at Ozpin appalled now, how would three kids cause an event more important than whatever happened to their moon.

With Corin again, he began to move again.

'I really hope it's this way...' Corin wistfully thought to himself.

Corin had to walk because the system had told him that if he ran it would prevent him from finding a partner. Which, sadly, was a requirement for passing.

Corin came upon a large clearing, leaving the forest and entering the clearing Corin stretched, finally able to get some real sun. "Ah that feels better..."

Corin heard ruffling from two areas in the forest, he pointed his spear at the forest, ready to impale whatever Grimm would come through.

But right before he thrusted his spear he heard a disgustingly familiar voice.

"Don't fucking stab me." The voice that came from the woods was the voice of Archer. From Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works.

"Who are you? What's your name?" Corin scowled.

"Bite me, what's yours." Archer's voice growled.

"Mario Mario, first name Mario, last name Mario." Corin sighed. "This fucking can't be real"

"No way..." another familiar voice came from the other portion of the forest, the feminine voice of a familiar Saber.

The two left the forest, and now three Fate Servant lookalikes were in the clearing.

"Shiiittt..." Corin sighed before flopping on the grass of the clearing. "Just my luck..."

The saber look alike looked at Corin and the Archer look alike, "Are you from an-"

"DONT!" Corin shot up and covered the mouth of the saber look alike. "Don't... finish that sentence." Corin pointed at the floating cameras.

The archer look alike sighed. "It seems we are all in a similar situation."

"Yep..." Corin sighed, "...God that felt disgusting."

"Agreed." The archer look alike said.

Both Corin and the archer look alike resisted the urge to throw up.

"We need to stop agreeing on shit." Corin said breathily. "Anyways, we should probably introduce ourselves."

"Yeah, I'm Silvia Sterling, I seem to be... saber. I am an... Epic Hero... if you get my gist." Silvia glanced at the floating camera.

"Why the extra info?" The archer look alike sighed, "Anyways, my name is Atlas Vesper. I am an archer and a Reluctant Hero."

'Why would you complain about the extra info then give the same info?' Corin sighed, "My name is Corin Lockheart, I am a lancer and a Tragic Hero."

Both Atlas and Silvia winced. ""Sorry man.""

"It's not that bad..."

[You are so lucky that you technically didn't reveal the system.]

'I know.'

"Anyways, I don't have a partner, do y'all?" Corin leaned against his spear.

""Nope.""

The camera drone lowered to be face to face with the trio, Ozpin's automatic voice came from it. "You three will be each others partners, have a nice day." The drone flew higher.

"...well that answers that question." Corin sighed.

"Well then, let's go find whatever Kirei Kotomine rip off chose as the artifact." Silvia smiled.

Atlas sighed, "So you also got that vibe?"

"Jesus the dudes really giving us all that vibe?" Corin shook his head.

The trio headed further into the forest, looking for another clearing that might hold the artifacts, slaying Grimm along the way.

Corin stabbed at a fading Grimm, "Why is it so damn hard to find this 'artifact.'"

"Hmm..." Silvia hummed to herself in thought, "Atlas, you have good sight right?"

"Huh? Yeah, duh." Atlas deadpanned.

"Go onto that tree and look for any clearing" Silvia pointed at a large tree in front of them.

"...Well don't that make sense." Atlas sighed, jumping onto the tree.

"...He's gotta be from the south." Silvia sighed.

"...As long as he doesn't make a hitler reference I don't care." Corin leaned against his spear. He glanced at the invisible weapon in Silvias hand. "So you gonna fight with your 'faithful bow' without the invisible air any time soon?"

"Not unless it's necessary." Silivia looked at her own weapon, "it's... it's an interesting weapon isn't it..."

"Truly. All of our weapons are." Corin looked at his spear, running his finger down the side of the weapon, "so what's your 'semblance.'"

"Aura blade, you?"

"Runes."

"Bet Atlas's semblance is weapon creation."

"Probably."

"It is." Atlas could be heard as he fell gracefully from the tree. "Anyways, the artifacts are this way." Atlas pointed towards the north.

"Nice! Good job! Thanks Atlas!" Silvia smilled, giving Atlas a thumbs up.

Atlas faced away, "Your welcome Silvia..."

'...oh... oh my god... he's crushing on Silvia... this early? Oh my god...' Corin was astounded.

[He may have just liked Saber in the original world...]

'Yeah... I... sure why not.' Corin sighed before following the Atlas and Silvia further into the forest. "So, atlas, you uh... got any marbles..."

Atlas looked back at Corin, "...yes, but I haven't seen enough weapons to make it useful. Considering I only came in with my bow, caladbolg and Kanshou and Bakuya. The only real weapon I've seen so far is your spear, Corin. And I don't have enough 'aura' to use it."

"Ah, so you're useless for now." Corin smirked.

"Not as useless as you." Atlas grumbled.

"Hey, I can use my noble phantasm, you can't." Corin snarked, 'I can use my noble phantasm right?'

[Yes.]

"Hey, I can use my NP, It just won't be- you know what, I'm getting the idea that Archer and Lancer are destined to hate each other."

"Hey you two, don't start fighting each other." Silvia scolded playfully.

'It does not feel right hearing that tone from that face...'

[True that.]

Atlas was using a basic sword to cut through the foliage like they were in some sort of jungle movie.

"Mate, there ain't that much foliage." Corin deadpanned.

"Shut it!" Atlas yelled, before whispering to himself "it looks cool."

'No it looks sad.' Corin thought.

Corin stabbed a Grimm that had tried to sneak attack them.

"Hey Bite Me, how far away are we?" Corin asked.

"Not to far, we'll be there soon." Atlas cut through some foliage, "and by soon I mean now."

Atlas moved into the clearing in front of them, where ruins were spread out with chess pieces on pedestals.

Not one of the chess pieces were missing.

"I suppose we're the first ones here." Silvia smilled, "that just shows our capabilities."

While Silvia smiled Atlas and Corin had tears in their eyes, why? Because they had the same thought. 'She's an epic hero so the plot is going to try its best to help her as much as possible...'

Silvia looked back at the two boys, "what's wrong with you?"

""Nothing..."" they both said simultaneously before getting a small headache.

Silvia shruged before walking up to the pieces, "Hmmm, let's go for this one." Silvia grabbed the king piece.

"Let's just get out of here as quick as possible, I feel like my lancer luck is going to try and fuck me over." Corin shivered.

"Good point." Silvia nodded, leading the newly formed trio into the woods back to Becon Academy.

As Corin left, he could faintly hear a few familiar voices, looking back he saw Yang and Blake entering the clearing.

'Good for them.' Corin thought before turning around and catching up with Silvia and Atlas.

Meanwhile, in a dark castle, a woman with pale skin with cracks running through it looks through a portal of sorts. "It seems Ozpin has gotten some strong allies, one with silver eyes but she seems to not know, and these three..." the woman pulls the portal like thing closer, looking at a white haired archer, a blue haired spearman, and a yellow haired swordswoman. "These three... have to go... before Ozpin indoctrinates them... before they become a problem."

The woman stands from her throne, looking at the seven humongous Grimm in front of her. "Xuanwu, go to beacon academy and kill these three. Come back alive and you shall be rewarded, die as you take them down and you will be regarded as a martyr."

"And a weakling." One of the other seven large Grimm whispered, for some reason they could talk.

"Silence." The woman glared at the Grimm, it simply nodded and bowed.

The woman waved her hand, causing a large portal to open in front of her.

One of the large Grimm seemed to nod before lugging its shelled body to the portal, its snake like tail seemingly bowed towards the woman before it went through the portal to beacon.
