The Tragic Hero In Remnant

'Shit… it hurts…' Corin groaned, rising up from the crater he had created. 'I hate this damn quest.' 

Corin whipped the blood off his face, looking at the large Grimm in front of him. 

With a turtle like body with a snake wrapped around its body, the Grimm had an overwhelming oppressive aura. 

'System, how is the quest completion rate now?'

[You're still the only person to be hurt for now.] 

'Good.' Corin grabbed Gaé Bolg and pointed it at the creature. "Atlas, how's your… thing… going" Corin yelled at the archer.

"Good so far!" The archer yelled back as he prevented a familiar blonde haired girl from getting closer to the monster. 

'How did we even get here…' Corin sighed as he dashed forward, joining the fight again. In the back of his head, he thought about what happened just seven minutes ago. 

He, Silvia and Atlas were walking through the forest, heading back to the cliff they had been launched off of. 

"So, we're gonna be a team huh?" Silvia laughed to herself, "Some of the strongest Fate/Stay Night servants on one team." 

"If it was the strongest, Herc or Gil would be here instead of irelands lapdog." Atlas said as he looked at Corin. 

"Low blow, and Cu is plenty strong." Corin looked away from the two as they looked at him with pity, "Have you not watched Tsiah IV's video 'don't sleep on Cu.'" 

""No."" Both Silvia and Atlas said at the same time. 

"Well fuck you. It's a good video." Corin whispered the last bit to himself. 

"…Is it just me, or is the sky darker?" Atlas pointed at the dark clouds quickly rolling in. 

"This spells disaster." Corin said with a deadpan.

Atlas and Silvia looked at Corin. ""It's your luck isn't it.""

"Bruh, you two are just jinxing it at this point." Corin scowled. 

A loud roar shattered the ears of the three heroes. From the sky, a large round portal opened up and a large Grimm fell from it. 

The Grimm had a black body that looked like that of a tortoise, its white bony shell gleamed in the limited light, Wrapped around its shell like a belt, a large black snake with white bone accents all across its body and sharp bone fin-like objects on its head. 

On the creature's tortoise head, it had a white bone-like helmet that let the monster's four eyes glare at the three heroes. 

[WARNING! WARNING!] 

The system blared in a loud automated sound. 

[LIFE THREATENING EVENT DETECTED!!!] 

[MAIN QUEST: Fight and kill the Sin Knight of Envy, Xiaowu without anyone but yourself being injured.] 

[Rewards and punishment will be revealed after the mission is completed.] 

[20% of Masters true potential has been temporarily unlocked to face this hurdle.]

[Good luck.] 

The Sin Knights turtle jaw unhinged, glowing red before a large ball of fire shot out from it. 

Silivia acted quickly, using her Air sword to displace the blast. 

Back to the present, Corin left his thoughts and charged towards the monster. 'Yeah… that's what happened.' 

Corin thrusted his spear forward, clanging against the Grimms' shell. Quickly using his spear shaft to block the snake head of the Grimm from biting him. 

From under the Grimm, Silvia slashed her sword into the underbelly of the creature, clanging off of it. 

"Nothing we can do is piercing it… Tch…" Corin sighed, dashing backwards. "The snake and the tortoise body work together in such a way…" 

"They cover each other's weaknesses." Silvia finished Corin's sentence. 

From a bit away, Atlas formed his bow, shooting arrows at the monster. 

Corin dashed forward with Silvia, blocking fireballs from the tortoise's mouth. Corin slashed his spear into the body of the monster, before dashing back again. 

Silvia slashed her sword at the monster again. 

'…the only way… at our level…' Corin prepped his body. "I'm using it." 

"As long as I get the last hit, it doesn't matter." Silvia nodded. 

'Theoretically, it would of two cores since its two different grimms… but at th-' Corin wasn't able to finish his thoughts before the snake's head slammed into his side like a flail. A sickening crack sounded from his ribs. 

[Battle Continuation has activated, pain has been temporarily relieved.] 

"Well at least that's one less thing to worry about." Corin gritted as he grabbed the snake's head, grasping it with his unarmed hand. "You got a bit far away from the turtle don't you think?!" Corin smirked before reeling back his arm. 

"YOUR HEART IS MINE!!! GAÉ BOLG!!!" Corin thrusted the spear forward. A audible rip sounded as energy surged through Corin's finger tips, the spear of mortal death, the Barbed Spear That Pierces with Death seemingly extended into the Snake, piecing it, searching for the heart of the snake, the tortoise body screamed out. 'Seems the pain receptors are connected.' Corin thought as the Snake bit into Corin's shoulder as a last ditch effort. Corin felt a poison enter his body.

[Temporary Skill Magic Resistance has nullified the poison of envy.] 

"Magic resistance. Bitch." Corin smirked as the Snake died. 

With Silvia, under the body of the turtle she gripped her now glowing sword before screaming "ATLAS NOW!" 

From Atlas's vantage point, he unleashed a famous sword. "CALADBOLG!!!" 

The arrow/sword launched towards Xiaowu. Hearing the sound of the arrow be unleashed Xiaowu looked up, revealing an open part in its armor on its neck. 

From under Xiaowu, Silvia swung her sword unleashing her Noble Phantasm "EXCAAAAALIBUUUUURRRRR!!!" Silvia roared out. 

The tortoise and the snake screamed in pain as they began to fade away. 

[Congratulations, You have completed a Main Quest.] 

[Congratulations, you have beaten a Sin Knight.] 

[Rewards are being distributed.] 

[Rewards: Skill: Magic Resistance granted, 8,000 Lien has been added to your bank account.] 

'Shits that's nice…' Corin thought before suddenly both Corin, Silvia, and Atlas all dropped, exhausted. "Shit man, do y'all feel like you've taken too much steroids too?" 

"Yeah…" Atlas grunted as he lifted himself up, hobbling towards Silvia, helping her up when he got to her. 

"Thanks atlas." Silvia smiled as she brushed her outfit off.

"You're welcome." Atlas rubbed the back of his head, smiling shyly. 

"As sweet as this is and all, can you help me up." Corin deadpanned from the ground.

"Help yourself up!" Atlas barked. 

"Kill yourself." Corin barked back.

"Bite me!" 

"Both of you stop, your fighting like dogs on opposite sides of the fence." Silvia sighed as she helped Corin up. 

"Trace on." Atlas chanted, summoning two Bo staff, handing one to Silvia to help them walk. 

"None for me?" Corin questioned.

"No." Atlas deadpanned. "You have your spear." 

"…" Corin looked at his spear on the ground before sighing, picking it up and using it as a walking staff, following Atlas and Silvia.

Two hours later, everyone was standing in the auditorium. Corin was covered in bandages. Which he had insisted they didn't need but when one of the nurses pointed out that he had a gash on his side that showed bone.

"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark." The screen of the auditorium shows each of their profiles as the boys are lined up for the applauding audience to see as Ozpin continues, "The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!"

The audience cheered while four students walked up to the stage to take their places in front of the headmaster as their faces filled the screen.

"Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR." Ozpin spoke. 

Amid the clapping, Nora laughs and gives Ren a hug. 

[They fu-] 

'Shut up.' Corin stopped the system before they finished. 

"Led by… Jaune Arc!" Ozpin gestures to said boy.

"Huh? L-Led by?" Jaune pointed at himself, surprised. 

"Congratulations, young man." Ozpin nodded.

Pyrrha, grinning, offers a friendly shoulder bump to Jaune, but her "fine leader" is knocked over and falls to his butt in front of the laughing audience.

"Next, our first three person team. Silvia Sterling, Atlas Vesper, and Corin Lockheart." Ozpin states as the three mentioned heroes walked further onto stage, standing as if nothing had happened two hours ago. "They retrieved the King pieces, from this day on, this team shall be named Team Sacred. Led by Miss Silvia Sterling. May your heroic journeys be bountiful."

Corin patted Silvia's back, smiling down at her as she smiled. "Good job Silvia." Corin whispered to her, selectively ignoring the last bit of Ozpin's introduction as a notification popped up in his view. 

[Main Quest Completed: Initiation.] 

[Rewards Being Distribution: 5,000 lien and skill Protection from Arrows has been granted.] 

The trio of reincarnated heroes walked back to the rest of the groups as Ozpin began calling out the next team. 

"And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long." Ozpin motions over the four as they stand before him, "The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" 

Weiss looked to Ruby, suprised as Ruby, in shock, is being hugged by her sister. 

"I'm so proud of you!" Yang squeezed her sister.

 Amid the cheering, Ozpin said this faintly. "It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year." 

Three people who heard him had one shared thought. 'Kirei Kotomine looking ass.' 

In another area, in a shadowy room filled with shelves and a desk in the back, where Roman Torchwick is getting a call on his phone. The muffled conversation ends, and Roman angrily slams the phone down, sighing. He holds a cigar to his mouth and puts his symbolized lighter to the end, just as a man in a gray mask and black hood comes with a trolley. Roman holds out a collection of Lien, which he places on the table and the man takes.

"Open it." The criminal mastermind said through a cigar.

The masked man does so with a crowbar, revealing a large amount of Dust crystals of varying colors - orange, blue, white, red, green, cyan, gold, yellow, and more. Roman picks up a blue gem in his hand and looks at the loot.

"We're gonna need more men…" Roman sighed. 

On the desk was a map, showing Vale and various districts and areas of crossed-out locations, all leading into a specially-circled place - Beacon.
