Chapter 281: The Elder Of The Manmeyer Family
[ Third Person POV ]
Manmeyer Manor
Another shockwave promptly engulfed the cell that Ken and the man were in.
The man had barely managed to block in time, and Ken's attack created a bit more destruction around the cell. Immediately after the shockwave ended, Ken was promptly kicked off the man as a bit of space was created between the two of them.
"You got quite a bit of strength packing behind those punches, young man; quite admirable," The man remarked as he slowly removed the tattered clothes that Ken had ruined with his previous attack.
"Powerful attacks mean nothing if the target isn't being affected by them," Ken replied.
Beside them, a chained-up Fishman coughed as he slowly stirred from his unconscious state. The chains that he had been shackled with remained firm, but they rattled when the Fishman realized the situation that he had found himself in.
"G-Get me out of here!" The Fishman pleaded as he struggled to free himself from bondage.
The Fishman was about to say something else, but the man swiftly plunged his fist in his chest. The Fishman puked a mouthful of blood right on the man's body, and the man promptly removed his fist from his chest, revealing that he had also removed the Fishman's heart in the process.
"Fucking Fishmen....bitching and moaning about freedom like they had any to begin with," The man snarled as he crushed the torn heart.
The lighting in the cell gave Ken the opportunity to get a better look at his new adversary. He was a rather robust man who looked late into his years. A mustache covered his face as his grey hair, which had been initially made into the traditional Celestial Dragon Hairstyle, had fallen rather lazily onto his shoulders.
His face, though lacking in blemishes, was replaced with a scorching gaze that tried to look right through Ken's gaze.
"Hm? You look flustered; perhaps you've never had a proper look at me ever since we began fighting," The old man promptly remarked as he tried flinging away blood off of his hand, "Well, bask in the glory of my presence. After all, you're looking at an elder of one of the most prominent families within Mariejois and a future head of the Family."
Ken didn't say anything, instead channeling bits of lightning in preparation for his next attack.
"Hm? Not one for introductions, I see. That's rather rude, but what should I expect from scum like you? you'll die soon anyway...so nobody will care."
Once again, the two men clashed within the broken-in cell. Ken would coat his fists with Armament Haki and lightning to strike and block Henry's attacks, and on the other hand, the elder had coated himself with Armament Haki and directly took on the blow.
On the other hand, the lady in question groaned lightly within Ginny's cell as she sat up from the ground. She had been unconscious for the most part, partially due to her untreated wound thanks to Saturn and also thanks to the sudden burst of Conqurer's Haki that had occurred previously before.
She was met with quite a shocking sight, with a rather well-dressed child lying on the floor unconscious, along with countless rubble and debris lying around.
On Ginny's far left, she could hear loud sounds of fighting as everything around her surroundings lightly trembled.
'I need to get out of here.'
She looked at her injured foot, and before she could move it, the elder crashed through the wall from her left and slammed into the wall on her right. Dust immediately engulfed the entire cell, leaving Ginny in a fit of coughing.
Immediately after, Ken appeared through the hole in the wall that the elder had just created, wiping a bit of blood off his mouth as he stared at where the elder was slowly getting up from. His attention momentarily shifted to Ginny, who had finally recovered from the coughing and was looking at him in a daze.
"You must be Ginny; the Commander went through a lot of trouble to get to you," Ken remarked.
"Oh? Do you know this woman? Perhaps I'll kill the both of you and allow you to accompany each other to the afterlife together," the elder proposed.
"You sure are good at talking shit, old man," Ken remarked before he kicked the ground and tried to land a kick right on the side of his head.
The elder managed to raise his hands and block the attack, but once again, the impact of the blow ended up sending him flying through the walls of the cell.
Seeing that the elder was no longer within the vicinity. Ken quickly turned to look at Ginny.
"It's more than obvious that you're injured, so don't bother yourself too much with moving. Conserve your energy until I'm done because we're going to be moving at a rapid pace in a few," Ken instructed.
Ginny nodded before resting her back on the wall. She was slightly relieved to know that this wasn't going to be the end of her fate. However, she couldn't help but be shocked at the fact that Boris had gone so far out of his way to help her.
On the other hand, Ken and the Elder continued engaging in another battle of fisticuffs.
One thing that Ken had to admit about the Elder of the Manmeyer family was that he was far more skilled in hand-to-hand combat than Ken. There was no doubt that Stussy's training from CP0 was the creme of the crop. However, his movements looked like child's play in the face of the Elders.
Other than the fact that he was a lightning human, he had no other advantages to hold over the Elder. Whatever looked easily predictable was immediately blocked and countered by the Elder.
It was more than obvious that the Elder was no user of Observation Haki. However, his skill and proficiency in Armament Haki were nothing to scoff at.
Ken easily deflected a hand chop that had been aimed at his neck before attempting to deliver a blow right to his abdomen, but the elder easily grabbed Ken's arm before yanking it upwards.
The elder immediately took advantage of Ken's exposed abdomen before landing his palm right on his Solar Plexis; his expression was calm for a short moment before his eyes narrowed.
Ken's eyes immediately narrowed as a flash of red light flashed from his eyes.
'Ryuo?!'
Ken was about to element himself to dodge the blow, but thanks to the old man's Armament Haki-coated hand grabbing his wrist, he wasn't able to.
"You're done," The elder said as he pressed his palm on his stomach.
Ken puked a substantial amount of blood before he was sent flying right back into Ginny's cell. He crashed into a wall and landed right next to Ginny, whose breath had been momentarily stopped thanks to the sudden change in events.
"Are you ok?!" Ginny asked worriedly.
Ken groggily got up before cracking his neck. By now, Isaac was slowly beginning to stir from his slumber.
"I'll be fine, but could you make sure that the kid's alright? I won't be able to keep an eye on him anymore," Ken requested.
Ginny nodded and turned her focus to the child. Meanwhile, Ken turned his gaze back to the Elder; the fight between the two of them had just gotten started.
