Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Wit Robert Starts His Journey on the Path of Life
“Five points, three points, even one point would do!”
“I’m really sorry, but I need to save the remaining credits. What if the ‘Magical Beast’ fails again? I can’t afford to fail the assignment.”
“One point? What good is one point? It’s like trying to stop a big jar with a toothpick. Find another way.”
“Robert? You can borrow credits from Wit, right? Eh? The hero’s child doesn’t have enough either? Well, there’s no other choice.”
“It’s like this. I’ve already promised to lend credits to Barbara. She spends too much in Traveler’s Street and can’t gather 100 credits.”
“Robert? Then forget it. If Wit asks me… actually, I also need to buy a material pack for the ‘Magical Beast.’ Hehe.”
“Go to hell with your big head!”
…
While Wit and Robert struggled to find someone to borrow from, Dark found new amusement in his bedroom.
“Project立项 for Mana Spirit research!”
Indeed, as long as one puts their heart into thinking, countless possibilities arise, even for something as stringent as the Demigod bloodline, which must bow to human creativity.
Dark researched while sucking on Ibut, not slacking off, and not pretending. The suction was light.
He felt a small satisfaction in life.
The so-called “Seven Deadly Sins” were nothing more.
The research on 【Magical Beast: Ibut】 progressed smoothly.
With the disappearance of the “Arrogance I” effect, Ibut returned to its soft, cute personality, no longer seeming arrogant, but retaining some spirituality in its eyes.
Though its intelligence level still didn’t match that of an Imp Beast, it had an IQ close to a normal Familiar at 2.5.
However, unlike Familiars, Mana Spirits could not maintain their form for long.
They constantly consumed Mana.
The initial consumption came from the Mana absorbed through the Magus’s Summoning Spell.
This Mana was consumed slowly, lasting three to five minutes before depleting, after which they began consuming their own Mana.
A One-Star Mana Spirit consumed Mana at a rate of 1 point per second.
Given Ibut’s total Mana of 100, it could only last an additional one minute and forty seconds.
If it used its Ultimate Skill “Mimic,” which consumed 100 Mana, it would immediately dissipate!
To summon it again, it would need to be replenished with Mana first.
Repeatedly replenishing a Mana Spirit card in quick succession would cause its durability to drop rapidly.
This was similar to how batteries degrade with repeated use.
However, Mana Spirit cards had repair methods.
Using part of the materials used to create the Mana Spirit card, it could be repaired.
Thus, Magi often kept spare materials for their primary Mana Spirit cards.
“Small Dart!”
The Imp Beast flapped its wings, launching a syringe with a shark head!
Ibut skillfully dodged and then used its Ultimate Skill “Mimic,” quickly forming a differently colored syringe and firing it back at the Imp Beast!
The Imp Beast screamed and flew high to dodge, while Ibut rapidly dissipated after using “Mimic.”
Dark watched as the small Ibut gradually formed on the 【Magical Beast: Ibut】 card, and he started to replenish Mana.
According to the textbook description:
Replenishing Mana wasn’t difficult. As long as one paid attention to the speed and amount of Mana input, the Mana Spirit card would gradually glow when full.
Dark gathered Mana at his fingertips, drawing a tiny six-pointed star Mana Enrichment Array on the card, then touched the center of the array—on Ibut’s small belly—and injected Mana.
“Gurrrrriiiii—”
The Ibut on the card suddenly wriggled, startling Dark.
Then he immediately realized that he might be able to enter the realm of a Mind Magus through another path!
…
Two minutes later.
Dark learned how to move the Mana Enrichment Array while replenishing Mana.
As his fingers moved, the Mana Enrichment Array followed, and the Mana injection remained uninterrupted.
Dark rubbed the small Ibut’s belly, listening to its panting “Gurrrriiiii” sounds, his lips curling into a sinister smile.
【Bliss +1】
…
Tuesday…
This week’s Duel Class finally entered a new phase.
At seven o’clock in the morning, each student’s Selection Card suddenly displayed a notification.
Dark pulled out his vibrating Selection Card from his Mana Card Deck and discovered it was a class change notification.
“So that’s it. Today’s Duel Class is in the Dueling Arena?”
St. Maryan had three Dueling Arenas: two indoor and one outdoor.
The indoor Dueling Arenas were usually used for teaching and were numbered ① and ②.
The outdoor Dueling Arena was used for dueling competitions and was one of the few places, aside from Traveler’s Street, where outsiders were allowed.
Every week, from Friday afternoon until Sunday night, countless viewers from across the kingdom would come to watch dueling competitions and form large fan clubs!
Naturally, gambling had infiltrated the scene.
There were rumors that St. Maryan itself was the biggest gambling hub…
Today’s Duel Class for the First Years was in Arena ②.
Dark arrived a bit late, and by then, many students were already curiously watching inside.
During extracurricular time, both the indoor and outdoor Dueling Arenas were usually dominated by upperclassmen, and the freshmen were experiencing these facilities for the first time in such a relaxed manner.
The first impression of the Dueling Arena was height!
So tall that the ceiling seemed to touch the clouds.
The second impression was size.
It was said that the Dueling Grounds in the Battle Hall were built based on “Field Cards,” capable of transforming into various types of arenas as needed.
As eight o’clock approached, more and more students flooded into the arena.
From the Noble Academy, Knight Academy, Mana Academy, and Fool’s Academy.
The freshmen from all four academies gradually arrived.
This was their first time taking the same class together.
The freshmen from the Noble Academy mostly took classes with those from the Knight Academy.
The freshmen from the Mana Academy mostly took classes with those from the Fool’s Academy.
Therefore, the two groups weren’t very familiar with each other.
When Professor Pavar Jones arrived, the four academies separated distinctly within the arena, with each pair of academies keeping a distance.
“Since everyone seems energetic, let’s run two laps around the arena.”
Professor Jones wore attire reminiscent of a physical education teacher, wearing only a small shirt tied into a butterfly knot below, tightly binding his body and revealing rock-hard abs!
The young Magi clearly hadn’t experienced such “laps” before, and there was much grumbling in the arena.
Robert, who had sharp eyes, was the first to start running!
He glanced at Wit and suddenly burst out of the crowd.
Though it was abrupt, it was noticeable.
“Excellent! Broheim gets five points!”
Robert couldn’t help but show joy, his steps becoming more powerful!
Although the arena was vast, Robert had undergone formal military training before enrolling, making him physically fit enough to run two laps without tiring.
Wit, however, was exhausted.
On the other side…
Dark ran at a steady pace, finishing the course. He looked up and saw Wit, Emma, Rose, and a large group of Mana Academy students starting their second lap.
