The Walking Dead: reborn as Carl

Chapter 220: Chapter 232 Father and Son

"The weather should be nice today."

"Well, father, why haven't you shaved yet."

"Haha, it was too late yesterday. If you don't like it, I'll shave it when I get home tonight."

"It's okay." Carl shook his head and yawned.

Then Rick hit one, and then the second one...

It seems that not only I had no sleep last night, but Rick probably had even more difficulty falling asleep.

Carl at least slept for a long time in the afternoon, but Rick had been fighting all day and couldn't sleep last night because he had too many things on his mind, so he was very sleepy at this time.

"Dad, you can sleep in the car for a while. Woodbury is about an hour away." Carl said to Rick who was sitting next to him.

"Actually, it's okay. I just felt a little uncomfortable here and couldn't sleep." Rick laughed awkwardly.

"It's okay, I understand. Go to sleep. When you wake up, I can talk to you about everything you want to know. Of course, if you don't want to sleep, I can tell you everything now."

This was Carl's plan. He had to go to Woodbury today, but he promised Rick that he would explain everything to him. Since they had to do it, why couldn't they do it together?

Carl was prepared to tell Rick everything in the car, so the person driving was Glenn, and there was no one else but Glenn.

The reason why it was Glenn was because he kept his mouth shut. This had been verified by the Governor, and Carl had reminded him of this before.

When you don't exist, or when the two people behind you don't exist, no matter what happens, just drive and don't talk.

"Then tell me first, otherwise it will be hard for me to fall asleep. Karl, after all this time, what did you go through?"

"It's nothing. Everything happened not long after you entered the hospital. The world has changed..."

After a long while, Carl roughly summarized his experiences during this period, including introducing some names, then he stopped and looked at Rick.

He looked into Ryan's eyes, hesitated, and leaned against Rick.

Rick was stunned for a moment, then he put his arm around Carl's shoulders and patted him gently, just as usual, just as he did long ago.

"Carl."

"Um."

"I still have a lot of questions."

"About my mother?"

"No, some, but not all."

"Okay, then Mr. Grimes, it's time for questions." Carl sat up straight and smiled at Rick.

Rick also smiled and reached out to touch Carl's head, "Carl, you've grown a lot taller."

"That's not enough. Also, I hate it when people touch my head. Forget it this time. I'll be more careful next time."

"You didn't hate it before." Rick frowned slightly.

"Because I've grown up, people always change. Okay, father, if you delay any longer, the question time will end."

Carl tried his best to face Rick with a gentle and playful attitude. Although it was not very natural, fortunately Carl was used to it.

Carl just thought that Rick would feel better this way, and he had to consider his feelings, after all, he was his father.

"Okay, Carl, you really are an adult now." Rick withdrew his hand, suppressed the messy thoughts in his mind, and looked at Carl.

"Karl, did you say that Sean has always been protecting you?"

"Well, that's right. He is our leader now. Even if you join, you have to obey his arrangements." Carl smiled and paid attention to Rick's eyes.

Rick frowned slightly, not because Sean was the leader, but because of what Carl said. These words were not appropriate for Carl to say, but perhaps it was just the words of a child.

Rick didn't want to think about it, so he nodded and changed the question, "Carl, you said that besides the prison, there was also a farm you stayed at. How did you find it?"

"Good luck."

"Luck?" Rick frowned even more tightly.

"The reality is even more ridiculous than this. I've already picked out the ones you can accept." Carl smiled indifferently.

"Carl, stop swearing." Rick scolded instinctively.

"Okay." Carl smiled and nodded, then said with a smile as if jokingly,

"Then I will give you another explanation. I was chosen by the merciful Father God. He gave me the ability to see the future and opened my spiritual wisdom. He needs me to save humanity in this apocalypse and lead the remaining humans to create a new era."

"Carl!" Rick frowned even more tightly.

Karl smiled indifferently, "Why, is it even more ridiculous? I said that reality is often more ridiculous, you won't accept it."

"Karl…"

"Yeah, I know, just don't swear." Carl sneered, "To hell with it!"

"Carl!" Rick was angry. He put one hand on Carl's shoulder and opened his mouth to say a lesson but suddenly stopped.

After a few seconds, Rick tried to calm his breathing, "Sorry, Carl, I didn't mean to yell at you."

Carl shook his head, his face returned to calm, and his voice also returned to calm.

"It's okay. I... I was a little impulsive, but actually, your second question is not important. You can ask other people. Now, let's ask your third question."

Rick looked at Carl and said in a daze, "Carl, you have really changed a lot."

"I've said before that I've really changed a lot, father. We need some time to get used to each other and get familiar with each other. During this time, you don't have to think too much. After all, no matter how much I change, we are still father and son."

"Father and son are natural enemies. I didn't believe this before." Rick smiled bitterly."I didn't believe it either." Carl nodded. "Okay, keep asking questions, father. If you want to reminisce, there's plenty of time. Let me first resolve your doubts. This will help you sleep peacefully at night."

Rick shook his head. "Actually, I'm already satisfied just to see you and Lori. I don't have any questions to ask. I... I'm just a little scared."

"Are you afraid this is a dream?" Carl laughed.

"Some," Rick nodded, "but not only that."

Karl smiled and said, "You can slap yourself to eliminate this possibility first, and then solve your other fears."

"Carl, you're being disrespectful. I've always taught you to follow the rules and be polite." Rick frowned, pretending to be serious.

Karl smiled and said, "Father, I think even father and son should be equal. You also said that we can be like friends, so I don't think a harmless joke is an overstep."

"Haha, indeed." Rick also laughed, but after a while he stopped smiling and shook his head, "I'm not afraid of you laughing at me when I say this, you don't have to tell me, I've tried it many times.

So I know that this is not a dream, this is real, Carl, you are really sitting next to me.

Just like usual, I drove you and Lori for a ride."

"Oh, that's not a good memory." Carl curled his lips and smiled indifferently.

"You guys always leave me alone in the back seat, maybe you should say you occasionally bring me frozen waffles, that would resonate more with me."
