The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 497: Negotiation

(From Blue's Perspective)

It actually had been pretty scary to face the master of the magic tower of Mazazine. I still remembered how he pressed me down on the ground and every single word he said. They were horrible and creepy.

"Beautiful… Your eyes are beautiful…," he whispered again and again as his fingers touched my eyes gently. It was scary and creepy. I told Perita to stay away and do nothing. I had the capability to save myself, especially as he was mad because of his obsession with my eyes at that moment.

The master of the magic tower collected eyes, as people said. He liked to collect the prisoners' eyes which caught his attention. I got the news that he even collected the eyes of literally anyone if he liked them. It was way too creepy. Besides, how could someone do that? What was so interesting about eyes that you need to collect them?

However, I managed him quite easily. At last, he almost stabbed me with a knife that appeared out of thin air, at least, that was what he thought. But I was good with knives and daggers. I caught it in time and my dragon did the rest.

I sat down on the bed in my tent and drank a bit of water from the bedside table. My whole body was aching. It was night. Tomorrow morning, the war break would be over. We would face the Mazazine again in the field. I tried to sleep a bit to relax my body, but it seemed impossible.

Would Dem even be alright? I still could feel his body going cold very quickly under my palms. His lips and veins turned black. I could still see it, feel what I felt that night.

I shook my head. There was no point. If I wanted to win and save him, I needed to focus on the war and nothing else. It would have been better if I was not pregnant. I could have fought without any worry. Maybe I could do a lot more things than I could do now with my power.

But then again, I loved my unborn child too much to actually wish for that.

I cradled my stomach with both of my hands. It was really big. I had gone a long way of the pregnancy. There was not much time left.

That was the moment I heard something. Someone was in the tent. But rather than screaming or using my power, I sat there silently. The shadow emerged from the dark corner of the tent and bowed to me.

I observed his face in the dim light of the candle that I lit. He brought me a letter and some interesting news. His information let me know what was going to happen fifteen days later. So, in the morning after fifteen days, when we reached the battlefield, I knew exactly what was going to happen.

The King of Mazazine was there. He looked like he had aged at least ten years in only two years. The last time I had seen him was at the banquet in Ataraxia. His wife acted harshly with me. She was dead now anyway.

How did he feel? Did he mourn his wife? Or, was he being controlled so much that he could not do even that? Well, if he did not love his wife at all, there was no need to mourn, being controlled or not.

And then, it happened, the thing that I expected. An eagle flew towards me with a letter tied to its legs. I raised my arm and it sat on it. I freed the paper and it flew away, towards the King once more.

I did not need to read the letter to know its content, however, I did anyway.

It was an offer to make peace. It was the same negotiation made by the three others nations to stop the war. Ataraxia had backed away at first when Evan tried to get them to sign the negotiation paper, as Mazazine probably threatened to cut ties with Ataraxia if they signed the negotiation. Ataraxia had a loss of crops this year and Mazazine had been the one helping them the most.

We could not help as we were almost in the same situation. We managed, but barely.

If the negotiation was signed by the rulers of the three other kingdoms, the other two kingdoms were forced to stop. If one of the kingdoms did not stop, the other kingdoms would turn against that one kingdom.

In the last fifteen days, the war had been hard, however, not impossible to win with the help of my power. I had known all this time that it would not take time for Ataraxia to sign as the Queen of Lacuna decided to help Ataraxia. It looked like she liked the gift I sent her.

Queen Laetitia wanted a royal jewel, a bright purple gemstone, that had been passed down in the generations of the Mazazine royal family. I sent my knights to attack the duke's estate. It was not that hard to enter Mazazine unnoticed. I sent mages mostly. Since the duke was on the battlefield along with most of the knights, it was not hard.

The King owed the duke, so the Imperial knights went to defend the duke's estate. Perita led some knights in the meantime to kill the concubines of the King and the shadow stole the jewel. I learned from the master of the magic tower of Mazazine where the jewel was kept. He did not lie. I could see if someone lied. I could feel it with my power.

After I sent it to her, Queen Laetitia gladly agreed to help Ataraxia and Ataraxia signed the negotiation paper.

Even though I knew the war would not be over just yet, I felt a little relief. These fifteen days, I pushed my body to the limit, I used as much of my power as I could. It was not enough to defeat Azure if he used more dark mages which he did not. I believed it was because he was not sure how far I was willing to go. What if I killed myself along with my baby in the process of using too much power?

He would never let me die. And if he could, he would try to take my baby too.

"It is a peace negotiation," I said.
