The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 502: Unholiness

(From Evan's Perspective)

"Queen Blue looks tired," Queen Laetitia stated as soon as Blue entered the meeting room. She was seated beside me. It was still hard for me to get used to the strong perfume she used. It had already caused me a bad headache. I pitied my luck.

"The Queen of Querencia has to deal with a lot of things, thanks to our fellow rulers," I said.

She flipped her shiny black hair, her mismatched eyes playful as she watched the head priest of Ataraxia.

"Pious men make me nauseous. They do not know when to keep their mouth shut," she sneered.

"But we do. And maybe it is that time," I said. "There are ears everywhere, Queen of Lacuna."

"I don't care. If these puny fools can do something to me and my kingdom, I will lick that priest's foot," she said. Her skin was the color of chocolate. I had to admit she was truly beautiful. A lot of men and women maybe fell in love with her every time she made an appearance.

However, not in Querencia, not after she made a fool of herself when she was a Princess and deeply in love with King Demetrius.

But Blue and she seemed to have a good relationship with no kind of hate between them. Perhaps Queen Laetitia was over King Demetrius.

"Oh my, how does she walk with that huge belly when her arms and legs are so slender?" she muttered. "When is the due?"

"Maybe a few weeks more," I said. Two weeks, precisely saying. But I was now King Ford, the King of Trouvaille, not Evan who was Blue's friend. King Ford was not supposed to know too many details about Queen Blue and even if he did, he would act like he did not.

The meeting started. Blue looked way too exhausted, but she tried to hide it as much as possible. The makeup hid the dark circles and pimples that grew because of staying awake at night, and not maintaining a healthy routine. Her dragon had its head poked through the window, right near Blue's feet.

"That creature has no need here. We are here for the purpose of peaceful negotiation," the priest of Ataraxia said.

"Has my child burnt your robe or one of those few hairs that you have left?" Blue said. "Think before you say something, priest. You might not want my child to get mad at you for lying. Vigor doesn't like false accusations, you see."

The priest went silent. He surely did not want to be burnt alive today.

Blue let out a tired sigh and looked at every representative in the eyes as she spoke. "I very much wonder how you all get so much time as to call these many meetings. Today, I hope and believe for the sake of the peace of the world, that it is the last meeting we will have on this particular matter about me being the Queen of Querencia," she said. "Now, who objects to me being Queen?"

It was the priest of Ataraxia who had spoken up. "We do! We will not accept a demon Queen!"

"I am not your Queen, head priest of Ataraxia," she said. "I am the Queen of the people of Querencia."

"Even the people of Querencia don't accept you," the King of Mazazine bellowed. He had lost his wife at the hands of King Demetrius. Surely, he was quite mad, even if he did not love his wife at all."

"You are a breach of the law of nature!" another priest from Ataraxia said. "You are not meant to be this powerful! No one is! It is not normal!"

"You all are jealous," she shrugged. "You are envious that someone from your kingdom doesn't have this amount of power. You are afraid that if I go against you, you will lose everything. Alright, let us not hurry since it is the last day we will sit to discuss this matter. We all will hear why you do not want me to be the Queen of Querencia."

It was possible to overthrow a ruler of a kingdom if the people of that kingdom and the other kingdoms voted against them. But, truly, who could overthrow her? She was dangerous. She had been since the moment she was born. But a person truly becomes dangerous when they know that they are dangerous. And she knew now.

She knew what she could do, and she was ready to push herself to do more. It was not the Blue I knew. She had changed. But she had a reason to change. If she did not, she would just have to lose. Who would intentionally lose, when they could step up and put up a fight?

The priests shouted their opinions, using very filthy language at her. The King of Mazazine did not use filthy language and remained polite enough, even if he opposed her. He valued his life a little bit it seemed, or probably, he did not lose his manners completely yet. The words of the priests made me way too angry. I clenched my fists, not knowing who I might punch.

"There, there, head priest," I said, not being able to remain silent anymore, "maybe you should look around yourself once more. I would not dare to talk shit about the woman who has a dragon as a child."

"That creature is the result of that woman's greed! She is a monster and that creature is no different! We are the children of the Moon goddess. By accepting that demon as a Queen, I would never let this kind of unholiness take place!"

"Unholy, you say?" Queen Laetitia's cold voice rang in the air. Her voice was sharp now. She stood up and glared at the head priest. "If she had been a monster, unholiness would have already taken place. You wouldn't have been here, head priest. Neither would your puppets.

And that dumb King of Mazazine, who dared to go against Querencia for no apparent reason."

"The King and the Queen of Querencia killed my son!" the King of Mazazine shouted. Experience new stories with My Virtual Library Empire

"You did not have proof, King of Mazazine. You are just not accepting the fact that you raised your fist before you could tell why," she said.

I saw Blue's hands shaking. She was trying to hold herself back. It had been a good thing that Queen Laetitia spoke up. Or, Blue probably would have done the unholy thing Queen Laetitia talked about.
