The Werewolf King's Bride

Chapter 511: Go. Obey. Follow.

(From Blue's Perspective)

My lower half was in pain, but I felt stronger than ever as I rode on Vigor's back with my palms holding in front of me as it broke through the barrier of the dark mages.

They broke through our barrier, but I was not too late. Luc held up the barrier as long as he could, and in the end, it was almost like he was holding it up alone. The barrier was placed around the palace ground and it took a tremendous amount of power to hold it together with only a few mages as most of the mages could not bear the pain when the dark mages tried to break our barrier.

When I reached, Vigor found me instantly and I rode on its back. Luc caught my eye, thanks to the dragon who could never go unnoticed. On my signal, he and the other mages suddenly dropped their barrier. The dark mages could not exactly see what was going on inside the barrier, so they were surprised. I took advantage of that.

I jumped from the back of Vigor as it let out fire from its mouth. I was falling. I could hear the screams and terrorized voices of the mages, knights, and Luc. But I knew what I could do. Nothing could stop me now.

I spread my hands. It was like I was nature itself. I could use the air, the fire, the darkness, the light, everything. Everything was me. The air made a space for me and I was standing mid sky on nothing but void. I felt my insides craving to let out.

My power wanted to break free. Vigor's attack was not enough. Its attention was always on the giant snake that was slithering across me. I let Vigor do what it wanted. As soon as it got my permission, it chased the giant snake. Vigor's attack on the dark mages had been deadly even if it was not enough and they created a barrier.

They surrounded me. Luc was yelling from the ground. I could hear what he was saying. I could make out the words perfectly even if he was far away from me.

"It's madness, Blue! They have surrounded you! You will die!"

"Not madness," I smiled. "Just perfect."

I was in the middle of the barrier. I could hear the breath of every other being around me. I spread my hands wider and threw my head back.

'Finally!'

Electricity, warmth, coldness, dampness, everything at once spread throughout my body. Around me, darkness-like strings and snakes shot out of my hands and broke their barrier in a moment. They turned into sharp blades, cutting through the dark mages as if they were flies. Their screams and blood were all around me. Their bodies started to fall from the sky one by one as they lost balance.

My hair seemed to have life on its own as each of my hair moved on its own like snakes. The air turned heavy, the sky turned completely black. The whole place felt cursed.

More dark mages arrived. Even in the darkness, I could feel who was coming near me, and how many were there.

But as soon as they came near me, they clutched their throat and lost balance.

So, power was like this.

I could see nothing. Beneath my feet, it was only blackness. It was like I was standing in a void.

"You are beautiful, my daughter," a sharp melodic voice rang in my ears.

"Just not for you to use, Azure," I said.

Now, I could see him. My father stood only a few feet away from me. His face reflected mine. A smile was playing on his lips. It was like he did not care how many of his dark mages lost their lives. He only wanted to see me demonstrating my power.

"Your child is not here to stop you anymore, it seems," he said and looked at my stomach. "You know what power is now."

"I know, Azure. You taught me," I said. "Power is everything."

"Father. Call me 'Father'. I am your father, my dear daughter," he said.

"Father?" I let out a laugh. "Father figures never seemed to be less in my life. But really, every single one of them is better than you, my biological father. You only want to use me."

"I want you to be what you are supposed to be. I want you to realize your worth."

"I know my worth, Azure, thanks to you. And I also know you are not worthy to be in my life, or anywhere near me," I said.

"Then who is? That dying husband of yours who cannot even handle the same poison that you have in your veins?"

I almost lost my composure. The poison I had in my veins?

"Can you not see why these ants are dying? Look around you, Blue," he said. I let my eyes look around, before fixing them on him again. "It is you. Your body, your power- they are all poison. Why do we have the snake sign?

Haven't you ever wondered?"

I took a deep breath. "Because we are so," I breathed out.

Dem was not dying because of any poisonous gas at that time. It was me. That was why the antidote was not working. I was the poison, not any gas.

"He wouldn't die because of my poison. He is my mate," I said.

"Gods don't have mates, Blue. You are the daughter of one. You might not be a god, but you are not ordinary either," he said. "You don't have mates."

"But I surely can make one," I said and held my hands up. Snakes were all around me now. They rose their heads with my hands and as soon as I brought my hands down, they charged at him. Snakes could not kill snakes. I did not need them to kill him. He was immortal.

But I could surely do something to stop him.

Nothing was impossible.

He braced himself with a barrier of shadow and moved from his place in a flash. The snakes followed him, biting through the shadows, hissing. A hand grabbed my throat and I felt myself falling.

I sent electricity through his veins. He hissed in pain, but his grip was firm. I realized it was not just him. Ten, twenty, even more than that shadow hands were gripping my throat. My snakes were all around, ripping the shadows off, but it was not enough.

We fell together. We crashed through the roof of what seemed to be the building where Dem and I married. My back hit hard a column. I had broken a few ribs at least. I hissed in pain.

"My daughter, haven't you heard? Snakes do not listen, they are not pets. They belong with, or to no one. You and I, our kind are not to love and sacrifice. We are to win, to fight. We are to rule," he said.

Which one was he among the shadowy creatures?

"You will… g-get nothing… if you kill me," I stuttered.

"Who said I am going to kill you? I will take you with me. I just need to put some sense into you," he said.

I realized something was entering my body from all angles. It was cold. My body was getting cold. The shadows were entering my body.

"You!" I yelled, thrashing in the grips of hundreds of shadows. So, this was how dark mages controlled dark mages. They created their own soldiers and let them enter the body of a dark mage. The soldiers, each of them would take hold of each string of black mana in a dark mage's body.

'Black mana is like a ball of string. You just know how much you have, how many strings you have,' the words echoed in my mind.

He was trying to control my mind. I had to do something quickly.

'There is no one to save you, but yourself. There are two options. Die,' a voice whispered in my ears. 'Or, subjugate, if not kill.'

A bright light, just like sunlight, made a hole in the black sky and fell right on us. Did I do that? Did I have the power to do that as well?

There was no time to think. I found Azure among the shadows. The shadows were like slimy and airy, transparent beings. They did not have any shapes. But Azure did. He was like a beast, with fangs out and a split tongue just like a snake's.

His eyes were blue with black slits, just like those of a snake. We were snakes. The moon goddess was 'wolf'. The black lord was 'snake'.

It was something the children's books read, but why did I never think about it?

I felt something shift in me. There was an unfamiliar feeling, but it also felt too homely. It was unfamiliar as long as I did not accept it.

'Go. Obey. Follow.'

It was not the voice that always was in my head. It was not my subconsciousness. It was his voice. He was commanding me. I almost felt myself ready to obey.
