Chapter 20: Extra 2: The Alchemist, the Mage, and the Language Barrier
Victor Alaric
(After falling to Earth in Chapter 7)
"Wha... am I... in heaven?"
I stand in a daze, utterly amazed at everything around me. Everything moves without a trace of magic.
A metal carriage runs on its own! Devices display moving images and information in every home! Smooth pavements stretch endlessly, guiding both walkers and strange vehicles. Large structures! Tiny, hand-held devices let people speak to someone miles away! Lights illuminate streets without even a hint of fire!
"A world crafted entirely by human hands! It's... it's magnificent! I knew it! Such wonders are possible!"
--------------
"Ehehehe~ what is this~"
Grinning like a child, I rub my hands along the cold surface of an unfamiliar machine, marveling at its craftsmanship—until-
"!@#$%&*?"
"What is it?" I snap, turning to the source of the interruption.
A man in blue attire grabs my shoulder, speaking in a foreign tongue with a strict tone. His words are indecipherable, but his authoritative expression is clear enough.
Should I blast him to pieces? But… making a scene now would be a waste.
Around us, more people gather, whispering to one another as their curiosity grows.
"How annoying," I mutter under my breath.
"#&@@^@@&#," the man continues, his voice grating on my nerves. Fine. Let's make this quick.
I listen intently to his words and the whispers of the crowd, picking apart tones and patterns.
"I.. el.. fo.. yo.. si.." I mutter.
"Sir, are you listening? Are you a foreigner?" he asks again.
Ah, that word 'sir'—a form of address. 'Listening'—a request for attention. Yes, I see now.
I clear my throat and declare, "No! I appreciate the pretty of world! That is! What am doing!"
I stand smug, proud of my newfound linguistic prowess.
The crowd's reaction is... stunned silence. Bewildered stares. I stride away, unbothered by their incomprehension.

"Just like that, I've learned your language perfectly in three days without needing any book to reference! How's that!" I boast to an audience of corpses in an abandoned building I've claimed.
"Hmph! No reply, eh? Well, it's your fault for getting in my way."
A week has passed since I fell to this strange world. Its wonders amuse me, My boredom is starting to grow. The hearts can wait, no need to rush.
"Kekeke, should I disassemble you all and stitch you back together~?" I muse, poking a corpse with idle curiosity.
I stopped as I lost interest, finding it dull to repeat what I've already accomplished before.
"Hrrrghh..."
A rasping sound interrupts my musings. Turning, I spot a translucent, non-human creature lurking in the shadows. My lips curl into a delighted grin.
"Well, well, looks like I won't be bored for a while~."

"Where am I?" I murmur, taking in my surroundings.
Everything here is unfamiliar. Strange lights, odd shapes, and the air that doesn't even have an ounce of magic.
Before I can process it further, a group of muscular men approaches. Prints on their arms and necks, and their expressions are as unpleasant as their presence.
"#%@*^&%$(," one of them says, while giving a nasty stare.
I couldn't understand their words, but their flirtatious tone was enough to irritate me.
Disgusting.
*snap*
I cast a simple spell of knowledge, a fundamental application of mind magic. Foreign languages comprehension.
"Miss, isn't it dangerous to walk alone at night? Why don't you come with us?" one of them asks in filthy tone.
My irritation flares.
"How revolting," I sneer. "If you like me so much, why not bow down and lick my feet?"
A flick of my wrist and their expressions go blank as my hypnosis takes hold.
"Yes, ma'am..." they chorus, dropping to their knees in unison.
"Much better," I say, stepping over them without a second glance.

Days pass in comfort as I shop, dine, and explore with a carefree ease. With these men's money in my hand, I have enough to enjoy this world's luxuries. These fools are easily manipulated, and I quite enjoy myself.
