This Danzo Is Weird!

"If you're this scared just because of two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan, then we might as well hand over the title of the number one shinobi village to Hidden Cloud."

When Danzō spoke these words, an overwhelming aura of confidence and authority radiated from him.

At this moment, it seemed as though he was the true Hokage, the one in power, while Hiruzen Sarutobi appeared more like a supporting character.

As for Homura Mitokado, he was left speechless, utterly choked by Danzō's words.

"This is my stance. Even if the Uchiha truly choose to rebel, I will personally take them all down."

Danzō's words left everyone in silence.

His meaning was clear.

While Fugaku Uchiha and Shisui Uchiha had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan, the power they could wield was far inferior to that of Madara Uchiha.

Similarly, even though Danzō had mastered Wood Release, he could never hope to wield the godlike power of the First Hokage.

They all understood this.

After all, they were seasoned shinobi. They knew that there were no useless jutsu, only useless shinobi.

But the problem was that in the entire history of Konoha, the only one who had ever demonstrated the true power of the Mangekyō was Madara Uchiha.

Even if they knew that Fugaku and Shisui couldn't possibly reach the same level as their ancestor, even half of Madara's strength would be enough to crush them with a single jutsu—or maybe two.

"What about you? Can your Wood Release be replicated?"

Hiruzen was aware of Danzō's past experiments with Wood Release.

Not only him, but many of the village elders knew about it.

Back then, volunteers had even been recruited from the Senju clan, which had not yet disbanded, all in an attempt to replicate the power of the God of Shinobi.

But every single one of those experiments had failed due to the terrifyingly volatile nature of Hashirama's cells.

If Danzō's Wood Release could be replicated, then the Uchiha clan's Sharingan wouldn't seem so fearsome after all.

Unfortunately, Danzō immediately shot down that hope.

"I am the only successful experiment. If you want more Wood Release users, you'll have to restart the experiments."

Danzō's answer left Hiruzen deeply disappointed.

The experiments had been canceled precisely because the success rate was so abysmally low. Restart them now? Impossible!

Even in times of peace, Konoha couldn't afford such losses. Now, during wartime, when shinobi were already in short supply, how could they possibly throw precious lives into such a bottomless pit of experiments?

After repelling Sunagakure and Kumogakure, he moved to the southern front and, without any authorization from the Hokage, forcibly took command from Homura.

Then, without consulting anyone, he unilaterally signed a peace treaty with Kirigakure.

After that, he went to the Land of Rain, defeated Sunagakure, and ignored the Hokage and Daimyō's orders for a ceasefire, forcing Sunagakure to sign a treaty.

Every single one of these actions was a capital offense!

The only reason Hiruzen hadn't acted against Danzō yet was not just because they were old friends, but also because every decision Danzō had made in defiance of orders had later been proven correct.

In fact, Danzō's unilateral actions had miraculously prevented Konoha from being forced to fight on four fronts simultaneously and had secured significant gains for the village.

This was the most awkward part for Konoha's leadership.

If even one of Danzō's decisions had backfired, he would have already been stripped of his authority.

Danzō didn't bother arguing with Homura.

Instead, he turned directly to Hiruzen.

"Is this your will, Hiruzen?"

Hearing Danzō's direct challenge, a flicker of panic and discomfort flashed in Hiruzen's aged eyes.

But after so many years as Hokage, he quickly composed himself and spoke in a measured tone:

"Danzō, I know you've made great contributions to Konoha this time, but the fact remains that you disobeyed orders."

"If we don't punish you, the Hokage's authority will become meaningless."

In response, Danzō didn't hide his scornful smile.

"Hiruzen, do you know what your biggest flaw is?"

"It's your weakness!"

Danzō openly berated him in front of the other two elders.

"We're in the middle of a war! Your weakness will only get Konoha's finest killed!"

"If it weren't for me, Kikyo Mountain would have fallen by now!"

"If it weren't for me, Homura would have been killed by Kirigakure, and they would have marched straight into the heart of the Land of Fire!"

"If it weren't for me, Sunagakure would have already taken the Land of Rain and the Land of Rivers, and they'd be eyeing our borders!"

Danzō's voice grew more and more heated, and by the end, he was standing right in front of Hiruzen's desk, slamming his hands on the table and spitting in the Hokage's face.

Seeing Danzō's outburst, Hiruzen finally lost his temper.

He was the Hokage, after all. The Hokage's dignity could not be challenged.

"Enough, Danzō!"

"I am the Hokage!"

"Since our teacher chose me, you must obey my orders without question!"

"From now on, you are not to leave Konoha without my permission!"

Hiruzen was clearly furious, even invoking the name of Tobirama Senju.

Hearing this, Danzō's eyes turned bloodshot. Without another word, he turned and left.

Just before slamming the door, he growled in a hoarse, icy voice:

"You'll regret this, Hiruzen."

And with that, he stormed out, the door crashing shut behind him.

"BANG!!!"
