Time on the Run 2

Chapter 7: Rising from the Ashes

A New Challenge

The 3-0 defeat to U.E. Cornellà had shaken CF Igualada. It wasn't just a loss—it was a reality check. The league wasn't going to be easy, and they weren't as untouchable as they thought.

Training the next day was intense. Coach Morales pushed them harder than ever, demanding more precision, more discipline, and most of all, more hunger to win.

"You want to win the league? Then play like champions!" he barked.

Daniel felt the weight of the challenge. He had to step up, not just for himself, but for the entire team.

A Late-Night Conversation

That evening, Daniel found himself at a small café in Igualada. It had been a while since he had spent time with Sofia, and he needed to clear his head.

Sofia arrived, her hair tied back in a casual ponytail, a warm smile on her face.

"You looked terrible during that match," she teased, sitting across from him.

"Thanks for the support," Daniel said with a smirk, stirring his coffee.

"I'm serious, though. You're overthinking. Football isn't just about power and speed—it's about confidence."

Daniel exhaled. "I know, but it's hard. I feel like I should be doing more."

Sofia took a sip of her drink before leaning forward. "You've been playing great. One bad game doesn't change that. Just keep moving forward."

Her words stuck with him. Maybe she was right.

CF Igualada's next match was against U.E. Sant Andreu, a mid-table team that had been inconsistent throughout the season.

But Igualada played with fire.

Daniel was sharper, his movements more fluid. Miguel dominated the midfield, and Luis was a wall in defense. The team worked as a unit, pressing high, creating chances, and shutting down any attacks.

In the 30th minute, Daniel finally got his moment.

Luis sent a long pass down the left wing. Daniel sprinted past the last defender, cut inside, and curled a shot into the top corner.

GOAL!

The stadium erupted. 1-0.

Igualada didn't stop there. A second goal came from Miguel, followed by a late penalty conversion by Luis.

Final Score: CF Igualada 3-0 U.E. Sant Andreu.

The victory lifted the team's spirits, but Daniel knew this was just the beginning. They had to stay sharp, keep improving, and fight for every win.

And in the shadows, something still lingered. The hooded figure. The strange feeling that his past wasn't done with him.

But for now, football came first.
