Transmigrated Become Sukuna, but the host is Yukinoshita Yukino?

Chapter 131: Chapter 131: What Is Reality?

The wind howled past her ears, but it couldn't drown out the sound of her racing heartbeat.

In that brief moment of falling, she instinctively closed her eyes, but quickly forced them open again, unwilling to miss a single detail.

As the ground rushed closer and closer, her heartbeat grew louder. Just when she thought she was going to hit the ground, she suddenly felt something solid beneath her feet. The sensation of standing on firm ground came with a rapid surge in altitude, a thrill far greater than any roller coaster.

Yet, even now, Yukinoshita Haruno could only feel the soft surface beneath her feet—she couldn't see anything.

She must be standing on the back of some invisible creature.

Hayashizaki suddenly let go of the short-haired girl in his arms. She immediately felt herself losing balance and quickly grabbed his arm, pressing her chest tightly against it.

Haruno blinked in surprise and looked down at the towering city buildings below. Then, something amazing happened—patches of orange feathers slowly appeared in her view.

It was a giant bird.

And she and Hayashizaki were standing on its back.

"Oh! Hayashizaki-kun, I can see it! I can see it!"

Like an excited child with a new toy, she shook the black-haired young man's arm. "It's such a big bird!"

"This is an owl shikigami. Its name is Nue," Hayashizaki explained as he gently pulled her to sit down cross-legged.

"I see. Thank you for your hard work, Nue-chan," Haruno said, sitting sideways on the shikigami's back and reaching out to stroke its soft feathers.

"Whoo!"

The owl shikigami let out a sharp cry in response.

"So cute!"

Maybe it was because she hadn't seen Nue's face yet that Haruno could say something like that.

"Ah, by the way, is it really okay to make Nue-chan visible? Won't someone see it and take pictures?"

As she petted the owl's soft feathers, she suddenly thought of this concern.

Haruno had assumed that Hayashizaki made the shikigami visible just so she could see it.

"Don't worry, ordinary people can't see the spell. You can only see it temporarily," Hayashizaki reassured her.

"I see. That's a shame."

To make sure Haruno was comfortable, Hayashizaki didn't let Nue fly too fast. The cool night breeze brushed against her face, easing the summer heat. Her shoulder-length hair gently fluttered in the wind, carrying a faint fragrance that blended with the night air.

"Hey, Hayashizaki-kun, can we fly a little higher?"

Haruno suddenly asked.

The view of the city from above was beautiful, but it wasn't much different from looking down from a high-rise apartment.

Rather than the city lights, she wanted to see the night sky.

Not the kind of view you get through an airplane window, but an open, unbounded view—free from steel and glass.

"As long as you don't mind the cold," Hayashizaki said.

He patted the shikigami's back, signaling it to fly higher.

Following its master's command, Nue flapped its wings and soared into the sky.

The city below grew smaller and smaller. The colorful lights of Japan clustered together like a sea of stars. The intertwining highways and overpasses, with their streams of cars, formed rivers of light and shadow—like the city's lifeblood, pulsing with rhythm and energy.

She could clearly feel that the city was alive.

Eventually, they pierced through the thick clouds and reached the sea of clouds above.

It's almost impossible to see many stars in the night sky in the city. Even in the countryside, away from light pollution, when the clouds scatter, you can only catch a tiny glimpse of the vast sea of stars. Even with a telescope, the Milky Way is just a small scene within the lens.

The haze in front of her gradually faded, and reflected in Yukinoshita Haruno's clear eyes was the complete and boundless Milky Way, shining brilliantly.

Each star was so bright, so extraordinary. Even though they were thousands of light-years away, when they came together, not even the moon, with its advantage of being closer, could compare.

Only at this very moment could she feel so clearly how vast the world was, and how small and insignificant humans were. Under this starry sky, the meaning of an individual seemed to fade away.

"So beautiful..."

Yukinoshita Haruno gazed at the Milky Way hanging upside down before her eyes, murmuring softly.

A feeling called "being alive" suddenly filled her heart—an overwhelming sense of fulfillment mixed with an unreal sense of illusion. These two contrasting emotions intertwined, blossoming into something she deeply longed for.

Freedom.

No responsibilities arranged by her family, no need to maintain various social relationships, and no need to wear a false mask. Just her true self and this real starry sky.

Real...

But what is her true self?

...

...

At a summer camp in Chiba Village, inside a wooden cabin for high school students, Hikigaya Hachiman lay on his side on the bedding, nervously watching the sleeping face of Totsuka Saika, who was right next to him.

"Hachiman..."

The silver-haired boy's soft, dreamlike voice drifted into his ears.

How could anyone sleep like this?

The dim lighting hid the blush rising on Hikigaya Hachiman's face. To calm himself down, he decided to step outside for some fresh air.

He carefully got up and left the cabin.

As he wandered around aimlessly, he suddenly spotted a familiar slender figure standing among the trees.

Yukinoshita Yukino was gazing up at the night sky, her calm and delicate profile making it hard to guess what was on her mind. The moonlight poured down, covering her in a silver glow.

The scene was too beautiful. His gloomy self shouldn't ruin it.

Just as he was about to quietly leave before Yukinoshita noticed his presence, a cool and ethereal voice suddenly rang out.

"Staying up so late, planning something bad, Hikigaya?"

Tch, he almost forgot—Yukinoshita's observation skills were way better than his. Of course, she would notice him.

"Aren't you here too?"

Hikigaya Hachiman shot back.

"Miura came to pick a fight with me earlier."

Yukinoshita Yukino sighed lightly, looking a little helpless.

"I spent thirty minutes shutting her down, and then she started crying."

"So you ran out here because it got awkward?"

"That's... part of it."

The real reason Yukinoshita Yukino came outside was because she received a message from Hayashizaki.

Want to go for a late-night snack?

Although she wasn't in the habit of eating late-night snacks, she decided to go out with him anyway because of the atmosphere.

"But I didn't expect her to cry. Now I've left Yuigahama to comfort her."

"Looks like even someone as strong as Yukinoshita isn't good at dealing with tears."

Hikigaya Hachiman teased.

I wonder if Hayashizaki would go easy on me if I cried my eyes out... No, no matter how I think about it, that's impossible.

As they chatted, the moonlight was suddenly blocked by a giant owl shikigami descending upon them.

Yukinoshita Yukino looked up, about to greet it, but her expression froze.

"Yahallo~! Yuki-chan!"

Yukinoshita Haruno, with a bright smile, waved at her stunned younger sister.
