Transmigration: The Princess Marries Her Doting Husband

Chapter 7: Chapter 7. The first trial

Hatsuki opened her eyes, feeling a surge of headache. The ambience around her was dim and she was sitting on a chair, instead of the bed where she had slept. Next to her were twelve lanterns which were hung to a wooden stick in a spiral motion.

"Uh, where am I" she groaned.

"You look well-dressed Little Miss Piggy. Did your husband finally take you shopping? Well better late than never right?" It was the cheeky familiar voice which had been heard in her sleep.

As she straightened her back while annoying glaring at the thin air, Hatsuki replied " Well I am sorry if my clothes were too poor for you, your almighty highness" Her eyes rolled slightly as she continued " Also, I do not have a husband and Master just bought me these well… because I am going to be under his guide and I will repay by working as his secretary"

"Umm…Is that so? He's taking his sweet time I see. Well then, Here's a little welcome gift from me then"

Suddenly a little tea table appeared and on the table was a porcelain kettle a beige which had a tall round body and little paintings of flowers in blue and yellow and some leaves. Similarly, there were six cups which had taller bodies, and the rims were like blossoming flowers.

Hatsuki could feel her eyes lit up at the sight of the cute tea set.

"They're so cute." She commented while taking hold of a cup only for her hand to pass by the porcelain. "EH?" Her brows arched and suddenly she shook off her hand.

"Aww don't be scared little Miss Piggy those are just a little demonstration of the tea set I sent you. We are inside your unconsciousness after all…" The voice remarked which made Hatsuki finally release the air she had locked inside her lungs from the fear that even she had turned into a spirit.

"Thank goodness….Also, why are you in my unconscious then? You should let me sleep. Moreover, what are your intentions?" Hatsuki had her hands folded on her chest.

"Well, I am here to see how much progress you made little Miss Piggy. It is the start of your first trial after all, unless… you don't mind not knowing why you were sent here"

Those words brought strong eye contact between Hatsuki and the thin air in front of her. Her breath was slightly withheld. While not getting rest even in sleep made her feel even more tired, the thought of not knowing why she was even brought haunted her. 'Every life has a purpose' she thought to herself.

"Well, Since I am a generous man let me help you even more. Try to learn the art of flower arrangement"

"Eh? That's all?" Just as she said that the dream ended, and she could feel slipping into a deep slumber where there was nothing but darkness.

~

Just as she got a deep inhale of the air, she shot her eyes open. Unlike the dream, it was the familiar vault where she had the night before and the lights from the lantern had died out. A very vague yet audible sound of the bamboo flute could be heard.

'It still feels so scary' she thought. Her time on Earth had ended. On a single train ride to her destination where she had tried to save a child disarmingly giving up her life and yet, it seemed that density had other plans for her.

'How am I still alive and yet also not?' her question was a sort of poem which would let out its answer with time. Bas she truly fearless enough to endure?

Lost in her thoughts Hatsuki tossed from side to side on the bed. Suddenly someone knocked on the door "May I enter Miss?"

"You may" Hatsuki replied while pressing her hand on the sides of the mattress, raising her body gently.

From the door, the maid entered with two trays on her hands. The sound of the flute was clearer as well. A calm and sombre tone like the lingering ripples of water, so mild and yet shaking everything at the surface.

The maid placed the trays on the tea table and explained to Hatsuki while she had her focus on the music "These are for your morning essentials. A towel and these are handmade soaps from the Cranes store. If you need anything else, please just call me and I will be there. Also, this tea set arrived for you this morning"

It was the same tea set as in her dream. They were exactly of the same colour, same height and almost identical. But it also gravely scared her somewhat. The person in her dreams was a real being and he was most likely watching her.

"Also, Miss, once you finish changing, please head to the dining hall to have breakfast. Master has asked you to meet him"

"Eh," She replied and got out of her bed. It was a freezing morning and although the bathroom wasn't very spacious, it was equipped with modern appliances. The square mirror showcased her appearance, making her realise that although her existence had been erased her soul hadn't.

Her hair was jet black, her eyes dark brown and her face just as round as she remembered. Hair reaching nape, Hatsuki turned on the tap and washed her face. Later scrubbing her body, she took her time in the bath.

~

Hatsuki walked down the wooden stairs and made her way into the dining area. She wore a white under-tucked top and a gradient violet horse face skirt and a matching outer over it which had a golden lining.

The dining room got plenty of the morning sun, casting a glow on the wooden furniture. At the table was a little round vase and a single orange flower. There was a man on the table, his back facing her. It was a black hanfu with the right shoulder stained in white from which the cranes emerged and flew away.

Feeling her hands tight, Hatsuki made her way around the table and greeted "Good morning" While took a seat a few seats away from him.

"Good morning" The man replied, his covered in a white cloth while his lips were visible, unlike the other day when he was covered in the mask.

There was a moment of silence, but it was soon filled in by the maid. She brought out the kettle poured tea for the two of them and then, served the breakfast in a little round tray. The breakfast consisted of porridge rice and a pickled plum on top. Eggs and mushroom soup with fresh vegetables on the side.

Although Hatsuki was hesitant for a bit, she took the first bite after the master. It was a delicious and hardy breakfast with subtle flavours and warmth. Just like her home where her mother would often make such breakfast since it was the only time they mostly spent together.

In a while once Yuki was done with his food, he wiped his lips and spoke "Let's start the trial then. You shall be coming to the work with me".

Meanwhile, Hatsuki's countenance was beyond astounded.
