Travelling through the interstellar world, starting with the real and fake daughter

Chapter 230 - Survive

The next morning, after the instructor and his three assistants arrived at the Special Talent Training Center, they immediately called everyone to assemble.

When the instructor walked in, everyone instantly recognized him as a retired general.

Even for Mai Dongzi and Mai Zixuan, who were relatively isolated and unaware of many things, they knew just how much this general had contributed to the Blue-Black Empire.

Once they realized who their instructor was, everyone stood at attention, filled with respect.

When the training began, Mai Dongzi realized just how gentle Admiral Su’s training had been in comparison.

Since Mai Dongzi’s cultivation level was higher than that of all the other young trainees at the Special Talent Training Center, she was paired with the general himself as her sparring partner.

The general made her experience firsthand what true “devil-style” training in the interstellar age was like. It was the kind of training that pushed them to their limits, where the only goal was survival—if they didn’t die, they would be pushed until they could barely stand.

When Mai Dongzi and the others arrived, they had initially thought they would only train for a month, but to their surprise, they ended up training for a full three months.

Moreover, it was a form of closed-off training, where they were almost completely cut off from the outside world. Even when given the opportunity to make contact, they were instructed not to reveal any details of their training.

In fact, they didn’t have the energy to contact the outside world. Only they, the trainees, knew what they had gone through in these three and a half months. In short, everyone deeply understood what it truly meant to experience life-and-death situations.

Under such intense special training, combined with special energy potions provided by the Empire to assist with cultivation, everyone’s cultivation levels soared. More than half of the trainees broke through level six and reached level seven.

As for Mai Dongzi and Mai Zixuan, who were already at level seven, their advancement wasn’t as fast as the others, but under the general’s training, their combat abilities continued to improve.

Mai Dongzi, in particular, showed remarkable progress. From initially being able to spar only about forty or fifty moves, she could now last four or five hundred moves against the general without being defeated. This was a clear indication of how much her combat abilities had increased.

But this wasn’t even their greatest improvement—the most significant progress was in mecha piloting.

Before this special training, Mai Dongzi’s ability to control a mecha was limited to simple flying and basic movements.

But after the special training, she could now pilot a mecha and spar with the general for hundreds of rounds without losing.

Although the general had a higher cultivation level and more experience, spiritual-element ability users had a natural advantage in mecha piloting. With Mai Dongzi’s inherent understanding and sharp learning ability, she surpassed the others in mecha combat.

On the last day of training, the general gathered them in a secret room for a meeting.

“You are a born warrior, with high cultivation potential and talent. Given time, you could become the number one expert in the Blue-Black Empire or even the Dacula star system. It’s just a pity…” At the end of the meeting, the general sighed as he spoke to Mai Dongzi.

The general had a very high opinion of Mai Dongzi. If she hadn’t already become Admiral Su’s disciple, he would have certainly taken her as his own.

Therefore, he deeply regretted that Mai Dongzi had been born in such an unfortunate time, as the apocalypse was about to arrive before she could fully mature.

Everyone understood what the general meant by “a pity,” as he had already shared the news that the apocalypse was imminent.

“You guys’ only task during the apocalypse is to survive—survive at any cost. If you can survive, with your cultivation potential, you’ll definitely be able to support the world after the apocalypse. The future world will need young people like you,” the general said.

Everyone remained silent. When the general informed them that the apocalypse would arrive in a month, there was no surprise in anyone’s expression.

Over the past three months, the training led by the general and his officers, as well as the subtle hints they had dropped, had already made them aware that a great disaster was coming.

The anxiety they felt due to this information gradually calmed as their combat abilities grew stronger through the intense training.

Now, when the general directly told them about the impending apocalypse, it was merely to prepare them for how they would face the end of the world and increase their chances of survival.

After the general finished speaking, everyone in the special training center was given a space device provided by the Empire.

Mai Dongzi took a look at it. The space device was not large, but it was packed with all sorts of supplies, from daily necessities to combat weapons.

This space device was a new invention of the Blue-Black Empire, and the food inside could stay fresh for at least five years.

More importantly, this space device was different from previous models. After they had dropped their blood for gene binding, the device would vaporize into a thin sheet resembling skin and attach to the back of their ear. It would never fall off unless they died.

Over the past three months, they had experienced both competition and cooperation, along with envy, jealousy, and various conflicts.

But before parting ways, everyone shared a hug.

This separation left no one knowing how many of them would survive, and this hug might well be their last.

Then, Mai Dongzi, Mai Zixuan, and Lin Qingzhou returned to Imperial University, as the new academic year had begun, and Mai Dongzi became a third-year student.

Zhuang Huaiya and Ren Guang had returned a day earlier than them to Imperial University. As Mai Dongzi had expected, Ren Guang’s cultivation had advanced to early-stage level seven, and Zhuang Huaiya’s cultivation had reached mid-level six.

That evening, Zhuang Huaiya and Mai Zixuan went to Mai Dongzi’s dormitory. Zhuang Huaiya looked somewhat anxious.

“Cousin, my dad actually took Grandpa and Grandma to Blue Water Star without telling me.”

“It was my request to Uncle. Two years ago, when I participated in the survival live-stream game, I won a plot of land on Blue Water Star as a reward. A vacation city has already been built there. So this year, I gave the land to Uncle to manage. The small villas I had designed a few months ago have been completed. Now that the atmosphere on Imperial Star is a bit tense, I asked Uncle to take Grandpa and Grandma to Blue Water Star to vacation.” Mai Dongzi said casually.

Zhuang Huaiya was initially stunned, then looked at her with some suspicion. Mai Dongzi calmly met his gaze.

“Cousin?” Zhuang Huaiya asked cautiously.

“Don’t ask. Don’t speak too much,” Mai Dongzi replied coldly.

Zhuang Huaiya seemed to have realized something. He became excited for a moment, then, noticing the calm expressions of Mai Dongzi and Mai Zixuan, he immediately suppressed his emotions. His previous sense of unease faded significantly.
