"Tree of Crystal Petals"

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Shadows of the past

While the Haruno family spent the entire day at the hospital admiring the new addition to their family, night began to fall. Eventually, Kiseki and Kizashi decided to leave—not because they wanted to, but because a medical ninja informed them that both the mother and baby needed to rest.

Kiseki grumbled internally, wishing he could spend more time with his younger sister, whom he had already started calling "the big forehead." However, he simply responded:

"Alright, Mom. See you tomorrow."

Kizashi gave his wife a kiss goodbye, and both he and Kiseki left the room. As they walked down the hospital corridor, Kizashi asked his son if he had enjoyed meeting his new little sister.

Kiseki, who was paying attention to his surroundings, suddenly noticed a boy with black hair and black eyes dart into the nursery. Behind him, a man who looked very similar, with the same dark eyes and hair, followed him into the room.

Recognizing them instantly, Kiseki thought: That's Itachi… and Fugaku Uchiha.

Realizing which room they had entered, he reflected: That means Sasuke must have already been born—or he's about to be.

Before he could think about it any further, they had already exited the hospital and were walking home.

As they strolled through the streets of Konoha, Kiseki couldn't help but admire how beautiful the village looked at that moment. The streets were lively, filled with smiling faces. However, that happy thought quickly turned somber: All of this will change with the Nine-Tails' attack. How many deaths and how much destruction will it cause? Enough that they'll hate a newborn baby for almost 15 years…

When they arrived home, Kizashi asked his son,

"Do you want anything for dinner?"

Kiseki nodded eagerly, and the two headed to the dining room. There, Kizashi prepared a plate of noodles with sauce and meat, ensuring his son ate well after spending the entire day out with barely any breakfast.

As Kiseki finished his meal, he reflected: It's time to take things seriously. I can't keep acting like just any other kid. I have my sister to protect, and the Nine-Tails' attack is getting closer. I need to be strong enough to protect my loved ones.

With that thought in mind, he made a decision and, somewhat nervously, asked his father:

"Dad, do you know how to unlock chakra?"

Kizashi, who had been eating peacefully, was stunned by his son's question.

"Why do you want to unlock your chakra?" he asked, clearly concerned. "You're so young, Kiseki, and besides, you're a civilian. Do you want to become a ninja?"

Kizashi's tone reflected a mix of worry and surprise. He didn't want his son to follow the same path as his father, but before he could figure out how to respond, Kiseki spoke with determination:

"Yes, I want to be a ninja. I want to protect you, Mom, and especially my little sister."

Kizashi, still processing his son's words, couldn't help but smile at the conviction behind them.

"Do you really mean that, Kiseki? You want to become a ninja for that reason?" he asked, needing confirmation of what he'd just heard.

Kiseki nodded firmly and said:

"I know the life of a ninja is hard, but I'm willing to take that risk if it means I can protect my loved ones."

Moved by his son's resolve at not even four years old, Kizashi replied:

"Alright, Kiseki. I'll support you. But unlocking chakra isn't simple. We'll talk more about it tomorrow."

Kiseki nodded, but he couldn't help but ask:

"Dad, do you have your chakra unlocked?"

Kizashi, surprised by the question, simply nodded.

Kiseki thought to himself: As I suspected. From what I've observed, Mom and Dad seem to have abilities that aren't normal for civilians. From the way they move, they're definitely not ordinary. I wonder why this was never touched on in the original series… Though I won't complain; it's better for me if my parents have shinobi skills.

Once he finished his plate, Kiseki got up from the table and headed to his room. Before leaving, he heard his father say:

"Don't forget to brush your teeth and get to bed early. Tomorrow we'll begin."

Kiseki nodded and, excited for what was to come, went to get ready for bed.

Kizashi, watching his son head to his room to rest, couldn't help but think:

As I suspected, Kiseki wants to be a ninja. I'm not surprised; he's always been so curious about the world around him. And with the abilities we've already noticed… He has extremely strong pink chakra, and if I'm not mistaken, he might develop my mother's sensory ability.

Sighing deeply, Kizashi couldn't hide his worried expression. He didn't want his son to suffer the same fate as his father. He didn't want Kiseki to die on a battlefield like he did.

The reason the Haruno family had always been so cautious was that, in ancient times, they were a prominent clan that had been nearly wiped out during the Warring Clans Era. The few members who remained had gone into hiding, renouncing their abilities or choosing not to become ninjas. After his father's death, the few active Haruno shinobi had mysteriously vanished. That's why Kizashi and Mebuki had decided to retire earlier than planned.

Unfortunately, his mother hadn't been spared either. She had mysteriously disappeared after his father's death.

Letting out another sigh, Kizashi looked at a framed picture hanging on the wall. It depicted three people: two adults and a child.

"Mom, Dad… I hope you can protect your grandson, wherever you are," he said softly.

With those words, Kizashi prepared to go to bed. He knew there would be challenges ahead if Kiseki decided to become a ninja, but he had no doubts: he would support him every step of the way.
