Chapter 14: Su Chen’s Rage
It's been a few months since Su Chen arrived in this Twilight world.
At first, he thought it would be just like the book or TV adaptation—but he hadn't expected that this was a parallel universe of Twilight.
He knew Edythe, but who the hell was this handsome guy named Mark?
Though the other wasn't inferior in appearance, after some digging, Su Chen discovered Mark's background was extremely ordinary.
In terms of family history, Su Chen was leagues ahead—even if his family didn't belong to this world.
His system included a currency converter, allowing him to exchange money from his original world into the currency of this one.
Although he wasn't as rich as his parents, his card still held several billion. Thanks to that, he'd already invested in many companies within this world.
Su Chen believed that within a few years, he would become the richest and most powerful man in this realm.
The reason he wanted to get close to the Cullen family was his ambition to become a vampire and live forever.
Though the vampires in this world weren't to his taste—especially the disco-ball sparkle in sunlight, which he found utterly ugly—Su Chen wasn't concerned.
His system had a feature to correct ability flaws. As long as he removed the weaknesses and kept immortality and super healing, he'd be satisfied.
But Su Chen was furious. His plan to cozy up to the Cullens wasn't working.
He initially tried to win over Edythe when he thought she and Mark were just friends.
But she treated him like air. His chances of becoming a vampire were slipping through his fingers.
Watching Mark and Edythe flirt day after day, seeing the smile she only wore for Mark, Su Chen burned with rage.
Vengeful plans had already begun forming in his heart. Once he became stronger, he intended to make them pay.
At that moment, Mark had unknowingly made an enemy—and even if he found out, he'd probably laugh out loud at Su Chen.
...
It was the weekend, and Mark was busy gaming and munching on his favorite snacks.
Ever since Su Chen showed up, Mark had suspected him of being a teleporting vampire. But upon learning he was human, Mark kept close watch.
When he tried using his mind-reading ability on Su Chen, Mark realized he couldn't read his thoughts—which was highly unusual.
His ability could even read Bella's mind, something Edward couldn't do. So why couldn't it work on Su Chen?
Digging deeper into Su Chen's history, Mark didn't find anything suspicious.
Only after Su Chen started investing in certain companies did Mark suspect he might be a traveler like himself.
Mark didn't investigate too far—worried that Su Chen might also have a system, which could alert him to being watched.
After seeing Su Chen hit on his girl, Mark wanted to send him off to be reincarnated.
But he knew he couldn't act on jealousy—he and Edythe didn't officially have that kind of relationship yet.
He also noticed that Edythe always wore a look of disgust whenever Su Chen approached her—which eased some of the anger in Mark's heart.
Ring-ring.
Just then, the phone rang. Mark paused his game and saw who was calling.
Seeing it was Edythe, he quickly answered.
"Hello?" Mark said in a soft voice.
"Mark?" A calm voice, like birdsong, came through the speaker.
Every time Mark heard that voice, his heart beat faster.
"It's me—what's up?" Mark asked with a smile.
"Nothing... I just wanted to hear your voice," Edythe replied with a flirtatious tone.
"Really? Now that you've heard it, are you satisfied?" Mark teased.
"Satisfied!" Edythe responded.
"I'm glad. What are you up to?" Mark asked.
Edythe went quiet for a long time. Mark almost thought she'd hung up. Just as he was about to speak, her voice returned.
"I was wondering... are you free today?" she asked.
Mark picked up on something and answered: "Yeah, I don't have anything planned this weekend."
His voice was flat, like someone tired of routine.
Edythe was relieved to hear he was free and said: "How about we meet tonight?"
Mark's heart began to race, but he responded quickly.
"Sure. How about we catch a movie?" he suggested.
"Perfect! I'll see you tonight," Edythe replied brightly.
After exchanging a few more words and setting the time, Mark no longer felt like gaming.
He opened his system shop and started looking for a gift for Edythe.
He'd wanted to give her something for a long time but never had the chance. Tonight would be perfect, Mark thought.

I'm only posting one chapter today.
First of all, I want to say something important: if anyone feels offended by what I'm writing, I sincerely apologize.
I'm a big fan of Chinese novels, but sometimes I just don't understand why there's so much emphasis on world domination.
Anyway, Su Chen is like those protagonists who believe that wealth and power are everything.
Once again, I apologize if anyone feels offended. See you next time!
