Twilight - Dimensional Traveler

Chapter 13: Friend or Enemy

A few blocks away, in a deserted alley, a figure appeared.

His name was Su Chen. He was 18 years old, had black hair and eyes, yellow skin, stood 1.85 meters tall, and was of Chinese descent.

Su Chen, like Mark, was also a transmigrator—he had reincarnated into a normal world.

He thought he'd live an ordinary life in this new existence, but then discovered his family was one of the richest in the world.

With assets nearing 100 trillion, Su Chen grew up with the best of everything. It wasn't until he turned 18 that he awakened his system.

His system allowed him to travel to other worlds, where he could gain wealth, supernatural powers, and much more.

The first world he traveled to was his favorite book: Twilight.

After spending money to purchase a new identity for use in this world, Su Chen left the alley, trying to figure out where he'd landed.

He hoped his system had transported him to Forks, where all the events of the book unfolded.

Some time later, Su Chen was sitting in a bar gathering information. After confirming he was in the small town of Forks, he felt elated.

He paid his bill and left—he needed to find somewhere to stay and planned to enroll at the same school Bella attended.

Late that night, Mark lay in bed, monitoring Su Chen. Since the other didn't do anything suspicious, he stopped tracking him.

Maybe the guy was just another vegetarian vampire he hadn't met yet. Sooner or later, they would meet—and only then would Mark know if he was friend or foe.

...

Days passed, and Mark and Edythe grew even closer. Everyone at school knew they were a couple.

Only Mark knew they hadn't taken that step yet. As for Su Chen, he'd been busy and still hadn't enrolled at Forks High School.

The topic of the car accident had settled, and Bella was still trying to understand what Edward had done that day.

She tried questioning Edward, but he kept dodging her questions—which made Bella think he regretted saving her.

That week, there was a school field trip, and Mark went with Edythe. Both had a great time throughout the journey.

During lunch, Eric, Mike, Jessica, and Alice were planning a weekend trip to La Push.

Mark was invited and found it interesting—so he agreed to join.

He tried inviting Edythe, even though he knew she wouldn't accept. Truthfully, he wanted to see her in swimwear.

Every time Mark saw her, he was awestruck by her beauty.

He wanted to take the next step, but he was inexperienced in relationships.

Edythe didn't know how to break through the thin layer of ambiguity either. For her, just being close to Mark was already enough.

She was afraid the other might reject her—which was why they remained stuck in this uncertain stage.

The weekend arrived, and Mark went to La Push with the others.

Bella came along but decided to stay in the car. Just as Mark expected, Jacob appeared and kept Bella company.

Like in the movie, he told Bella the Quileute legend about the Cold Ones.

On Monday morning, a new Chinese transfer student arrived—his name was Su Chen.

Mark immediately recognized him as the guy who had suddenly appeared that day. To his surprise, Su Chen was just an ordinary human.

But what unsettled Mark more was that Su Chen was actively trying to get close to Bella and the Cullens.

He even tried befriending Mark. Since Su Chen acted friendly, Mark remained polite.

But the other's overly flattering behavior seemed suspicious to Mark—so he decided to keep an eye on him.

During this time, Mark secretly monitored Su Chen every day.

What really made Mark want to punch the guy was that, after learning that he and Edythe weren't officially a couple, Su Chen started hitting on Edythe.

Edythe noticed Mark's jealousy whenever Su Chen flirted with her—and it made her heart soar.

She thought Mark looked adorably jealous. As for Su Chen, she was close to losing her patience.

She couldn't figure out what he was after. She'd turned him down multiple times—so why did he keep pursuing her?

Even though she enjoyed seeing Mark jealous, she didn't want him to misinterpret the situation with Su Chen.
