Twilight - Dimensional Traveler

Chapter 18: Murder

Noite Eterna isn't just a jewel—it's closer to a divine artifact.

Using his crafting skill, Mark gave it many special properties. One of them is owner recognition: it belongs to Mark—and now to Edythe. Even if she loses it or someone steals it, the artifact will return to its rightful owner.

Only Mark has the power to transfer ownership. Not even Edythe herself can relinquish it.

Another effect: it's nearly indestructible. And even if someone manages to damage it, it can self-repair back to its original state. Unless someone has enough strength to completely destroy it down to the last atom—if even one particle remains, it will regenerate fully.

Mark simply thought about these things; he didn't plan to tell Edythe, since the artifact also serves as protection.

He'd wanted for a long time to travel between universes, but he planned to reach a level of strength where he could walk freely anywhere.

Su Chen proved to Mark that he was still not strong enough—Mark couldn't see Su Chen's true hidden secrets.

Mark never liked those kinds of novels where the main character rushes off for revenge without enough power—if not for plot armor, they'd have died countless times.

Watching Edythe lovingly caress her gift, Mark said, "Do you want to try it on?"

Edythe, lost in thought, snapped back. After closing the box, she tucked it into the purse she carried.

"No—I'll wear it on prom night, just for you. Speaking of prom, Mark Sanchez... would you like to go with me?" Edythe asked.

"What greater honor could I have? You don't even need to ask—of course I'll go," Mark replied, giving her another kiss.

...

Some time later, Mark walked hand-in-hand with Edythe toward the parking lot.

"Did you drive here? Want me to take you home?" Mark asked.

"Thanks, but I drove," Edythe replied apologetically.

"No problem." They walked in silence, savoring every second before parting.

Eventually, they reached a spot where Mark noticed a silver Land Rover.

As Edythe tugged him toward the vehicle, Mark was surprised. He hadn't expected her to favor such a large car.

"Well, this is mine," Edythe said.

"I imagined something else—but it's a good car," Mark joked.

"Compared to your rusty toy, it's way better," Edythe teased.

"Oof, that hurts," Mark replied, placing a hand over his heart and pretending to be critically wounded.

Edythe laughed and playfully punched Mark's shoulder.

After some light teasing, Mark looked at Edythe and said sincerely, "I really enjoyed spending time with you tonight."

Edythe looked into his eyes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and said flirtatiously, "I loved it too. I hope we can go out like this again."

"If it were up to me, I wouldn't let you go anywhere—I want to be with you all the time," Mark whispered, breathing in her sweet perfume.

Edythe didn't reply—she just kissed Mark passionately.

After some time, they pulled apart.

"See you at school. Call me when you get home," Edythe said as she unlocked the Land Rover and climbed in.

"I'll call. Drive safe," Mark said.

"Sure," she replied—and floored the accelerator, leaving a trail of smoke behind.

Looks like this girl has a wild side, Mark thought, watching the Land Rover's taillights fade into the distance.

As her car disappeared, Mark turned to leave—but glanced toward a dark alley outside the reach of the streetlights.

He spotted someone hidden, watching him and Edythe.

When the figure realized Mark had spotted them, they turned and ran.

Mark noticed—but simply turned back toward his car.

On the way home, he saw several police cars and an ambulance parked near a house.

He drove by, remembering the incident from the film. If he was right, a few human-blood-drinking vampires had caused trouble recently.

Mark felt like he should take a day to hunt. He didn't know if things would play out like they had in the movie.

Or maybe he should wait for them to come to him. He figured Edythe would eventually invite him to her family's baseball game.

Mark looked forward to it. He just hoped Edythe revealed the truth about herself before then.

That way, he could show her his "Six Paths Sage Mode." Mark was thrilled just imagining it.

It would be a stunning scene: him in a cloak of chakra, with several Truth-Seeking Orbs floating behind him.

The chapters are coming out late because I wasn't in the right mindset to write.

I haven't been sleeping well these days, and my mind is a bit tired, which makes me feel unmotivated.

After gathering the courage, it took almost six hours to write these two chapters.

I truly hope you enjoy them.

I was wondering which world the MC should go to, or if he should just stay in the Twilight world a little longer.

That's all.

Until next time...
