Twilight Reign: The Violet Lightning

Chapter 10: Twins of Silence

The forest behind Forks whispered with unease. The winds changed direction, birds silenced their songs, and even the wolves stayed to the shadows.

They had arrived.

Jane and Alec. Twins in death. Silent executioners of the Volturi.

Dressed in flowing black, their steps made no sound on pine needles. Jane's red eyes glowed with cruelty, while Alec's were unreadable beneath his hood. The air thickened with dread as they crossed into Forks' borders.

"We strike subtly," Jane said. "She must act first."

Alec nodded once. "If she doesn't, we break her."

---------------

At the Cullen household, Carlisle gathered the family.

"Jane and Alec are in Forks. I received confirmation from a contact in Italy," he said, hands folded tightly.

"Already?" Edward asked, voice sharp.

"They didn't come for tea," Emmett muttered.

Alice's gaze flickered to Raiko. "They want to force her hand."

Rosalie stood protectively beside Raiko. "We can't let her face them alone."

"I'm not asking for protection," Raiko said softly. "But I won't endanger your family."

"You're part of it," Alice whispered.

Carlisle nodded. "Then we prepare. No bloodshed unless they strike first."

Raiko's hand tightened at her side. "They'll push. That's what Jane does. Pain is her weapon."

---------------

The next day, they made their move.

Jane appeared first — in the college library. Students froze without knowing why. Air went cold. Lights dimmed.

Raiko was studying a journal on pre-electric energy when Jane sat across from her.

"You're prettier than I expected," Jane said flatly.

Raiko didn't look up. "You're exactly as I imagined."

Jane's smile didn't reach her eyes. "Aro wanted you to know he regrets sending the scout. But not the message."

Raiko closed the book. "And the message is?"

"You are not welcome in our world."

Raiko stood slowly. The moment she did, students nearby began quietly evacuating.

"And yet here I stand."

"Not for long," Jane said. Then she focused.

Raiko felt it — a prick in her skull, pressure behind her eyes.

Pain- sharp, burning, crippling.

But she did not fall.

Raiko's hand sparked. The pressure evaporated.

Jane blinked,"You resist me?"

Raiko stepped forward, eyes glowing violet. "No, Jane. I erase you."

A flicker of lightning sparked just beside Jane's head, singeing a strand of her hair. She stumbled back.

Alec emerged behind her, mist rolling from his sleeves. "Enough."

Raiko faced them both. "You've made your move. Now go."

Jane hissed. "You won't win."

"I already have."

Behind her, Alice and Rosalie had arrived. No words were needed — just presence.

The twins vanished into mist, but their threat lingered.

---------------

That night, Raiko stood on a cliff overlooking the sea. Alice and Rosalie flanked her, silent.

"They'll come again," Raiko said. "With more."

Alice touched her arm. "Then we'll be ready."

Rosalie added, "Together."

Raiko breathed deeply. "I was alone once," she whispered. "But not anymore."

The sky lit with silent lightning, and in the distance, thunder answered.
