Chapter 8: New Survivor?
Alexi thought he had fully adapted to his experience there with Elina, but in fact it could not be denied that his body's reaction was still bad when Elina took him jumping here and there with big steps.
His stomach seemed to want to scream complaining about the attraction done by the owner of the body.
"El..-Elina, it seems like I can't--"
Quickly, Elina who realized it immediately turned her head right when she landed in a large park not far from their destination.
Hoekk ...
Alexi emptied his stomach again. He really didn't expect to emptied his stomach again in front of Elina. Clear liquid that was not too much was what he could see when Alexi emptied his stomach, because of the large amount of liquid that came out.
Wait ...
'I haven't eaten, right? Why doesn't my stomach feel sore even though it's been hours since my normal meal time?'
The surprise on Alexi's face was clearly printed there. There was an element of worry and fear mixed together when Alexi froze a little.
Until….
"Don't stop your feet," said Elina, asking Alexi to walk on the spot.
Alexi had no choice but to follow Elina's words, and tried to look at the girl carefully.
"Don't we need an energy source to fill our bodies here?"
Elina frowned, trying to understand Alexi's intended sentence.
"I...- I mean we don't need to eat here?" Alexi asked clearly in the end when Elina didn't understand his previous sentence.
A soft chuckle was heard from the lips of the girl in front of him. It sounded funny to Elina where Alexi had just realized something like that for almost a whole day.
She thought Alexi wouldn't realize it.
"It's not that we don't need it all, sometimes we need it if we get attacked and our blood decreases, which is marked by our hands starting to turn pale, but if it is still within reasonable limits, not less than 50% of the energy needs, then we can be said to be safe.
Alexi was once again forced to face the reality that the world he was standing on now was not the same world as he knew before, now he himself began to doubt whether he could still be called a whole human or not.
What really happened to him?
How did he end up here?
"Then where do we get a source of energy if our bodies start not meeting their needs?"
Elina pointed to the backpack used by Alexi.
"This?"
Elina nodded her head.
"There are reserves of your food needs around 5 packs just like our lives, only if it is not enough you can take it at the end of the zone before exiting the door from each zone."
Again Alexi seemed amazed at every word of Elina who according to him the girl really mastered the game here.
"I think I really have to learn a lot from you."
A smile was given by Elina while saying, "That's for sure."
Not far from them there was a large mirror, a reflection of the sky that displayed a color shift every 20 minutes.
"Come on, we have to hurry before the mirror reflects the color to another place," said Elina who realized why she found it so difficult to find the last box which contained the key to the final door in Zone 2.
Alexi nodded his head and started running again towards a large box next to the mirror that functioned to reflect the light.
Carefully Alexi volunteered to open the box there.
There was a key in the form of a code above the box.
For a moment Alexi stared at the box in confusion, because he had no clue about the codes around him to answer the code on the key listed.
The only code on the box was a picture of a human icon.
'Is it possible?'
Alexi closed his eyes trying to look up at the sky to see the number of survivors left.
'Sixty-two? Three more dead?'
With doubt he pressed the numbers 6 and 2. Not long after a click sound was heard again only the box did not open completely.
"Have you ever opened this box?"
"I have, I just forgot. Ah survivor! What numbers did you enter before?"
"Numbers Six and Two."
"Same?!"
Elina's heartbeat seemed to rumble. She thought everything would be natural as how many survivors were left as it went on, then the code there would change according to the number of survivors, but considering the same number as the last time she did it, it was not strange that a few hours ago it seemed like the Central Zone had spent some of the survivors.
Alexi who heard Elina's scream, of course turned his head without saying anything.
'Everything has been arranged.'
The previously orange sky slowly began to change slightly.
"I think the remaining twenty minutes are almost over."
Where is this?
A question appeared on the box.
Alexi frowned, before his hand immediately clicked the letters as an answer.
U-N-I-V-E-R-S-E
The clicking sound was heard quite loudly again and after that the box opened, showing a red button.
'Is this to be pressed?'
Seeing Alexi's hesitant behavior, Elina this time pressed the red button.
An iron door appeared out of nowhere not far from her position.
"You did it! The zone still needs two more hours, and you activated the door. Let's get out."
Elina immediately pulled Alexi's hand towards the door that she thought would open with a limited time, because the clock should still be running, not to mention the sky that was starting to change indicating that the position of the final door would soon change.
With one high jump, both of them were now in front of the door that had just opened.
Just as they were out, the door that had previously been open closed again.
"That was close."
Alexi was quite amazed by the game he was exploring. He couldn't believe that all the Zones seemed to require strong calculations and intuition.
What if he wasn't someone who liked to solve things or was lazy to calculate? Would he eventually be able to get out of the existing Zones?
He couldn't imagine that!
Honestly, he definitely wouldn't have a whole life if it weren't for Elina's help.
He should be grateful for that.
"Where are we now?"
Elina gave her a shrug because honestly, she didn't know for sure about the Zone she was currently in, the last time she wasn't there for too long, because when she came Zone 3 had already been opened.
For a moment Elina looked back at the sky to make sure of everything.
However ...
"Different!"
"What do you mean?"
"There are no numbers listed up there."
Hearing that, of course Alexi tried what Elina had done before, and the results were the same.
The notification sound was heard quite loudly in both of their ears almost simultaneously.
Alexi spontaneously looked at his hand when he felt an object that was previously not there was now in his hand.
"Wow! I have it!" Alexi shouted happily, when he realized that he now had the same bracelet as Elina's on her hand.
"Congratulations," said Elina extending her hand towards Alexi, which was immediately replied by the young man.
Both of them reflexively opened the existing notification.
[Mission]
Mission: Find a friend
Reward: Get 1000 points
"Aren't we friends?" Elina whispered softly.
Alexi nodded while extending his hand which was welcomed by the girl, "We are friends."
A new notification immediately entered their bracelets.
[Congratulations! You have completed the mission. You get 1000 points]
Both of them exchanged silent smiles at each other, as if their eyes could understand what they were saying.
"This is cool!"
Alexi could not stop feeling excited about his current world.
Elina felt like laughing at her new partner who acted like a child in her eyes.
"Let's go, let's explore this place," said Elina who was now holding Alexi's hand, inviting him to move from his current position.
Both of them were quite amazed by their surroundings. Because their surroundings did not seem like they really existed in the real world.
He could see beautiful colored flowers, but they seemed a little different in type and size.
Until they saw a tree house not far from their position.
"Do you want to go there?"
Without hesitation Alexi agreed to the question, because the tree house caught his attention.
Carefully, the two climbed the stairs attached to the tree to access the house that was quite high up there.
The tree house looked quite sturdy with neat wood made to form a slightly curved nest house unlike the usual tree houses that she often found.
Elina knocked on the door of the tree house first, as she tried to respect the owner of the tree house, because they didn't know whether the tree house was an empty residence or not.
There was no answer from inside the tree house.
"How?"
Elina shook her head when there was no response.
"Is it locked?"
For a moment Elina seemed hesitant, but with a heavy heart she pushed the door.
The door opened easily like a tree house that had been left alone.
Until...
An arrow suddenly shot quickly beside Elina's cheek.
"Gosh!" Alexi screamed quite surprised, with Elina who actually narrowed her eyes trying to find movement from the opponent who was deliberately targeting her.
"Sorry, if you think I'm being presumptuous in opening the tree house door, but wouldn't it be better for you to get out of there?" Elina whispered casually when predicting the hiding place that sent the arrow to her.
A soft squeak was heard lazily when a little boy who looked like an elementary school child dangled jumping from a tree towards the tree house they were occupying.
'Little boy?'
The boy's gaze looked annoyed at Elina and Alexi, as if he had been caught red-handed by the two men and women who were now leaning against the medium-sized tree house.
"New survivor?"
The boy snapped as he opened the door and invited Alexi and Elina in.
"How did you know we were new here?"
The boy sighed softly, and soon pointed at the two of them.
Reflexively, Elina and Alexi looked at each other, not understanding the gesture given to them.
"Can you explain?"
A soft sigh was heard from the boy, before inviting the two of them to sit down.
"Steven," said the boy suddenly, before a siren-like sound rang loudly inside the tree house.
"What is that?"
"Just sit down, I'll take care of it in five minutes. This has happened often lately," said Steven who soon disappeared leaving Alexi and Elina full of confusion.
What happened?
