Vampire Cultivation System in a Hidden World of Monsters

Chapter 87: Burning Desires

I rode through the caverns on the Phantom, holding the compass in my left hand. It seemed to be indicating that the nearest portal was down but I didn't know how to go down in the cavern.

I kept riding around until I found a hole and I jumped down into it. I fell about thirty feet. Somehow the bike survived the fall. I looked for the next hole and the next hole, until I made it down.

I recognized the red buildings of the Dragon Sect almost immediately. Everything was destroyed and crumbling. There were monsters and dungeon enemies everywhere just roaming around and destroying things.

I wasn't sure whether to fight the monsters or look for survivors, so I chose both. I killed any monsters that came near me while I looked for survivors that might be trapped by the fallen and collapsed buildings.

I sliced a cyclops in half, then I murdered a whole tribe of goblins. I defeated a group of ogres, or maybe they were Oni—I wasn't sure. That took a little more time than I would have liked. And I decimated a group of ninjas that were sneaking around the sect grounds.

I would give more detail on the fights, but that wasn't my focus right now. My focus was finding survivors. So I looked through every building and tore apart every pile of rubble to see if there was anyone I could save.

There were humanoid and human sized dragons all over the sect. Their bodies littered the ground. The amount I saw didn't account for the full number of members I saw when I first visited though.

The majority of the sect must have abandoned this area just to survive the onslaught of monster hordes. When I was digging through a pile of rubble, I heard a muffled voice.

It was coming from under the pile of rubble I was digging through. I kept digging, picking up chunks of debris and throwing it behind me. A body started to be uncovered from under the rubble. I immediately tried to uncover their face once I saw the outline of their body.

I didn't know how well they could breathe, if at all. When I uncovered their face, I recognized them. It was Maven Zengo, the wife of Elder Florick Zengo of the Dragon Sect.

Her long white hair was caught in the rubble. I dug it out so she could lift her head and body out of the pile. She stood up and brushed herself off. She was wearing a red dress that complemented the red scales on her arms and hands.

She had small gray blue antlers on her head. The dress complimented her curvy, but fit figure. Her face appeared ageless. She appeared to simultaneously be in her twenties and thirties, despite the fact that as a dragon, she was likely eons old.

"Dylan! What are you doing here?" She said.

"I was trying to save the Dragon Sect from being destroyed by the monsters, but it looks like I'm too late," I said.

"Yeah, you are. Why didn't you come earlier? What happened to our plan to have you face off against the Dragon Sect to get access to the portals?" She said.

"The Vampire Association imprisoned me for a month and then tried to execute me. I was barely able to escape," I said. "I got down here as quick as I could."

"Really? Are you ok?" She said, as she turned my face left and right to check me for wounds or marks I assume.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just worried about you. I'm glad I was able to save you before you starved or suffocated under there. How long were you like that?" I said, holding her close to me.

"Maybe a couple hours," she said, like it was no big deal.

"A couple hours? I'm so sorry! Where's your husband? I didn't see him amongst the fallen," I said.

"Probably far away from here. He said that he was going to lead the sect to safety, and then I got buried under debris, and he never came for me," she said, crying, tears running down her cheeks.

"I'm so sorry. You're safe. I'm here to protect you," I said, petting the back of her head.

"Oh, thank you Dylan. You saved my life. I don't know what I'd do without you," she said hugging me tight. "I knew you were good when I first met you."

"Aww, thank you. You're too kind. I'm just glad you're safe," I said, brushing the hair out of her face. "Now, I don't know where or how far your husband took the Dragon Sect, so I can't deliver you to them, but I have my own group that are going to travel around beating portal dungeons and fighting monsters to keep people safe. You're welcome to come with. Actually, I'd like you to come with."

"I'd like that," she said.

"Well let's get on our way, there are monsters all over the place down here and I can't defeat the dungeons and keep you safe at the same time," I said as I turned to walk away.

"Wait," she grabbed my arm. "There's something else I need from you before we go."

"What's that?" I said, already knowing the answer. The chemistry was there, and her husband just left her for dead.

"Come here and I'll tell you," she said as she pulled me close and kissed me on the lips.

I held the kiss with her for I don't know how long. It was a passionate kiss. One I had been denying myself for a long time. I felt the chemistry with her before, but then we had constraints. Now, all the constraints and things holding us back were gone.

We could express our desire for each other without repercussions or guilt. We kissed and made out for minutes before coming up for air.

"Wow. You're a good kisser," she said.

"Thanks," I said. "You're pretty good yourself."

Maven looked deep into my eyes with a yearning and desire quite unlike anything I had ever seen before. She opened her mouth to say something, and said, "There's a bedroom just down the hall."

"Perfect," I said, picking her up in a bridle carry and walking down the hall with her. We entered the bedroom. I casually threw her on the bed and closed the door.
