Chapter 1371: Gruesome Training 1
-----
A hundred million mutant beasts.
It was a challenge like nothing they had ever faced before.
The Virtual World Blake and Aurora had created was simply ridiculous.
And yet, this was their first challenge, to do the impossible.
Why?
Because Blake was going to make them do the impossible over and over and over again.
Without mercy.
Ruthlessly.
Until they were able to get past their own weakness and reach even further beyond.
Levels were secondary now; their stats could increase over time through cultivation and constant exercise and physical and magical activity.
Their spirits could also train over and over again, and even die if they had, and simply revive later.
This way, they would rapidly recover faster and faster, increase their maximum quantity of Mana and spirit energy, and improve.
Magic, spirit energy, and controlling mana was all like a muscle, they had been using it since they were born, but they had never pushed it past their complete limits.
The only time it happened to an extent was against Mammon, but even then, most of them were humiliated, unable to overcome such a terrifying challenge.
The Mutants were rather strong, stronger than the Lizardmen they had been battling so far, although weaker than their Draconic Generals.
Compared to other monsters, they were A Rank. And this time, they didn't have Blake to help them out with his Summons, it was all up to them to survive and win.
"Graaaahhhh!"
Erika roared furiously as she was constantly sweating, swinging her swords and splitting dozens of mutants apart, but hundreds more came after her, attacking her from every angle.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
She was unable to do a single thing as she was being so overwhelmed, at some point she ended on the floor, stomped constantly by countless gigantic beasts!
And yet…
"D-DAMMIT!"
She screamed, her magic manifested, hundreds of sharp wooden branches manifested out of the ground and began moving everywhere, piercing her foes constantly.
RUMBLE!
The monsters were sent flying away by a shockwave of energy coming from her body, her branches pierced them constantly, Erika's eyes turned red, as her draconic power continuously grew stronger.
"FUCK!!!"
Erdrich screamed in utter agony, frustration, and fear, dozens of monsters constantly were biting and slashing his body, his spirits couldn't just help him do everything and were barely offering enough support.
"UUAAAAAGGHHH!"
As he bled and screamed, his blood burned, turning into black and red flames, powering him up constantly as he started tearing apart his foes, jumping from monster to monster without end!
"ERIC!!!"
"ALBERTA! DON'T SEPARATE FROM ME!"
Eric and Alberta stayed together with the rest of their friends, giving each other their backs as they endless fired as many arrows and cannons as they could from their spirit weapons as possible.
The mutants were relentless, charging in, disrupting their formation, and separating them, beginning to chase them and aiming to stomp them do death.
Eric was battered with constant blows, his wooden armor shattering and regenerating over and over again.
Meanwhile, Alberta was also pushing herself endlessly, firing more and more cannons, manipulating her aura, beginning to use it properly as her spirits unified with it, getting inside her golem spirit and piloting it, only for it to die and explode and for her to get kicked around and even bitten.
"ALBERTAAAAA!"
Eric, seeing Alberta being battered and bleeding, screamed with fury, his glasses breaking apart as he rushed towards her, winds and wood gathering around him, constantly shifting, he put his mind, everything into this.
"Do I really need to limit myself to just arrows?! WINDS…! WOOD…! I…!"
And in that moment, hundreds of wind arrows in the sky manifested and merged, creating a gigantic emerald wind hand, rushing down and destroying dozens of mutants at once, shredding them apart, and protecting Alberta.
"E-Eric…!"
In tears, Alberta saw Eric appear before her, but there wasn't any time to get emotional, even less in this training.
"I have never run out of Mana at all…! haaah… I'm just tired but we can compensate with it using healing spells! Alberta, Blake is supplying us with endless Mana! We don't have to worry about saving reserves, we have to go all-out, don't stop!"
"A-Ah! Yes!" Alberta nodded, gritting her teeth, her aura surging from her body with Eric, as they faced impossible odds together.
"This is ridiculous! Blake! What sort of joke is this?! Do you want us dead?! Have you gone insane?!"
Elfriedden was complaining constantly as he spread endless gardens of ice everywhere he could, trying to fend off the mutants.
However, although he could freeze many to death, many more survived, broke through his ice, and kicked him, stomped him, bit him, and even spit venom on his face.
"RAAAAHHH!"
And as he was growing more and more desperate, Elfriedden snapped, ice everywhere spread constantly, instantly freezing everything around him!
FLAAASH!
"A-Ahh…?"
In that moment, he killed almost a hundred mutants.
His eyes widened, realizing that such a power was dwelling within him this entire time.
"GRUOOOHHH!"
CRASH!
But more and more of those monsters appeared, breaking through his ice fortress, and reaching him once more.
"DAMMIT!"
With anger and frustration, he manifested hundreds of ice spears and ice needles, puncturing his foes without end.
"E-Everyone! Please don't separate from the rest! Braveblitz, thanks for all your support so far!"
Elizabeth was constantly conjuring barriers, healing, and buffing her friends. She was gasping for air, growing more and more tired, but pushing through anyway.
"Don't… mind it, Elizabeth!"
BAAM! BAAM! BAAM! BAAM!
Braveblitz protected Elizabeth as he punched countless foes with his metallic fists, sending them flying away, he had cracks all over as well, and looked exhausted.
"W-We have to push through somehow! Blake knows this is the only way; we cannot disappoint him!"
"Y-You're right… Haahh… The Saintess Spells exhaust me too much, I need to get used to conjuring them as swiftly and as easily as breathing! Or else… I will never be able to truly protect this world as the Saintess of the people…!"
Elizabeth's eyes shone bright gold…
"I must push myself to my limits and beyond… or die trying."
