Chapter 1372: Gruesome Training 2
-----
The battle seemed never-ending, it continued for not just hours, but days.
Blake saw as everyone cried, bled, screamed, vomited, and continued standing back up, even when they fell unconscious, mana would suddenly awake them again, and Blake's Aura he had infused into them.
As they felt the pain of fighting endlessly and as their bones broke and healed, as their flesh was torn and healed too, and as they exhausted themselves to almost death…
After nine days of endless battle.
After nine nights of endless frustration.
Of blood, sweat, and tears…
"Haaah… Haahh… Haaahh…"
Erika stood there, in silence, gasping for air.
Her hair was messy, she was covered by sweat and blood, her eyes looked exhausted.
"W-We did… it…?"
Before her was an endless sea of corpses…
One hundred million mutant monsters, all A Rank in strength.
Her friends were all around her, already unconscious.
Not even Mana could keep them awake anymore.
It was only Erika that lasted this long until the very last mutant was slain, protecting everyone.
Perhaps due to her unique physiology as a dryad, a plant spirit, and also due to her dragon heart fueling her endless battle spirit.
Her spirits too, were exhausted, they died over a hundred times and revived over and over again.
After dying and reviving so much, they started getting larger, and meaner too, more experienced at fighting, even their appearances began growing… more fit for battle.
"S-So even spirits… can adapt… huh? They can grow like… us…"
"Well done, Erika."
"B-Blake?"
Erika's eyes widened, as she saw Blake smiling behind her.
"Blake…!"
She tried to jump over him but could barely move.
With a single step, she ended up falling to the ground.
Or well, she didn't.
"There… calm down, you did it."
He caught her in his arms, looking at her with a gentle smile.
"D-Did I get… stronger?" Erika wondered.
"Yes, you did…" Blake smiled proudly, kissing her dry lips. "Now rest, I'll take care of everything now."
"Hmm…" Erika's eyes closed on his arms.
"Alright, Aurora, move to them to the resting grounds. They'll rest for three days at the very least."
"Very well."
FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH!
As they were all teleported, Blake and Aurora oversaw their recovery, feeding them food, taking care of them over their bed, and so on.
In fact, they were spoiled like never before!
Blake also prepared amazing food that boosted the regeneration of muscles, bones, organs, spirit, soul, and even the mind.
With countless elixirs, they recovered in just three days, indeed.
After that, it was time to see how strong they had become, a quick training where they battled Blake's Vampires.
The battles were long, and everyone was able to test how they had grown.
Their entire arsenal of skills and magic…
It felt as if it had expanded out of nowhere!
"Oh waow! Hahaha!"
Erika celebrated; she had become twice as strong out of nowhere. Faster, lighter, her magic moved naturally, and… she could even use a few words sometimes, to conjure magic that altered the elements in front of her to a little extent.
She was in the beginning stages of developing Dragon Tongue!
"W-What's this?"
Eric couldn't believe it when he saw the winds obeying him and taking multiple forms, or how the wood he created suddenly turned deep black, becoming as hard as steel.
"Is this… really my power?"
Elfriedden couldn't believe when he could freeze everything so quickly, and even slow down other elements with a constantly freezing atmospheric aura. He could also instantly create a mini domain of ice anywhere at any time, with a mere thought.
"E-Eh?!"
Chris flames twisted strangely, glowing with holy and phantasmal colors, holy and cursed fire combined, causing twisting and chaotic explosions that dealt destructive damage and could even break through magical barriers with ease. By infusing this fire into his body, he could even make himself stronger in exchange for losing lifeforce.
"Hah… Ridiculous."
Erdrich's body when turning into his demon form suddenly became one third bigger than before, and he could now sprout multiple arms without any efforts and also switch between his phases without as much pain or suffering as before. His spirits also complemented his strength better.
"Oh wow!"
Alberta realized she could combine all her spirits into a giant Warrior Golem powered by a Spirit Flame born from her own Aura. And although not yet mastered at all, she felt like she could merge with her aura and partially turn into spirit flames, to fuel the golem as its "soul" in a way.
"This is… I am not so tired anymore, and the barriers… W-Was this always the power of my barriers…?!"
Elizabeth discovered the spells of a Saintess wouldn't tire her out as much anymore. Also, the barriers she could conjure would now obey her and would shape into many forms much more easily, from barrier blades, fists, shields, armor, and even bubbles or "barrier force" to carry things like telekinesis.
And yet, despite their incredible growth…
None could defeat Blake's Vampires!
"You lack experience, Erika. We'll continue battling until your wood isn't weak to my fire anymore," Eleanora said with a gentle smile, as Erika lost consciousness.
It was mostly the same, each Vampire Spirit provided them with valuable lessons and taught them to better themselves and never stop striving to higher realms.
Eventually, after resting for another day, their training resumed.
"W-Where am I?"
After spending a nice break day with her boyfriend and friends, Erika was teleported to a completely different place.
A volcanic landscape!
"W-Why not a forest or something? Wouldn't it be better there?"
"No, this will be our training ground, Erika. Your weakness to fire is too obvious and dangerous, even more that of demon and curse elements, we're going to make sure you're no longer weak against them."
Eleanora appeared in front of her with Blake, as he nodded.
"B-But how?!"
"You'll go through intense training, you'll burn by these flames, and you'll suffer through countless curses, and heal back from all of that, constantly. For how long? Until not only you're no longer weak to them, but your powers, especially your wood, an extension of your flesh, has become resilient enough to resist it easily."
"E-EEEH?!"
