Chapter 11: A Moment for Kanata

The cool night breeze wrapped around Jisso as she stood on the rooftop, gazing up at the star-speckled sky. The moon's soft glow illuminated the villa grounds below, casting eerie shadows over the dense trees that surrounded the estate. She hugged herself, lost in a tangle of thoughts and emotions she didn't fully understand.

She could barely remember her real mother—only fleeting images remained, blurry like an old dream. A soft touch, a faint lullaby, and a distant voice calling her name with warmth she could no longer grasp. Most of what she knew came from her adoptive mother, who had always spoken of her birth mother with a tenderness that made Jisso ache inside.

As she traced patterns on the cold stone railing with her fingers, she heard soft footsteps approaching from behind. Turning, she saw Kanata standing a few feet away, his violet eyes watching her with a mix of curiosity and something softer—concern, perhaps.

**Kanata:** "You always come up here when you're overthinking."

Jisso smiled faintly, shifting her gaze back to the moon.

**Jisso:** "It's peaceful up here… helps me think."

Kanata leaned against the railing beside her, his gaze following hers toward the sky.

**Kanata:** "Thinking about your mother?"

Jisso nodded slowly, her voice quieter now.

**Jisso:** "Yeah... but the truth is, I don't really remember her. I only have pieces... like how she used to hum this song at night, or the way her hands felt when she held me. Everything else... it's all things my adoptive mom told me."

Kanata was silent for a moment, as if weighing his words carefully before speaking.

**Kanata:** "Your mother... she knew about us. Long before you did. Felix trusted her, and she trusted him."

Jisso turned to look at him, confusion flickering in her eyes.

**Jisso:** "What do you mean? My mom knew... about vampires?"

Kanata exhaled, nodding.

**Kanata:** "Yeah. Felix told her everything. He trusted her enough to leave you in her care when things got dangerous. He wanted to keep you away from all of this for as long as possible."

Jisso looked down at her hands, trying to absorb his words.

Kanata tilted his head slightly, his expression thoughtful.

**Kanata:** "She was trying to protect you. Just like Felix wanted."

Jisso bit her lip, her emotions swirling inside her.

**Kanata:** "She loved you, Jisso. And love makes people do crazy things."

Jisso let out a small, bitter laugh.

**Jisso:** "Yeah... I guess it does."

She gazed at the stars again, her mind replaying the fragments of memories she had—of warm arms, of soft lullabies, and of the faint scent of jasmine that used to cling to her mother's clothes.

**Jisso (softly):** "My adopted mother always said that life is full of unexpected twists… but she never could have prepared me for this."

Kanata leaned closer, his voice gentler than usual.

**Kanata:** "Sometimes... you don't get to prepare. You just survive."

Jisso looked at him, a flicker of appreciation in her eyes.

**Jisso:** "Thanks, Kanata. For telling me."

Kanata smirked, nudging her lightly.

**Kanata:** "Don't get used to it."

Jisso rolled her eyes, but deep down, she felt a little lighter. She reached into the pocket of her cardigan and pulled out a small, tattered piece of paper—an old letter from her adoptive mother, one she had read countless times. She unfolded it carefully, the words familiar yet always comforting.

*"My dearest Jisso,*

*No matter where life takes you, always remember—you are stronger than you think, and love will always guide you home."*

Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, but she blinked them away, tucking the letter safely back into her pocket.

As Kanata left her alone with her thoughts, Jisso whispered softly to herself,

**Jisso:** "I hope I'm making you proud, Mom."

And somewhere in the darkness, the wind seemed to carry her words away, as if delivering them straight to the heart that once held her so tightly.

As Jisso takes it, she feels a strange but comforting warmth, realizing that despite kanata teasing nature, there's a genuine care behind his words. The night feels lighter as they head back inside together.

Jisso stood outside on the villa's balcony, letting the cool night air calm her restless mind. The events of the past few days weighed heavily on her, and exhaustion was starting to creep in. With a deep sigh, she turned to head back inside when a familiar voice stopped her in her tracks.

**Kanata:** "So… going to sleep, huh?"

Jisso turned to see Kanata leaning casually against the doorframe, his signature playful smirk plastered across his face.

**Jisso (raising an eyebrow):** "What do you *think* I'd be doing at this time?"

**Kanata (shrugging):** "I dunno… maybe a private night with me?"

Jisso's eyes widened as she stared at him in disbelief.

**Jisso:** "What's with you all of a sudden?"

Kanata crossed his arms and tilted his head, his expression turning slightly more serious.

**Kanata:** "Sometimes, I think I'm jealous of my own brothers."

Jisso blinked in confusion.

**Jisso:** "Huh? Why would you be jealous of them?"

Kanata sighed dramatically, running a hand through his purple locks.

**Kanata:** "Because they get to have their moments with you... but I, I haven't had any. I want a little moment too."

Jisso felt a blush creep onto her cheeks, shifting uncomfortably under his gaze.

**Jisso:** "Is that so…"

Kanata took a step closer, his voice softer now but laced with playful mischief.

**Kanata:** "I want to sleep with you… in your bedroom."

Jisso's eyes widened in shock, and she nearly choked on her words.

**Jisso:** "W-what the hell are you saying?!"

Instead of answering seriously, Kanata pouted and clasped his hands together, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

**Kanata:** "I want it, I want it!"

He started bouncing slightly on his feet, acting like a child who wasn't getting what he wanted from his mother.

Jisso groaned, rubbing her temples.

**Jisso:** "No way, Kanata. Don't act like a child!"

Kanata leaned in closer, flashing his best puppy-dog eyes.

**Kanata (pleading):** "Please?"

Jisso hesitated, biting her lip. The longer she looked at him, the harder it became to say no.

**Jisso:** "But… I—"

Before she could finish, Kanata's eyes grew even wider, his voice dripping with exaggerated desperation.

**Kanata:** "Pleeeeeaaassseee?"

Jisso sighed in defeat, rolling her eyes.

**Jisso:** "Fine. Come on."

In an instant, Kanata's face lit up with pure excitement.

**Kanata (grinning):** "Yay!"

Without another word, he grabbed her hand and practically dragged her toward her bedroom, his enthusiasm making Jisso question her decision.

As they entered the room, Jisso shook her head with a small smile, unable to deny that Kanata's antics had a way of making her forget her worries—at least for a little while.
