Chapter 840: A Herculean Task

Villain Ch 840. A Herculean Task

Noah nodded, his face reflecting a mixture of determination and gratitude. James, on the other hand, was silent, his eyes flicking between Allen and Vivian as if he was deep in thought. The gears in his head seemed to be turning as he processed the conversation. Finally, he turned to Allen, his expression serious.

"Just a question, Allen. If Sophia leaves the guild, are you interested in joining our team and guild? I mean, we actually don't have a problem, right? All of this was just a misunderstanding because of Sophia."

Vivian's reaction was immediate. Her voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a knife. "I didn't expect that to come out of your mouth. Or have you forgotten what happened at the model agency? Your sister almost kidnapped Allen."

For a moment, there was silence. James frowned, turning to Vivian with a puzzled look. He seemed to be trying to place her, his mind racing to connect the dots. Then, realization dawned on his face, and his eyes widened.

"Oh, you are that girl. The one who accompanied Allen," James said, his tone now laced with recognition.

Before Vivian could respond, Allen stepped in. "Also, I had problems with Liam and Darren in the past. I don't think I want to be on the same team with them again."

James and Noah exchanged a glance. They couldn't deny the truth in Allen's words. Despite the fact that Liam and Darren had not attacked Allen or looked for trouble with him recently, their past actions had left deep scars. Allen had every right to be wary of rekindling any sort of relationship with them.

James sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He knew that convincing Allen to join their guild would be a Herculean task, given the history between them. Allen had been through too much to simply brush it all aside.

Meanwhile, Noah's face also was lined with regret. He understood the complexity of the situation all too well. Liam and Darren had always had a strange dynamic with Sophia, and it seemed like they were perpetually caught in her web. Noah couldn't see a way for them to disentangle themselves from Sophia's influence, at least not anytime soon.

James' face fell slightly. He glanced over at Liam and Darren, who were standing with their backs turned, avoiding eye contact with Allen. It was clear they felt the weight of their past actions.

"I understand," James said finally, his voice subdued. "But just so you know, things have changed. We've changed. And while I can't speak for Liam and Darren."

Noah nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Allen. We've all had our share of mistakes. But we're trying to move forward, to make things right."

Allen shook his head from side to side. "Still, a no for me," he claimed.

Shea glanced over at Elio's team, her eyes narrowing in thought. Something else seemed off. Apart from Sophia's absence, there was another key player missing. "I think you guys have a mage on your team?" Shea asked, her curiosity piqued.

Noah turned to his team, scanning the group before looking back at Shea. "Oh, you mean Jacob?"

Jane frowned, immediately jumping in. "Who is Jacob?"

James replied with a hint of amusement, "He's INeedAHotGF's player."

Zoe cringed visibly at the mention of the name. "Ah yes, him. The one with a cringe nickname."

James let out an awkward laugh. "Give him a break, he desperately wanted a girlfriend. That's why he used that name."

Allen, steering the conversation back to its critical point, asked, "So where is he?"

Noah took a deep breath, his expression turning somber. "He took Sophia's side."

Alice couldn't hold back her question any longer and frowned. "Why? She's wrong, and it's totally obvious."

James and Noah shrugged almost in unison. Noah elaborated, "Jacob has been a little busy lately taking care of his sick mother. He can't quite keep up with us, though. Still, it looks like the reason he keeps playing this game even with his busy schedule is because of Sophia.

Seems like he had a crush on her from the start, but since she got close to Elio, Jacob decided to stay quiet and not make a move."

James nudged Noah sharply, causing him to grunt and turn towards his friend. James gave him a pointed stare that clearly said, "You talk too much." Noah pressed his lips together, immediately quieting down.

Allen sighed inwardly, the complexity of the situation becoming clearer. Jacob's feelings to Sophia, despite her manipulative nature, were rooted in deeper, more personal feelings.

Shea looked thoughtful. "That makes things more complicated. It's not just about skill or strategy anymore. There are real emotions involved," she frowned.

James nodded, his expression weary. "It always is. It always is," he repeated tiredly.

Larissa, who had been quietly absorbing the information, finally spoke up. "Taking care of a sick parent is no small feat. I feel bad for him. It sounds like Jacob is in a difficult spot. Plus it's tough when personal lives and game lives intersect like this. Especially since he has a crush on the wrong girl."

Bella agreed. "True. It's hard to fault him for wanting some form of escape or love, even if that escape is Sophia. But of all people why her? She's causing so much trouble."

Noah added softly, "We've tried to help him, but he's so wrapped up in his situation. And Sophia... she has this way of making people feel like they need her."

Alice shook her head, her frustration evident. "It's just sad. She's using him, and he doesn't even see it."

James sighed heavily. "Yeah, but what can we do? He's made his choice, at least for now." Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire

The group fell into a contemplative silence. But Jane, ever the enthusiast for drama and stories, looked at them excitedly as if she had stumbled upon an enticing new novel to follow. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity.

"Why are you all silent? Tell me more," Jane urged, leaning in closer. She directed her gaze at Noah and James.
