Chapter 841: Silver Lining
Villain Ch 841. Silver Lining
"So there is a love triangle between them, right? Are they competing for Sophia's attention? Or did this Jacob guy decide to be her secret admirer?" Jane asked them again.
Shea and the others shook their heads, clearly exasperated by Jane's eagerness. Zoe and Vivian even facepalmed, their hands covering their faces in disbelief.
Larissa muttered under her breath, "Here we go again."
James looked slightly uncomfortable, but he tried to answer as best as he could. "Uh… I'm not sure that can be called a secret admirer. I mean, Jacob didn't say it clearly, but it was obvious from his actions. Every time we hunted, he always prioritized killing the monsters around Sophia over the others."
Noah, clearly annoyed, nudged James sharply in the ribs and gave him the same stare he had received earlier. James responded with a helpless shrug, as if to say, "What do you want me to do?"
Jane's excitement only seemed to grow. "That's so interesting! So he's like her protector, always watching over her from the shadows. That's so romantic in a way, even if she doesn't appreciate it."
Larissa rolled her eyes slightly, feeling the conversation veering off course. She respected Jane's enthusiasm, but this wasn't the time for romanticizing the situation. "It's more complicated than that. It means Jacob's actions are driven by his feelings, sure, but they also complicate things for the team. His attachment to Sophia makes it harder for him to see her faults."
Vivian, still facepalming, added, "And it's not healthy. He's putting himself and the team at risk because he can't separate his emotions from his responsibilities."
Shea nodded in agreement. "Exactly. And while it might seem like a romantic gesture, it's actually quite problematic. He's blinded by his feelings, and that's dangerous in a game where teamwork and clear-headedness are crucial."
Zoe, recovering from her facepalm, looked at Jane with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. "You always find the silver lining, don't you?"
Jane grinned unapologetically. "Hey, I'm just trying to see the human side of things. But I get it. It's not ideal for the team."
James, sensing the need to steer the conversation back to a more serious tone, said, "Look, Jacob is a good player, but his priorities are skewed."
Noah nodded, his expression somber. "We've talked to him about it, but it's like talking to a brick wall. He's too wrapped up in his own world to see the bigger picture."
Alice sighed. "It sounds like you guys have a lot to deal with."

Zoe scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "So he was just another simper," she said, dismissing the entire situation with a wave of her hand.
James cringed visibly, his shoulders tensing up. "That's so cruel," he said, unable to hide his discomfort.
Allen spoke again, a deep frown etched on his forehead. "Just curious," he began slowly, "did Sophia respond or react to this Jacob guy?"
A sly smile crept onto James' face as he turned to Allen. "Why are you suddenly curious?" he asked, his eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Allen shrugged, trying to keep his tone casual. "I don't know anything about this guy's background, but I know Sophia is only interested in people who benefit her," he said calmly. "So I guess he ignored this guy before, but he might encourage him to leave your guild if Elio really kicks him."
James and Noah exchanged glances, pressing their lips together in a thin line. Noah sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You surely know her well," he said, his voice tinged with resignation. "Since… yeah, that's what happened. But luckily, Jacob is not the type who likes drama and prefers silence. He mostly just helps Sophia in silence."
Shea's eyes widened a bit as she absorbed this information. "So, he's just a quiet enabler? That's still problematic," she sneered.
James nodded reluctantly. "It is. He's always been there in the background," he stated.
Elio's voice crackled through the crowd, a mix of excitement and determination evident in his tone. "James, Noah, I want to keep hunting. You guys in?" His words were sharp and clear.
Noah glanced over at James, a smirk playing on his lips. "Elio sounds like he's on a mission. What do you think?"
James adjusted the grip on his new bow, the weapon gleaming under the sunlight. "He's always on a mission," he replied with a chuckle.
"Noah, James, you guys coming or what?" Elio's impatience seeped through the comms.
"Yeah, we're coming," Noah responded, shaking his head slightly. "Just saying goodbye to Allen." Then, turning serious, he looked over at Allen, who was standing a few paces away.
Allen looked up, his eyes meeting theirs. James stepped forward. "Hey, Allen. Don't forget to check in with Mila once in a while, alright? She might be a bit naïve, but she's a good person. I think she's got a bit of a crush on you, too."
Allen looked calm, and then he laughed. "Mila? Really?" He knew she was naïve but good or not, he knew Noah and James were the ones who pulled the string behind her.
James nodded, a teasing smile on his lips. "Yeah. For sure she's your fan. Just be nice to her," he reminded him.
Noah clapped Allen on the shoulder, his grip firm. "We'll see you around, Allen. Don't be a stranger," he said in a warm tone.
Before Allen could respond, they turned and began to walk away. They just took a few steps, and Allen's voice reached them, clear and calm. "I'll talk to you guys in the real world soon. You can bring Mila with you," he stated. He remembered James and Noah were on his guest list.
Noah and James stopped in their tracks, exchanging puzzled glances. Noah raised an eyebrow. "Did he just say…?"
"Yeah, I think he did," James replied, frowning slightly.
They turned around, intending to ask Allen what he meant, but he was already walking away, his team falling in step behind him.
