Chapter 258 It was my fault
"Release the hunting dogs!" the captain of the first squadron roared violently. He moved his right hand forward. Standing with a military posture, his presence exerted pressure over the military field.
In front of him stood a group of 50 young people, including both men and women. "I don't really like being called a dog," a young man with fixed black hair said while furrowing his brow, a slight laugh echoing in his ears. He rolled his eyes at the girl to his left. "If you don't like being called a dog, imagine how I feel. Bitch? Seriously?
Quit whining. Besides, you chose to enter this faculty," the brown-haired girl said.
"Could you two shut up for a moment? I don't want us to be punished again because of your bickering," an annoyed murmur interrupted their conversation.
The two looked at the young man who was slightly shorter than them. "Lirio, how about you shut up a bit better?" the boy said with a mocking expression. Lirio's eyes glinted, "Shut up, you damn bastard, you're only 10 centimeters taller than me!" Lirio shouted in frustration.

"You two, to the punishment room!" the captain of the first squadron shouted furiously. "But I didn't do anything!" another frustrated female voice emerged, while she stomped on the ground. "Right now!" the captain shouted again.
The group of four recruits walked towards the room. "You," the blue-haired girl looked resentfully at the other three. "Calm down, Lisa, we're already used to it," the black-haired boy said, furrowing his brow at the brown-haired girl, who completely ignored his gaze. "Why don't you control your girlfriend, Matias!" Lisa yelled.
Rose's expression changed, she became a bit shy when named Joaquín's girlfriend. She glanced out of the corner of her eye at Matias, seeing his twisted smile and accepting the fact of being his girlfriend, a happy expression crossing her face.
"Darn it, I can't believe it, punished again because of you two," the short boy murmured, clenching his teeth. "Don't get too upset, Lirio, after all, the punishment isn't that bad," said Matias, lowering his head a bit embarrassed. Lirio looked at him with a stunned expression. "You're saying exploring one-fourth of a zone isn't that bad?" he said, clenching his fists in anger.
The four argued along the way to the punishment room. They entered through a large door, in which a man was sitting, asleep, while his snores filled the entire room. The four boys rolled their eyes. Lisa glared at him. Approaching, the man hit her in the stomach, opening his eyes in surprise and then coughing a bit. He looked confusedly at the girl and the others behind her.
A mocking smile appeared on his lips. "This is a new record, you've only been in the hunting body for almost three months, and you've already surpassed punishment number 10," he said as he stood up.
"It's your fault, you two lovebirds!" Lirio pointed his finger at Matias and Rose, who looked away. Lirio felt the urge to kick their butts, he took a deep breath trying to control his agitated feelings. With disdain, he turned his gaze back to the punishment instructor. He put on a playful smile and coughed a bit.
"Alright, as usual, first, you'll have to do 200 push-ups and run for a whole day." His expression was serious, although he appreciated these kids, as they were the ones he spent the most time with, he couldn't fail his tasks as an instructor.
The expression of the four froze, and they became somber. Lirio and Lisa glared murderously at Matias and Rose, gritting their teeth, and started their punishment routine.

"I heard that there has been a lot of movement by the cults in zones 6 and 7," Lirio said as he drank water from a bottle frantically; sweat ran down his forehead and chest. Lisa looked at him in disgust as she subtly distanced herself. Matias' tired eyes came to life and shone fiercely. He clenched his fists tightly, and his eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Matias..." Rose said softly as she placed her hands over his, looking at him concerned. He sighed and tried to calm his heart; his eyes wandered as he looked into the darkness of the night. "I'm okay now, Rose, thank you," he said wearily. Rose nodded with a sweet smile. "According to what the instructor informed us, they belong to the cults of the 7 deadly sins," Lisa said with a serious expression.
Silence lingered among the four people; each had their own thoughts about the cults, especially Matias.
A memory appeared in his mind; he was small. His parents were adventurers, and one day they took him with them to zone 2. He insisted on going; it was his birthday. His father told him he could ask for whatever he wanted. Little Matias wanted to go with them; he wanted to see his parents bravely fighting against the creatures. In fact, in his innocent mind, he wanted to do it too.
His parents hesitated, but finally agreed. It was an exciting trip, a lot of fun. Although he was very scared at first, his mother always hugged him while his father protected them.
Matias's body trembled violently; he closed his eyes tightly as cold sweat ran through his body. He saw it, he saw everything: how those crazy bastards killed his parents while they tried to defend him. He was hidden; they couldn't see him. He watched in horror as his parents' agonizing bodies were brutally massacred while they laughed and enjoyed themselves, as if it were a party.
His mother's head rolled on the floor, and he saw it, his mother's dead, lifeless eyes staring directly at him as if blaming him for what happened to them.
Matias put his hands to his head as he murmured, "It was my fault, it was my fault." It was his fault, his parents died because of him. If he hadn't gone, they would have had the chance to escape. It was all his fault, for wanting to go with them, for insisting. The death of his parents weighed on his shoulders. His body trembled even more as he continued to murmur, as his mind sank into darkness.
"Matias!" Rose shouted, seeing that he wasn't responding to her calls. Lirio and Lisa approached Matias as they tried to help him.
