Chapter 259 Basic Rank Explorers
"Matias, did you rest well?" Rose asked the next morning. She looked at Matias with worried eyes, who had dark circles under his eyes and a tired and fatigued expression; clearly, showing signs of not having slept well last night. Matias' black and tired eyes smiled weakly at Rose. He approached and hugged her gently. "I'm tired, but my mind is already in perfect shape," he said as he leaned on Rose.
She returned the hug, feeling his sadness, closed her eyes, and nestled into his arms.
"Hey, you two!" A mocking voice sounded behind them. Matias and Rose quickly separated, their faces a little red. Lirio looked at them with a smile on his face, feeling satisfied with teasing the two of them. It was his revenge for yesterday, mocking their height, and also for being punished because of them. Matias glanced at him furtively and coughed a bit embarrassedly.
"You have a lot of energy, that's good," Lisa said as she approached with a sweet smile. She walked up to them and crossed her arms. "That's good! After all, today we have to explore zone 2!" she said with a mocking expression as she looked at the three of them.
The three of them rolled their eyes. "You'll never change, Lisa," said Lirio. She glared at him, and he shrunk, hiding behind Rose. After some more chat, the four of them went to the squadron's dining room.
The sun was just rising over the horizon, its warm light illuminating the entire military field. In a large hall were rectangular tables with chairs around them, and they were all seated, having breakfast. The four headed to a section, picked up a tray, and went to collect their food.
"I think the best thing about this place is the amount of meat they can give you," Lisa said with bright eyes. She put a large amount of meat into her mouth, and her cheeks puffed out as she nodded in satisfaction. Matias looked at his plate, mostly filled with meat, almost occupying the entire plate, with a small portion of rice, scrambled eggs, and a salad.
In addition to that, they had a large glass of milk and one with water. "Can you eat more slowly, Lisa?" Lirio said, furrowing his brow. Every morning she did the same; the people around, initially surprised at how a girl could eat so much, were now accustomed to it. Lisa looked at her plate sadly; all the meat was gone.
Hearing Lirio's comment, Lisa quickly looked at the large portion of meat still on her plate. She looked at him sweetly. "Little Lirio, can you give me some meat?" she said with teary eyes. Lirio looked at her indifferently, but still gave Lisa some. She happily gave him a big pat on the back.

"Alright, boys, you know how this works, right?" said the instructor with a serious expression. The four of them looked at him and nodded. "Yes, sir," they said as they saluted. The instructor, Amael, nodded, pleased with their seriousness. He took some crystals out of his pocket. "As hunting dogs," his expression became rigid as he pronounced their nickname best known by the empire.
He internally shook his head. "As you are recruits, you need to know the entire zone. In these months, you've been taught the basics: how to track, find, chase, and execute," he handed each of them a crystal.
"You need to know where you are, you need to know how to orient yourselves, and you need to see everything that happens around you: every falling leaf, the sense of the wind, the sound of everything that can interrupt the silence. As explorers, you need to know all of that. First things first, but without a doubt, the most important: running. If your life is in danger, do not hesitate to run.
Your life is more important than anything!" Amael roared as his eyes gleamed. "As long as you're alive, you can report your findings. As long as you breathe, you can learn. Running does not make you a coward. Remember, you're risking your life out there. The empire doesn't need cold bodies, it needs smart people who can make decisions for themselves in critical moments. If you manage to learn that, you'll survive in higher-level zones." He smiled at the end as he looked at the four.
"Count on it, Instructor!" the four shouted in unison as they saluted. The person in front of them was no ordinary person. Within the cult hunters' faculty, there were a total of 10 squadrons. Each of the squadrons had an instructor, a total of 10. They were the elite of the explorer elite. Each of them had a great reputation within the faculty and in the empire.
The ten had made great contributions in exploring zone 7. The person in front of them was one of them: Amael Cicron, with the Maximum-Diamond rank, belonged to the "Advanced Elite Exploration Squadron".
Within the Cult Hunters Faculty, there is a ranking for these groups. All recruits start in the Novice Exploration Squadron, where they are taught the most basic things that all recruits have to know. Then, there are the Trainee Explorers, specializing in small chases and tracking, among other things.
After that, there are the Basic Rank Explorers, where all recruits have to start exploring lower-level zones, from zone 1 to 2. Next is the Advanced Exploration Squadron, where people at this level have to explore intermediate zones, from zone 3 to 5. Then, there are the Master Expeditioners; this level of normal explorers focuses exclusively on zone 6.
Finally, there are the Advanced Elite Exploration Masters; this is the highest level a hunter can have for now and focuses on zone 7.
Matias, Rose, Lirio, and Lisa were at the Basic Rank Explorers level. Amael was very satisfied with this group overall, as he saw great potential in them. The reason was very simple: he raised them from childhood. All the children in front of him were orphans. Their parents were victims of the cultists. From a young age, Amael taught them the basics.
For this reason, the five of them had this kind of trusting relationship. Lirio rolled his eyes and looked closely at Amael. "When are you going to get a wife?" he said. Amael's expression froze and turned somber. He looked ahead and the four kids had disappeared.
