Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Reunion
"Really? Get closer to that transport ship!"
Marcus stepped out onto the deck as he gave the order.
The Sentinel robots had responded with backup so quickly—proof of just how numerous they were.
This, however, was good news for Marcus. By destroying large numbers of Sentinels, he could harvest their energy reactors and extract more Aya Stars.
As Marcus walked out onto the deck, the freed prisoners behind him grabbed whatever weapons they could find.
They weren't sure if Marcus could handle all the incoming Sentinels, so they prepared themselves for battle. If Sentinels broke through, they were determined to take at least one robot down with them, even if it meant their deaths.
Marcus noticed their readiness but remained unfazed.
These people simply didn't want to be captured again. They were clearly prepared to fight the Sentinels to the bitter end.
"Vigilance is good, but aren't you underestimating me a bit?"
Marcus held an energy sword in one hand and a frisbee-like war blade in the other.
Watching the approaching transport ship, he channeled more energy into both weapons. He wondered how many Sentinels would come this time.
Just as he finished speaking, the transport ship dropped several black objects like a bomber releasing its payload.
"Here they come!"
Those black objects were Sentinel robots. The moment they were released, they rapidly transformed and flew toward the ship at high speed.
"Lost Skill: Deny!"
The fragments on Xaku's [Void Reverberation] arm floated upward, void energy surging through them, transforming into beams that shot toward the flying Sentinels.
The Sentinels launched counter-attacks, firing energy pulses to intercept the void rays, aiming to neutralize Marcus.
But their beams were ineffective. The void rays pierced straight through the energy pulses, continuing toward the Sentinels while simultaneously absorbing the intercepting energy.
BOOM!!!
One Sentinel exploded spectacularly, the blast sending nearby robots tumbling through the air.
"Void Grip!"
A void rift opened, and countless void tendrils stretched out, condensing into void orbs floating around Marcus.
Whoosh~ whoosh~ whoosh~
The void orbs released rays in all directions, pelting the Sentinels.
Though each individual void ray wasn't as powerful as a focused void beam, Marcus had generated numerous orbs surrounding him.
These orbs continuously fired void rays, systematically destroying the Sentinels' limbs.
Suddenly, the war blade flew from Marcus's hand, spinning rapidly and carving a beautiful blue arc through the air as it sliced through Sentinel after Sentinel.
Marcus himself leaped upward, his energy sword blazing with light as he slashed several arcs of energy through the air.
As the sword energy pierced through the Sentinels' bodies, they instantly disintegrated, raining metal fragments down from the sky.
After dispatching this wave, Marcus didn't pause—the transport ship was deploying even more Sentinels.
He raised his hand toward the incoming robots. A void rift opened beside them.
"Lost Skill: Accuse!"
Several Sentinels were instantly enveloped in void energy. A moment later, these robots turned against their comrades. The scales on their bodies flipped rapidly as flames engulfed them.
WHOOSH!!!
Their heads slowly opened, the raging fire gathering intensely within before shooting out as columns of flame toward the other Sentinels.
This sudden betrayal caused momentary confusion among the remaining Sentinels before they entered combat against their former allies.
Facing the incoming fire columns, the scales on the loyal Sentinels flipped in unison, emitting freezing energy that crystallized the moisture in the air to counter-attack.
The opposing forces collided violently, sending shockwaves through the air.
While the two factions of Sentinels battled, Marcus made his move.
His war blade bounced back and forth between targets, guided by his control right into the densest cluster of robots.
BOOM!!!
As the war blade's energy detonated, dozens of Sentinels were thrown back by the explosive force, the void energy suppressing all their mutant abilities.
Marcus fired beams from his fingertips at the stunned Sentinels while the void orbs continued their assault, destroying robot after robot.
One by one, the Sentinels were demolished, falling from the sky like puppets with cut strings, crashing to the ground below.
"Victory!!! Mr. Skeleton won!!!!"
The people on the transport ship erupted in cheers. They had witnessed the incredible power Marcus commanded.
The finger beams, the void rays, all had devastating effects on the Sentinels. Though they didn't understand why the robots couldn't transform and adapt as they usually did when attacked, they had seen their mechanical oppressors destroyed without even touching Marcus.
Perhaps with this skeletal ally, they could truly resist the Sentinels and reclaim their former lives of freedom.
While they celebrated and dreamed of the future, Marcus moved to his next objective. Instead of collecting the Sentinel wreckage on the ground, he rushed toward the enemy transport ship.
One transport was enough for transportation—he needed the power core from this second ship.
Just as he boarded the vessel, lightning flashed in the sky. A plane emerged from the dark clouds, flying straight toward them.
"Is this... someone coming to rescue the Sentinels?"
The plane approached with impressive speed, clearly carrying someone of significance. Marcus didn't attack immediately, choosing instead to wait and observe. He wanted to see who was aboard.
Soon the plane landed smoothly, and several figures emerged.
A young woman with white hair, an elderly man with white hair wearing a cloak, and a rugged man with a cigar clenched between his teeth.
"Logan?" Seeing the familiar face, Marcus was momentarily stunned. "And that means the white-haired old man is Erik? Ha! I didn't expect he'd look so distinguished in his old age."
Though he knew this was the X-Men's future timeline, he hadn't dared hope to find Charles and the others. Yet here was his old friend from the past, right before him.
Swish~
The cabin of the transport ship suddenly opened, and a tall dark figure appeared. Marcus, however, was too delighted at seeing his old friend to let any interruption spoil the moment.
He raised his hand and swung his blade. Before the Sentinel could move, Marcus sliced through it and tore out its energy reactor.
"Hey~ Long time no see, everyone!"
