Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Skyfire

Chains of fire appeared in the sky, confirming to everyone that someone was attacking the Sentinels.

Though they couldn't see the attacker clearly, they witnessed the sky filled with fiery chains and countless Sentinels exploding under their assault.

"Is this... another of Mr. Skeleton's attacks?"

Someone murmured, stunned by the continuous explosions overhead. The sky erupted with blasts as Sentinels were blown to pieces.

The bright beacons floating in the air continued to emit flames, drawing more Sentinels toward them like moths to a flame, burning them as they approached.

A strange and beautiful fireworks display unfolded above—explosions of various colors, thunder rolling across the heavens, countless butterflies, and pillars of ice and fire.

The combined spectacle was mesmerizing, leaving many observers in awe.

The Sentinels discovered the anomaly. Under commands from their central network, they retreated from the bright beacons and directed their attacks toward them.

All the flame rays that had previously targeted Marcus now converged on the Sentinels that had been transformed into beacons, attempting to destroy them.

However, these beacons remained unharmed despite the onslaught. No matter how powerful the attacks, they simply absorbed them without effect.

After this futile assault, the Sentinels' central network seemed to falter. According to its calculations, such an attack should have destroyed the beacons completely.

But the reality before it defied logic—none of the beacons had been destroyed. Instead, many of the Sentinels drawn to them had been damaged in the crossfire.

The central network began recalculating, using the processing power of all Sentinel cores to analyze the effect of the illusion.

But in the next moment, all the illusions seemed to destabilize. The Sentinels that had transformed into beacons began to expand before exploding violently.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Each explosion released terrifying flames, covering vast areas of the sky and instantly melting any nearby Sentinels.

The liquefied robots fell from the sky like rain of fire, transforming the surrounding area into an inferno.

"Bobby!!!"

Storm shouted as a massive cyclone formed around her. The falling molten metal was caught by the windstorm, burning wildly within it, creating a firestorm.

This firestorm didn't burn for long. Iceman's hands released countless ice crystals that enveloped the storm.

Soon, an ice sculpture resembling a frozen cyclone appeared. Within the ice, countless black objects—the remains of melted Sentinels—were suspended.

With the rain of fire contained, Storm and the others could clearly see what was happening above.

Most of the Sentinels that had filled the sky had been consumed by the flame explosions. Their overwhelming numbers had been significantly reduced.

"If we can just maintain this momentum, we might actually succeed."

Storm sighed with relief. She hadn't expected Marcus to be so powerful. While they had managed to delay some Sentinels, it was Marcus who truly held the line against the robot army.

He had become like a mobile weapon platform, penetrating deep into the Sentinel ranks and slaughtering these terrible machines.

However, the two attacks they'd witnessed were merely the opening salvo. More Sentinels were approaching, and they needed to prepare for the next wave.

The freed prisoners understood this well. They divided into three teams: one continued reinforcing the temple, another crafted simple weapons, and the third searched for energy reactors among the debris.

These reactors were valuable not only to Marcus but to them as well.

Some prisoners combined energy reactors with salvaged Sentinel parts to create special weapons, compensating for their limited attack range.

Everyone worked diligently, trying to recover or strengthen their defenses before the next Sentinel assault.

Marcus remained unaware of their preparations. He was busy slicing through the remaining Sentinels with his fairy sword.

In his miniaturized form, his movement speed had increased dramatically, and his attack power hadn't diminished. Between the DEX fairy gun and his fairy sword, he wielded tremendous destructive capability. Combined with his flying butterflies, the Sentinels were like headless flies, attacking randomly and ineffectively.

A white flash cut through the air, and a Sentinel's body split in two, breaking apart mid-flight before crashing to the ground.

"Quick, another one down!"

Resource-gathering prisoners rushed forward. After destroying the chip in the Sentinel's head, they extracted the energy core.

They tossed the robot's remains into a large basket before hurrying to the next fallen Sentinel.

The machines wouldn't give them much time. Even as they collected Sentinel remains and energy reactors, more transport ships approached their position.

Though an increasing number of vessels darkened the sky, no one felt hopeless this time.

Marcus's battle had given them courage. They were no longer afraid. Though the Sentinels were powerful, victory seemed possible—they might actually survive this onslaught.

"I didn't expect these Sentinels to gather so quickly. But this should be the last wave for a while, right?"

The previous two attacks had been launched by the nearest transport ships. This wave appeared to be the largest, likely gathering all Sentinels from the surrounding area.

If they could eliminate this final wave, they might enjoy a brief respite.

A fleet of transport ships approached, disgorging countless Sentinels that once again filled the sky.

But instead of attacking immediately, the robots surrounded their transport ships.

"What are they waiting for?"

Many observers found this strange. Why weren't the Sentinels attacking immediately as before?

They soon understood the machines' intentions.

All the Sentinels opened their heads, continuously accumulating energy. Small flames dotted the sky like stars, and the dark clouds seemed to glow with their heat.

"They're not planning to attack—they're going to obliterate this entire area!!!"

Seeing the Sentinels' actions, people realized the robots intended to burn everything to the ground.

"Blink, open portals! Everyone get behind Blink!!!"

Storm shouted desperately. This level of attack was beyond their ability to resist.

Such an overwhelming assault could only be countered using Blink's portals to redirect it.
