Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Rift Guardian

Swish~

Flame beams shot out from the Sentinel army, converging on the temple below.

Even with Blink's portals redirecting the attacks, her power wouldn't be enough against such an overwhelming assault. Their goal was to protect the temple long enough for Kitty and the others to complete their plan to alter the timeline.

"Get... bigger!!!"

Blink strained desperately, pushing her powers to expand the portals.

But the Sentinels' attack covered too vast an area—no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't protect everyone.

Marcus, flying overhead, immediately recognized the problem.

Despite Blink's valiant efforts, her power simply wasn't enough to counter all the incoming flame beams.

"Planning to destroy this place? Did you ask my permission first?"

Marcus reverted to his normal form in a burst of energy, then transformed into Limbo [Soul Book Prison], now dressed in an elegant tuxedo and top hat. As he descended from the sky, he channeled a massive amount of void energy between his hands.

"Cataclysm!"

BOOM!

A huge energy sphere surrounded by unstable forces exploded outward from the temple, enveloping both the structure and everyone near it, including Storm.

Everyone felt as though they had stepped into another dimension. The world around them seemed fundamentally changed.

Before they could process what had happened, the Sentinels' flame beams fell upon them and the temple.

To their astonishment, the beams passed straight through their bodies without causing any harm. They couldn't even feel the heat from the flames. It was like watching a movie, experiencing the attack as if it were happening on a screen rather than in reality.

Thud~

A black shadow landed before them—a strange armor that resembled an elegant gentleman, its entire form shimmering with faint energy.

"Is that... Mr. Skeleton?"

Though they'd never seen Marcus in this form before, the freed prisoners could sense that this mysterious figure was indeed the same being who had rescued them.

The domain formed by Cataclysm existed in the rift plane—a dimension parallel to the material world.

Unless the Sentinels mastered void powers, they could never penetrate between planes to attack anything in the rift dimension.

After confirming no one was injured inside the rift space, Blink closed her portals at Storm's signal, allowing the Sentinels' flame beams to pass harmlessly through.

"What kind of power is this?"

Storm was utterly bewildered. Marcus had now displayed a third completely different ability.

His first transformation had turned him into a mobile weapon platform that not only suppressed the Sentinels' abilities but caused many to rebel against their own kind.

His second form had ensorcelled the robots, making them move like pilgrims toward beacon-like Sentinels before burning them in massive numbers.

And now they witnessed a third distinct power—an energy sphere that transported them beyond harm's reach, allowing them to ignore the deadly flame beams entirely.

She couldn't comprehend how Marcus could possess so many different abilities.

Watching him closely, Storm noticed energy surging around Marcus's hands.

"Stasis!"

"Rift Surge!"

Limbo's twin abilities activated simultaneously, yet nothing in their surroundings seemed to change, confusing Storm further.

When Marcus had transformed into the skeletal form earlier, each ability he used created visible effects. But what was happening now? Why did nothing appear to change?

Before she could ask, Marcus suddenly leaped out of the rift space, his body transforming into pure energy as he soared.

In an instant, he materialized before the Sentinel army. With a raised hand, he released a burst of rift energy. The robots directly in front of him were pushed into the rift plane by his "Banish" ability, and the moment they entered, they froze in place—unable to move, like sculptures.

This was the effect of Stasis, which could freeze targets in the rift plane until they were destroyed.

Marcus followed the Sentinels into the rift plane, but unlike them, he remained unaffected. He used the frozen robots as stepping stones as he moved to attack.

Though Limbo could travel through time and space, its direct combat capabilities were limited.

After freezing these Sentinels, Marcus transformed into Xaku again the moment he fully entered the rift plane.

This time, rather than using Void Grip to create void orbs, he directly employed his "Lost Skill: Denial."

Void beams shot from his hands, instantly piercing through numerous Sentinels.

With a sweeping gesture, the void beams followed his movements. In a cascade of explosions, the frozen Sentinels detonated one after another.

As each robot exploded, waves of rift energy spread outward from their remains.

Sentinels still surrounding him in the material plane were dragged into the rift plane by this expanding energy, instantly becoming frozen sculptures themselves.

This was the effect of Rift Surge, which dramatically increased Marcus's killing efficiency. The void beams swept across the sky with his movements, filling the air with countless explosions.

Meanwhile, the Sentinels' central network detected only that large groups of robots were disconnecting from the system.

Through data received from surviving units, it couldn't identify anything abnormal. It knew only that numerous Sentinels were being destroyed by a strange mutant, and that the previous attack on the temple had somehow failed. The central network hesitated, uncertain how to proceed.

The remaining Sentinels paused momentarily before taking action again.

The central network couldn't determine how to counter Marcus, but it could identify where the greatest concentration of mutants was located. Rather than continuing to engage this unusual opponent, it decided to eliminate the other mutants first.

The Sentinels divided into two groups—one continued attacking Marcus while the other rushed toward the rift space.

Seeing Sentinels approaching their sanctuary, the people inside the rift sphere grew anxious. They could tell that once the robots entered this domain, they would be vulnerable to attack.

Everyone prepared their defenses, awaiting the robots' arrival.

The moment the first Sentinels broke into the rift space, everyone launched their attacks—energy blasts, strange weapons, and various powers converged on the intruders.

After fighting for several moments, they realized something strange—the Sentinels weren't attacking back.

Looking more carefully, they saw that each robot that entered was immediately wrapped in energy flames and frozen in place, unable to move.

Before their eyes, the immobilized Sentinels began to crumble apart. And then something even more astonishing happened...
