Warhammer: Saiyan Adopted by the Wolf King

Chapter 88: Chapter 86: Introverted Emperor

Even though he was separated by thousands of light-years, Kasha could still sense her father's fury.

She opened her eyes, nodded at Axis, and the faint curve at the corner of her mouth showed that things were going just as Axis expected.

Seeing this, Axis gave Kasha a thumbs-up, but he was restrained in his gesture.

"I clearly warned him not to probe into the secrets of the Warp! Why didn't he listen? Tell me everything that happened, in detail," the Emperor demanded.

"Father, I went to visit Prospero with Russ and Axis.

"Magnus welcomed us with great enthusiasm.

"But his sons had run into some problems. I think you're already aware of it," Kasha continued.

"I am! I know what's going on in his legion, and I've been working on solutions myself," the Emperor replied.

Since the primarchs were all beings born with connection to the Warp, even as lesser gods within it, the Primarchs' connection to the Warp could not be erased.

In fact, from the very day he recovered the Primarchs, the Emperor knew that some of them will betray him.

It was an unavoidable problem.

Ever since he began creating the Primarchs, ever since he outwitted those four in the Warp, this was destined to happen.

Due to their origins, all of the Primarchs' gene-seed carried issues to some degree.

The Emperor planned to resolve these problems gradually, alongside the Great Crusade.

"Axis's ki had excellent resistance to the Warp, even more than we had actually thought. So he used it to help Magnus purtify his gene-seed.

"After the purification was complete, the secondary heart cultivated was perfect, resembling an original human heart without the weird rough surface," Kasha reported.

"I know. That's how the gene-seed cultivated organ should look like before any corruption from the Warp. Tell me what happened next, especially about that blue-feathered, bird-headed creature," the Emperor said.

It seemed Axis's Ki had evolved further after his modification. As a child, his Ki didn't have that kind of purifying effect on warp taint.

The emperor hadn't had the time or presence of mind to personally oversee Axis after his transformation, and he was sent to deal with the second primarch immediately after his awakening.

It was an oversight on his part, one the emperor now regretted.

He should've had Malcador examine every application of Axis' Ki even if that meant reducing his training time.

This energy had remarkable purifying properties against Warp-taint.

If they could restore the gene-seed to its perfect state, then theoretically, the risk of Warp corruption could be avoided.

"After Axis purified the gene-seed with his ki, the success rate of surgeries on new recruits shot up!

"Magnus was overjoyed, and even invited Axis to join his legion for a while, to help him fix the gene-seed problem.

"Russ and Axis agreed to stay for a month and a half, to help evolve a batch of perfect gene-seed for the legion.

"But there were some hiccups. Magnus proposed a project named Librarius, one to create a group of Astartes in every Space Marine legion with psychic abilities.

"Axis supported the idea.

"But Russ took on offense, and the two got into a heated argument. In the end, Magnus let something slip.

"He revealed that a blue-feathered, bird-headed Warp entity kept appearing in his dreams, and that he had once promised to fix his gene-seed problem, on the condition that Magnus gave up one of his eyes.

"He never agreed and even asked me to report this incident to you, Father."

Kasha explained.

The Emperor remained silent for a moment.

"Well done! This is something that must be reported to me immediately," the Emperor said, after a moment, nodding with approval.

He understood Magnus' reservations to not reveal it to him himself.

It seems he needed to keep a better eye on things.

He had forbidden the Primarchs from exploring the Warp precisely because he feared they'd attract the attention of the Chaos Gods, and now it had already happened!

If he'd remained in the dark, the consequences would've been unthinkable.

Those four creatures were fond of scheming, especially the blue bird-man.

Fortunately, Kasha had reported to him in time.

Otherwise, things could have spiraled out of control.

"Tell Magnus to contact me right after this.

"I'll help him resist the influence of that Warp entity. And warn him, under no circumstances should he trust a word from those Warp abominations. Whatever they say, treat it as utter nonsense," the Emperor ordered.

"Yes, Father! I'll pass your message to Magnus," Kasha answered.

"Good! There's no danger since we caught it early. Find some time for Axis to give Magnus a Ki baptism as well," the Emperor said.

If Axis's ki could restore corrupted gene-seed, then exposure to it should also help Magnus resist the Chaos Gods' interference.

"I understand, Father."

"Is there anything else to report, Kasha? If not, I need to contact Magnus," the Emperor asked.

"There is one more thing, Father. Russ already knows about all this, including the blue bird-man. He's begun to question the Warp as well.

"Russ even said that every time he travels through the Warp, he senses a strange, sinister calling, attracting him to the depth of the warp," Kasha reported.

There was a long silence on the Emperor's end.

After about ten minutes, he reinitiated the psychic call.

"Have you completed my task, and let Axis know the true horrors of Warp entities?" The Emperor didn't mention Russ, but focused on Axis instead.

He hadn't expected Russ to sense the Warp's call.

What about the other Primarchs?

"Father, I've done as you instructed.

"I've already done my best to tell Axis about the terrors of the Warp, about the four evil daemons within it. And last time we traveled through the Warp, we were even attacked by Chaos daemons.

"Axis and I teamed up to destroy both Khorne's and Slaanesh's daemons," Kasha reported.

"If Russ already knows, and you've briefed Axis, then you may reveal some information about the Warp to Russ as appropriate.

"And tell him, no matter what, never trust anything that comes out of the mouth of a Warp entity. They are all evil, without exception," the Emperor instructed.

Truthfully, he was at his wits' end at this moment.

He hadn't expected Chaos Gods to act so swiftly!

By his estimation, he should've had centuries more before the primarch's growth was complete and they warranted the attention of chaos.

"Yes, Father! I'll relay your command to Russ and the others."

"Good. Be careful these days.

"I'm returning to Holy Terra to meet with the Second Primarch and handle the rebuilding of the Second Legion," the Emperor said, ready to end the psychic call.

"Father! Axis and I have a suspicion… but I'm not sure if I should mention it," Kasha suddenly said.

"What suspicion?"

"Magnus and Russ can both sense some inexplicable calling from the Warp, so doesn't that mean the other Primarchs might feel it too? Maybe they're all hiding it from you," Kasha said nervously.

On the other end, the Emperor once again fell into a heavy silence.

He had considered this situation himself, and If this was true, it was definitely no good omen.

The Warp-borne nature of the Primarchs was truly a problem that could not be avoided.

"Father, you should ask the other Primarchs if they have the same sensation. If they do, it would be better to deal with it as soon as possible, rather than leave it alone.

"At the very least, you should tell them something, so they're not left in the dark.

"Axis said, only by understanding your enemy, by knowing just how terrifying your enemy is, can you respond and defend yourself.

"If you only forbid them from learning, it might actually backfire. It'll just make the Primarchs more curious about the truth," Kasha spoke up.

The Emperor was silent once more.

"Actually, Malcador has mentioned this to me as well.

"But…things with the Primarchs aren't as easy to explain. There are things you just don't understand, and even I don't know how to put them into words."

"Father, I know you want to protect us, to protect humanity from the Warp's corruption. But for now, there's just no way for humanity to avoid the Warp.

"Maybe you should let the Primarchs in on some of the truth. Maybe even let some of the higher-ups in the Imperium know.

"It's enough for the ordinary citizens to cling to the Imperial Truth, but keeping the backbone of Humanity in the dark will only leave them vulnerable to manipulation from the warp" Kasha said bravely.

Not one knew the kind of courage she was mustering at the moment to keep her expression neutral.

Axis had told her that only when the Primarchs understood how terrifying the Warp truly was could they truly defend against it, and she agreed with with it.

If the Primarchs discovered this themselves, their attitude towards the Emperor would surely change.

There was a reason, after all, why half of the Primarchs would one day turn traitor.

Three feet of ice doesn't form in a single day.

"I'll consider it," the Emperor replied simply, then cut off the psychic connection.

Kasha let out a breath she'd been holding for a some time. Axis tought she might just start hyperventilating, Holding her hand and rubbing her back.

He could only imagine how nerve wracking it would've been for her.

"How did it go?" Axis asked, still holding her hand.

"I've relayed your words to Father.

"He's agreed to let me tell Magnus and Russ about the Warp. But Father didn't answer me on the later suggestion, he said he'd consider it," Kasha said.

"It's fine. Some things just take time.

"I think I've figured out your old man's personality by now. He's actually a pretty introverted guy," Axis replied.

The Emperor's personality was even described in official books as silent, even somewhat introverted. Maybe not in the human sense, but from the fact that, the Emperor's perspective was that of a god among humans, who have lived for who knows how many millennia.

If not for Malcador's encouragement, he would never have taken charge as the Lord of Humans in the first place.

The Emperor was often depicted as reserved, aloof, and rarely showing emotion.

He rarely confided with even in his closest allies, not even to his sons and his thoughts were often described as hidden or inscrutable.

Sometimes, it was to the poin even the Primarchs couldn't see that the Emperor was trying to protect them.

Once misunderstandings arise, they were impossible to clear up.

That's why Axis was planning to set a little trap for the Emperor.

"So what do we do now, Axis?" Kasha asked.

"First, let's tell Russ and Magic Pony—cough, I mean Magnus—a few things about the Warp," Axis said, coughing awkwardly.

He'd accidentally blurted out Magnus's nickname.

Pfft!

"Hahaha! Is that the nickname you gave him—Magic Pony?" Kasha burst out laughing, the earlier tension leaving her body.

"I like it that we share the same sense of humor, but, we've got some good news to share at the moment."

Kasha nodded, held her laughter and the two of them immediately headed to the room next door.

As soon as they entered russes quarters, Magnus called out, and Axis was left coughing.

"Oh, the monkey-boy's back!" Magnus said loud enough, waving at Axis the moment they entered Russ's room.

Just how powerful was Magnus's psychic ability?

There was nothing on the entire planet that he couldn't hear, barring Kasha's secret chat with the Emperor, everything Axis said next door had reached his ears.

Evidently, he didn't like his nickname.

"Cough, cough! It was just a joke, don't take it seriously. Let's get down to business." Axis quickly shifterthe subject.

"The Emperor has agreed to let Kasha tell you both about the Warp, and after this, he wants to speak to Magnus alone.

"After that, the Emperor will shield you with his psychic power, so that blue-feathered bird-man won't bother you anymore," Axis explained.

Kasha took a deep breath and stood before the two Primarchs, ready to explain what she knew of the Warp, including the existence of the four Chaos Gods.

They ruled over fear and blood, war, life, disease, cunning and change, pleasure, ecstasy and beauty.

She explained the hierarchy of daemonic entities, especially the Greater Daemons: Bloodthirsters, Keepers of Secrets, Great Unclean Ones, and Lords of Change.

She also explained that in the material universe, there were mortals who had fallen to Chaos, Chaos Lords, Chaos Champions, Chosen of the Gods, even Daemon Princes.

She emphasized the threat of Warp corruption, and how Geller Fields were an important protective measure.

Above all, she warned: never trust a word from any Chaos entity.

"So That blue bird-man magnus mentioned is really a Chaos God? or maybe a Greater Daemon serving him?" Russ asked in surprise.

"That's right! Father will use his psychic power to protect you. But you should also build a big Geller Field in your own quarters as extra protection," Kasha said.

"I understand," Magnus nodded.

Russ, meanwhile, fell silent.

There really were gods in this universe.

And not just gods, but four extremely evil beings, born from the negative emotions of all life in the material universe.

If that was true, then the Emperor's Imperial Truth was almost laughable, wasn't it?

But he also understood the Emperor's motives.

If he hadn't made up the Imperial Truth, if mortals weren't convinced that gods didn't exist, then once people learned about the Chaos Gods, they would inevitably start believing in them.

That just seemed to be human nature.
