What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Chapter 547: Treasure Location

The entire pirate base was up in flames and I'm pretty sure there were no survivors.

I doubt they could even hide from Amber or Mara if they wanted to anyway…

Putting that aside, Ries tried to salvage whatever she could from the Spider Tank but with me blowing up the insides like that… There wasn't much she could take. She did try to salvage whatever she could so I guess there's still a possibility of getting something.

At least we got what we came for so I would say that was a win.

I couldn't wait so the moment Mara handed the memory stick to me, I climbed out of the power armour and stuck it into my Codex.

I then moved the files in it over and watched it do its magic before I opened it up to see what changed.

Hmm? It seems like it was definitely showing a map of the galaxy though there were still parts of it that were missing. But that didn't matter because there was now a blinking red dot on one part of the galaxy which was obviously where this map wanted us to go.

"Where is this?" I asked, projecting the map in front of me so the girls could see it too.

All of my girls leaned closer and squinted at the map, and I guess it was hard to see since the map was showing the entire galaxy and the red dot was covering quite a big cluster of stars.

I tried to see if I could zoom into the red dot by spreading my fingers outwards and sure enough, the map moved as I wanted it to.

I controlled the screen to zoom in more on the red dot until we could clearly see which star system it was pointing towards.

"Huh… That's an odd place…" Amber remarked.

Ries also took out her personal terminal and projected a map of the galaxy as well, overlaying it with mine.

She then zoomed in on the same spot and I very quickly realised that on her map, that spot was empty.

Not like, 'missing a big red blinking dot' empty but like 'there aren't any star systems in that area' empty.

"Ummm what does this mean? Is your map wrong, Ries?" I asked.

Ries made a face, "This is the standard galactic map though? Which means it's the most updated map of the galaxy…"

"So… Does this mean that the map here is wrong? Or maybe the stars here have somehow disappeared?"

"Or… They were deleted from the records," I suggested.

Ries turned to shake her head at me, "Deleted? From the entire GalNet? That's a pretty big deal don't you think? I don't even think that's possible for anyone to do…"

"Why isn't it possible? I mean… I get the concept where anything that appears on the internet stays on the internet but you sound really sure that it isn't possible."

"That's because it shouldn't be possible, Boss… This information is stored throughout the entirety of the GalNet. If anyone wishes to delete something like this… They would have to scrub through every single database of every known civilisation that has access to the galactic map and remove them. What's more, the galactic map in particular is constantly updating as new systems and stars are being found and scanned, which means the database is refreshing almost every second. Even if you start deleting one, they will be updated the next second for it to correct itself."

I made a face, "So in order for someone to do this… They will need to delete every single record of it all at the same time before it can be updated?"

Ries nodded her head at me.

"Right.. I don't suppose you can just select everything and press delete or something?"

She shook her head.

"So I guess now that we know it's impossible… Why is this map showing something different?"

Lea peeked at me, "Mistress… If I may be allowed to guess. I hypothesise that this star system might have existed before the AI Rebellion but was destroyed afterwards. Seeing that this tech predates the event, it might be a likely explanation as to why it's no longer there."

Ah, that might make more sense. There might be some kind of treasure there before the AI Rebellion but sometime during that time period, that system was wiped out and thus, the map was updated to reflect that.

I sighed, "Does that mean we went through this entire chase for nothing?"

The girls looked at each other and did not answer.

Well, it's already obvious from their faces that they thought the same thing as I did and I don't blame them.

"Well… How about we just go there and check it out anyway?" I suggested, pointing to the lines that showed Warp Gate paths. "Look, there should be a Warp Gate that will allow us to jump there from here."

"Boss… If the Warp Gate on the other side is destroyed… We will be stuck there though…"

That is true…

"Assuming we do jump there and the Warp Gate is destroyed… How could we leave that system?"

"Well… We would have to do the Alv way of travelling where we let the ship fly out into space and wait for it to reach the next star system in a few months or years…"

That's… Honestly shorter than I thought.

I remember that space travel back in my old universe took years for spacecraft to reach another planet, much less another star system.

I looked back at the map in front of me, "In that case… Let's say the worst case scenario came to pass and we had to go the long way to get out of the system. Will we be able to make the trip?"

"Yes," Lea answered immediately.

I blinked at her and it seems like I wasn't the only one who was surprised because the other girls were also looking at her with the same expression as I was.

Lea quickly explained, "We will not run out of food, Mistress. To be honest, we basically do not need to worry about feeding ourselves at all as long as the hydroponics garden, you and myself are fine."

"Well, no… I mean… I get the food part since we're growing them in the garden but wouldn't water be a problem?"

"I can grow fruits and vegetables that have water content so wwe would be able to save on our water intake. With our water purifier, we can also reuse the water if we have to so there is no problem even if we find ourselves stranded in space for a few years."

"Oh right… But… Why do you need me specifically?"

Lea actually blushed a little, "Because… I will need my power to make the plants grow… And intercourse with Mistress… Refills my power…"

Ah… I forgot about that…

Her Sage abilities are powered by sex with me… Go figure…

"Well… Even if that's the case, would we be bored out of our minds? We don't have cryo facilities after all so we're going to need to live through the entire time needed to travel."

"Mistress, you are looking at someone who is used to such things. And I believe all of us would not complain about needing to spend several years with you on the ship and nowhere else."

Ugh… I knew that was a dumb question to ask.

I bet if the girls would actually choose to be stuck floating in space with me for several years if the opportunity to do so with no repercussions presented itself to them…

I shrugged, "Alright then. In that case, I assume no one has a problem with going there to take a look anyway? Worst case scenario, we just have to spend a year or two in deep space flying back to civilisation?"

All of my girls nodded, a little too enthusiastically if you ask me…

Amber giggled, "Ehehehe~ I don't mind just spending a year or two in the same room as you, Tera~ Shall we head off right now?"

I turned off my Codex and climbed back into the power armour, "Not yet. I told you girls about the person who tried to bribe me into sabotaging Valiea didn't I? We still have that meetup to attend. Or more specifically, I have to go and meet with that person."

Ries looked a little worried, "Umm… What if it's a trap, Boss? Are you sure you want to go through with this?"

"Hmm? Weren't you girls the one who suggested this? If it's a trap, then I just shoot my way out of there and if it's not, I just take the money and leave while rejecting any offers they might give me."

"Unn… I suppose that's good enough… We'll just wait near the place in case anything happens then. Should we spend some time preparing first? Maybe change some of your power armour's armaments?"

I looked at the time in the corner of my vision and shook my head, "It's almost time to meet them and I'd rather not be late if I can help it. It'll be fine. So, shall we?"

The girls nodded and we headed back to the platform that will take us up and out of the first Ring.

Once we get that money, it'll be time to leave this station.
