Chapter 560: Bringing The Files Back For A Look
Well… All the androids got flattened and were destroyed just like that.
At least the ones that I already killed were still intact so we can bring one of those back for Ries to take a look at.
Well, that was what I thought she wanted at first before Ries's voice came through the comms again.
"Boss! Quick! See if you can connect your personal terminal to one of the androids!"
Errr… Sure?
I tapped on my wrist and attempted to do just that with one of the still relatively intact androids.
Surprisingly, I actually managed to do it and it's pretty much like connecting to a computer and several folders appeared on my screen.
"Take everything! Quick!!"
Not sure why she was rushing me but I did as she asked immediately.
The reason why became clear as some of the folders started disappearing right before my eyes. And since I was copying the files over instead of transferring, it was a sign that the folders were being deleted.
Shit… Is it because the android was destroyed and the files get deleted as part of a purge or something?
Nevertheless, I still managed to get about ninety percent of the files before the entire screen was wiped.
I tried to connect with the other androids to see if I can get anything else but all of them came up empty.
"Sorry Ries… I didn't manage to get all the files," I apologised.
"That's fine, Boss~ Could I just trouble you to grab one of them back for me to take a look at?"
Of course I didn't have a problem with that.
I randomly grabbed one and got out of there since I didn't fancy finding out if there were more androids hiding somewhere around the station.
Amber grabbed my hand and propelled us out of the station with me dragging the broken android behind me as we flew back towards the ship.
I chanced looking back, expecting a horde of androids flying after us but there was no such thing and we reached the ship without anything else happening.
The airlock cycled closed behind me and air started being vented in and the artificial gravity kicked in, allowing my feet to touch the floor.
Amber was still floating in the air and holding on to my wrist though, and I didn't feel the need to mention that to her.
Ries was already there waiting for me with several of her drones which she immediately directed to pick up the android from me.
"Welcome back Boss!!" Ries greeted me enthusiastically. "How was the zero gravity capabilities of the Power Armour?!"
I raised my arm to direct her attention to the weapons attached to it, "Well… I think we might need to get some laser weapons or at least something that doesn't push me back from shooting them in zero gravity."
"Ah… I see… That's right, I had indeed neglected that. I'll make sure to put that on the shopping list for the next station, Boss!"
I could tell the thought of going shopping for weapons was something she was already looking forward to with how her ears and tail were twitching.
So cute.
Amber was still holding on to me even as we made our way back to the workshop where I would store the Power Armour and for Ries to drop the android on one of her workstations.
As soon as I climbed out of the Power Armour though, Amber immediately lifted me up into the air with her telekinesis which surprised me quite a bit as I found my feet leaving the ground once more.
She then spun me to face her before she embraced me to give me a deep kiss.
My surprise gave way to affections as I wrapped my arms around her to kiss her back, enjoying the taste of her tongue on mine as we wrapped each other's tongue in a playful dance.
She finally pulled back after a full minute, her face flushed red and a trail of saliva still bridging between us.
"Not that I didn't enjoy it but… What's gotten into you?" I asked.
"Nnnghh… I was so worried when I saw those androids coming after you… And I was afraid I didn't have time to reach you…"
I couldn't help but let out a chuckle, "Just that? I was still in my Power Armour, you know? They wouldn't have been able to get to me anyway."
She intertwined her fingers with mine and held my hands in hers as she hugged them to her chest, "I was still worried… I didn't like that feeling…"
Hnnngg… When did Amber become even cuter?!
Ironically… I guess I can't really say much since I was also thinking Amber had been attacked and was trying to reach her as well.
I leaned forward and kissed her again, this time hugging her tighter against me.
We enjoyed each other for a bit more before I finally broke our kiss. That was when I remembered there was someone else in the room with us and spied Ries looking up at us from below.
Huh… I didn't even realise it but we were almost touching the ceiling already…
"Ah… Ermm… You can put us down now, Amber," I whispered.
She seemed to have realised that we were floating up in the air and quickly lowered us back down to the ground.
"So cool…" Ries muttered in an almost inaudible voice.
I guess the sight of us kissing while floating up in the air must have looked like it came straight out of a fairytale or something.
That realisation must have also dawned on Amber because she blushed an even deeper shade of red before she made an excuse and ran out of the workshop.
Huh… Despite the fact that she's quite aggressive in seeking affection from me, she's still quite pure in some aspects, huh?
Ries was still staring at me and I figured out what she wanted so I leaned down and gave her a kiss as well, my Maochatte making purring sounds the moment I did so.
I enjoyed the taste of Ries's tongue as well before pulling back, her eyes still a little clouded over before she snapped back to attention.
"Nyaa… Umm… Thank you Boss…" She muttered a little shyly.
So cute.
"So what did you need the android for?" I asked, changing the topic.
Ries also quickly recovered as she jumped towards one of her workstations, "Ah! That's right, Boss!! You got the files you downloaded from the research station right? Can you transfer them to my work terminal? I'll go through them and see what they are doing there!"
"Eh? I was under the impression that I would be the one going through them or something."
"Boss… There's no way I can ask the Captain of the ship to do a menial task like that… Don't worry, I can do it!"
"Well… I mean… I'm also kind of interested in it so I also have an interest in looking through the files as well," I admitted.
"Oh, in that case, we can look through them together, Boss! Here!"
I connected my Codex to the computer that was connected to one of her workstations, prompting a holographic screen to pop out to indicate the transfer of the files.
"I didn't get all the files from the android though, it seemed like it did a memory wipe when I was doing so… Probably as part of its security protocol or something."
Ries frowned and turned towards the android, "That's odd… The files just started deleting themselves?"
"Was that not normal?"
She paused for a moment, "Nnn… I wouldn't say that it's not 'normal' since this is something anyone can program on an android to do but… There's usually not much point for it unless you were using the android for illegal stuff… Or something that you don't want other people finding out."
"Isn't that just everyone? If I get us an android, I'm pretty sure they would have our conversations and stuff recorded which I don't want falling into other people's hands."
"Hmm… That is true as well… But I have a feeling… Let's just see what we got from the files you transferred, Boss. We'll start from the files you got from the station archives."
She started by opening the first few files and even more windows popped up as she scrolled through them slowly.
Honestly, even though I said I wanted to see what was in them, a lot of the stuff that was written in those files made no sense to me as they were using some terms that I didn't understand and it honestly looked more like a bunch of programming script than anything that a person might have typed themselves.
But Ries seemed to understand as she was staring at the screens intently and had even gone silent as she read through each file with an intense look on her face
I was just debating on whether it would be a good idea to interrupt her thinking by asking what she was looking at when she suddenly turned to me.
"Boss… This was an AI research station…"
Eh?
