When Love and Fire Meet

Chapter 9: The Next Day

Shortly after my abrupt burst of anger, I found myself in my chamber staring up at Robb. I turned over onto my side not wanting to look at him in the face embraced. Ever since the return of magic, I hadn't been myself lately. I heard the winning of horses outside in the courtyard as the royal procession got ready to leave the North to head back to Kings Landing. Lord Stark had joined King Robert along with his daughters Sansa and Arya. His bastard son, Jon Snow had joined him as well. The boy was thinking of taking the Black.

During my outbreak yesterday, Feiro had sensed my anger and thought I was in danger. He had taken to the sky to defend Winterfell. The bond between dragon and rider was strong. Or so that's what history told us. I found out just how strong it was that night.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. "My love?" It was Robb.

"Leave me."

Robb nodded feeling like he had failed me as betrothed. He turned to one of the ladies-in-waiting who had followed me on the journey to Winterfell. "Make sure she fully heals. I don't know what happened the other day, but I'm worried about her."

The girl bowed. "Yes, My Lord."

Meanwhile in the courtyard people were getting ready to prepare their horses. Knights of Houses Lannister, Baratheon, and Stark had already mounted their houses. Carts were preparing goods and other items that men would need on their way back to the capital. Lady Stark was helping her daughters with final lessons about manners. "Now, girls you must remember that King's Landing is a nosy place but you need to understand that as represent the Starks."

Sansa nodded. "Yes, mother. I'm looking forward to uniting our houses through my future marriage to Joffrey. He's so handsome."

Arya gagged. "Oh please. He's a horrible person. No honorable prince would commit the things that he has."

"Shut up. You don't know that."

"Girls, please," Caitlin said. "I need you both to behave."

Both girls nodded and climbed up onto the cart that would carry them to King's Landing.

Robb approached Jon who was saddling up his horse getting ready to join the Knights Watch. He smiled. "Well, I guess this is the last time I'll be seeing you, Snow." He gave Jon a massive hug. "You take care of yourself."

Jon nodded. "You seem to keeping yourself busy with Katherine." He glanced up at my chambers. "What happened to her yesterday?"

Robb sighed. "I don't know. She won't tell me."

At the head of the party, King Robert was already waiting along with Lord Stark and his daughter Barabra. "I can't wait all day. We need to get going. That encounter with the dragon nearly killed me." He looked at men that had fully saddled their horses. "Let's move out."
