Chapter 15: Chapter 15 – Veins of Fire
In the Heaven Realm – Mariano's Chamber
The walls of the room were pure white marble, glowing faintly under the divine aura that hovered in the Heaven Realm. The space was vast, but even its beauty felt cold and empty to Irin. She stood near the crystal window, watching the clouds drift slowly beyond the sacred skies. Her arms were folded, her shoulders trembling slightly.
Tears silently rolled down her cheeks. Her reflection on the window was blurred by her pain.
Footsteps echoed softly behind her. Mariano, the high priestess of the Heaven Realm, entered with grace, her expression gentle. She approached Irin and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Irin," she called softly.
Irin turned slowly, her face soaked with sorrow, her eyes red from crying.
Mariano sighed. "If you're still like this, the Ancestors will think I never cared for you," she said with a mock scold, trying to comfort her. "Didn't you hear what they told me? 'Look after her like you would her mother.' That's what they said."
At those words, Irin couldn't hold it any longer. She leaned forward and hugged Mariano tightly, burying her face in her shoulder.
"I can't control myself… I—" Irin broke down, sobbing.
Mariano gently stroked her hair. "Are you thinking about Dylan?"
Irin paused. Her breath hitched.
Mariano smiled faintly. "Nothing can harm him. He's not just any demon. He's Dylan. He's stronger than fate."
"But I…," Irin whispered.
Mariano conjured a glowing mirror in her hand and held it before Irin. The magical glass flickered to life, revealing Dylan lying in his bed, half-sitting up. His eyes, tired yet fiery, stared ahead.
"…Where is Irin?" Dylan asked weakly.
Ruther stood beside him. "She's gone to the Heaven Realm…"
Dylan looked away, his jaw clenched, his aura dim.
The image faded.
Irin's lips quivered. A single teardrop slid down her cheek.
"See?" Mariano said, gently. "He's alright. He asked for you. He's still fighting. Now do you believe me?"
Irin wiped her tears and nodded slowly. "Thank you…"
Mariano smiled. "Good girl. Now be brave—for both of you."
In the Purple Demon Palace – Liora's Chamber
Dark flames danced in the torches lining the obsidian walls. Liora, ruler of the Purple Demon Clan, lounged on her throne. Her fingers tapped on the stone armrest, her other hand still clutching the memory glass that held echoes of the past.
A guard stepped forward and bowed. "A Heaven lady is here to see you, Your Majesty."
Liora's eyes narrowed. "A Heaven lady? Who let her in?"
Before the guard could answer, the doors opened and a figure stepped into the chamber—Fiona.
Liora's eyes turned sharp. Without hesitation, she summoned her sword and hurled it toward Fiona.
CLANG!
Fiona stopped the flying blade midair with her magic, holding it inches from her neck.
"I'm not here to fight," Fiona said calmly, lowering the sword with a wave of her hand. "I need your help."
Liora leaned back. "Help? From me?"
"I want your blood," Fiona said without flinching.
Liora raised her eyebrows in amusement. "And what for?"
"To break the seal in the Great Lava Underworld."
Liora chuckled. "You can't."
"I can," Fiona replied sharply.
Liora's gaze sharpened. "And what do I get in return for giving you something so rare?"
Fiona asked firmly, "What do you want?"
"I want the Goddess born twenty-five years ago."
Fiona's eyes flickered. "The Goddess? But… no one knows where she is. Not even Heaven or the Demons."
Liora's smile faded. "Then forget this deal."
Fiona hesitated, then spoke firmly. "I'll bring her to you."
Liora studied her with interest. "That's smart," she said finally.
Without another word, she pulled a dagger from her side and sliced across her palm. Dark purple blood flowed from the wound like molten stars.
"Where's the Glass Globe?" Liora asked.
Fiona pulled out the shimmering artifact—an Ancient Glass Globe. As the blood dripped into it, the orb absorbed the liquid, glowing brighter with each drop. The blood began circling inside it like a galaxy of fire.
Liora narrowed her eyes. "How did you get this?"
"From the Forbidden Treasure Room," Fiona answered honestly. "In the Heaven Realm."
Liora gave a smirk of admiration. "If you try to ignore the promise we made… you'll lose everything you're fighting for."
Fiona paused at the chamber doors, turning back one last time. Her voice steady.
"I don't break my promises."
Then she vanished into shadows.
