Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Tenten
Chapter 101: Tenten
Ino had already made a round trip to the Hidden Mist Village, earning her the title of a seasoned veteran. Seeing Kurenai patiently and meticulously explain the village exit procedures to Hinata, it suddenly dawned on her wow, Hinata had never left the village before?
Thinking about it more carefully, it made sense. The Byakugan of the Hyuga main family was far too precious. It was entirely possible that someone might take desperate measures to obtain it.
Leaving the village was dangerous, but Hinata couldn't stay in the village forever. Not just her, even Hyuga Hizashi and Hyuga Hiashi, the brothers of the Hyuga clan, had once fought on the battlefield.
If they could go to the battlefield, then Hinata could certainly leave the village for missions.
They couldn't let fear hold them back. Hinata needed training, and this mission to monitor Hanare wasn't too difficult but also not too simple. With three female ninjas accompanying her, the safety factor was greatly increased, making it a good opportunity for training.
Just as the four of them finished the village exit procedures, they saw two green figures and a cloud of dust rushing toward them from a distance.
"Tenten! You must give it your all on this mission!"
"Tenten! Guy-sensei and I will be cheering for you!"
"That's right, Tenten! Let your youth burn brightly! Boil over with passion!"
Might Guy and Rock Lee, the master and disciple duo, had run all the way here to see off their teammate, Tenten.
However, their passionate farewell made both the person involved and the onlookers feel extremely awkward.
Tenten clenched her fists, looking down at her toes, trying hard to suppress her embarrassment.
Kurenai covered her forehead and sighed softly.
Ino grabbed Hinata and swiftly moved five steps to the left, then peeked out, pretending to be a passerby who had nothing to do with the scene unfolding before her.
Hyuga Neji, also a teammate, acted much more normally. He arrived at the gate in the standard ninja running posture, whispered a few words of advice to Tenten, and then glanced over at Ino's group or more accurately, at Hinata.
"Lady Hinata, please be careful. Do not bring shame to the Hyuga clan."
Hinata lowered her head, her toes pointing inward, her voice as soft as a mosquito's. "I... I understand, Neji-nii-san."
Hyuga Neji, with his head held high and an air of arrogance, seemed like he wanted to say more, but Ino stepped in front of Hinata and said loudly, "You're Hyuga Neji, right? I've been wanting to spar with you. How about we have a match right now?"
Ino's victory over the three Hidden Mist ninjas wasn't a secret in certain circles. Inoichi, the king of internal competition, had already spread the word.
No one paid attention to the unknown Zabuza, but Chojuro was different.
Even though the Hidden Mist Village kept to itself, Chojuro, a young ninja who was highly regarded by the village, had caught the attention of intelligence departments in other villages.
Ninjas needed reputation. The titles of the Sannin, the White Fang of the Leaf, and the Yellow Flash of the Leaf were all built on their own strength, but the village's promotion also played a part.
The Hidden Mist Village had already established Chojuro as a young genius.
This kind of reputation was also part of the training. If he could overcome all obstacles, he would naturally gain both fame and fortune, transforming from a young genius into a true genius, and eventually becoming a figure that ordinary ninjas would look up to. If he died prematurely, the village would simply find someone else to cultivate, with no significant loss.
Ino's skillful water-style techniques had defeated Chojuro, earning her quite a bit of attention.
She wasn't at the level of being called the "Second Tobirama," but she had already gained some fame.
Now, she was challenging Hyuga Neji, the top graduate of the previous year's ninja academy. No one could find fault with that.
Might Guy and Rock Lee, who had come to see Tenten off, raised their fists passionately, shouting excitedly, "Accept her challenge!" "Accept it!"
Kotetsu Hagane, who was guarding the gate, looked utterly speechless. After much persuasion, he finally managed to calm down the two instigators.
Hyuga Neji, with his calm personality, had heard about Ino's achievements and was somewhat tempted. But considering the current environment and timing, he quickly suppressed his impulse. "You're participating in this year's Chunin Exams, right? I'll accept your challenge then."
He gave a slight nod to Hinata and left alone.
The four female ninjas walked out of the Konoha gate, with Might Guy and Rock Lee still waving vigorously behind them. "Everyone! Youth knows no bounds! Please run on the path you believe in!"
At the village gate, under the setting sun, Ino thought she could even hear the sound of waves crashing against the rocks.
She couldn't stand such a passionate scene and quickly pulled Hinata away.
Kurenai followed closely, with Tenten trailing behind, looking like she was about to collapse.
Once they were free from the passionate master-disciple duo, their group became much more normal.
With Hinata's Byakugan in the team, they no longer needed Ino, the amateur, to handle reconnaissance.
Among the four, Ino, Kurenai, and Tenten each had different specialties ninjutsu, genjutsu, and weapon techniques, respectively.
In terms of attack range, excluding Kakuzu's shuriken thrown from miles away, ninjutsu had the largest range, followed by weapon techniques, and genjutsu had the smallest range, often requiring close proximity to be effective.
They came up with a temporary tactic, essentially a ninja version of a three-stage attack.
When encountering enemies, Ino would first use large-scale ninjutsu to clear the area, followed by Tenten throwing weapons to finish off any remaining enemies. If there were still enemies left after two rounds of attacks, they would likely be strong ninjas, and Kurenai's genjutsu would be perfect for dealing with them.
If the enemies weren't affected by the genjutsu or managed to break free, Ino, who had already retreated to the rear, could launch another round of ninjutsu, followed by Tenten's weapon throws, and then Kurenai's genjutsu again.
Hinata's role was reconnaissance. If they encountered enemies they couldn't handle, they wouldn't worry about Hanare anymore they'd just run!
This was Hinata's first time leaving the village, and she was extremely cautious, using her Byakugan at the slightest sign of movement.
On the way, Ino told Hinata about the experiences of Team 7 (Naruto's team) and her own Team 10 during their first mission outside the village, where they eliminated a group of bandits.
She also shared some interesting stories from their time in the Land of Waves and the Land of Water. Despite this, Hinata remained tense.
On the afternoon they left the village, Hanare also received permission from the village. Dressed in standard ninja attire, she left Konoha.
Whether she was trying to prove her loyalty or harboring ulterior motives, the four of them relied on Hinata's Byakugan to follow her from a distance, observing where she went and who she contacted.
They spent two full days traveling. On the evening of the second day, Hanare found a valley to rest in, and the four female ninjas monitoring her set up camp on a sheltered slope halfway up the mountain.
The night watch and continued surveillance couldn't stop.
They divided into two shifts.
Ino, who also had detection abilities, took the first shift with Tenten.
Hinata, being inexperienced, took the second shift with Kurenai.
None of them had any objections.
Without Choji around, they couldn't have cooked meals. Each of them ate two cold rice balls for dinner, and then Kurenai took Hinata to rest.
Only Ino and Tenten remained in front of the tent.
Keeping watch was tedious and most likely to feel sleepy, so they started chatting to pass the time.
