World of Data

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: No longer we just he

We arrived with him.

The moment we stepped through the door, the world changed.

Blinding light, so bright, so overwhelming.

He shielded his eyes.

But for us...

There was no light.

Only darkness.

A vast, endless void, stretching across the sky of numbers.

A chasm of nothingness, pulling us away.

Dragging us into the abyss.

"Heeey!" He called out.

His voice echoed, but it could not reach us.

We were falling.

Or were we being erased?

Was this what they called a plothole?

Was this a glitch?

Was this our end?

He tried to help.

He extended his hand.

But we were already slipping beyond reach.

Too late.

The void swallowed us.

Erasing us from the sky of numbers.

And as we vanished.

He remained.

For us, this was the end.

But for him...

This was only the beginning.

Anakin wandered through the vast city of internet, his small footsteps echoing against the neon-lit streets. Towering skyscrapers, made of shimmering lines of code, pulsed with shifting colors. The sky above was a swirling storm of symbols, numbers, and glowing pathways, stretching infinitely in all directions.

But despite its beauty, the city felt empty.

He had no guide, no sense of direction, only the overwhelming need to find his lost companion.

As he turned a corner, a flicker of red light caught his eye.

A creature stood before him.

A fox.

But this was no ordinary fox, its fur burned with a constant, flickering flame, its tail leaving behind embers in the air. Its piercing golden eyes locked onto him, intelligent and knowing.

Anakin took a cautious step forward. "Hi there," he said, keeping his voice steady. "My name is Anakin."

The fox did not respond.

It simply watched.

Then, without warning...

It spat fire straight at him.

Anakin flinched, throwing his arms up instinctively, but the flames didn't burn. Instead, the heat washed over him, surrounding him, filling him with a strange, crackling energy.

His mind shifted.

His thoughts became clearer.

This is Firefox, he realized.

Somehow, he just knew. This creature was not just a fox, it was knowledge, a search engine, an answer-giver.

If anyone could help him, it was this being.

Without hesitation, he asked, "How do I find my lost friend?"

The fox's mouth opened, but the voice that came out was distorted, layered, mechanical.

"Facebook. Google. Search for them there."

Before Anakin could react, the fox's body ignited into a burst of flames, twisting and curling into the air. The embers faded, the heat vanished.

And he was alone again.

But now, he had a clue.

He turned his gaze toward the towering structures of data, their glowing signs flickering with familiar words.

Google.

Facebook.

The fox had given him an answer.

Now, he had to figure out what it meant.
