Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Google? Facebook?
Anakin stood in the neon-lit streets of the City of the Internet, his thoughts racing. The fox, Firefox had vanished, leaving only a lingering warmth in the air.
The words it had spoken echoed in his mind.
"Facebook. Google. Search for them there."
He turned his gaze upward. The massive structures of data pulsed with light, stretching endlessly toward the sky of shifting symbols.
Google. Facebook.
The names glowed above the buildings, etched in ever-changing streams of code.
If these were places, then maybe, just maybe, they held the answer he was looking for.
His lost companion, we, was somewhere in this world.
And he would find them.
The streets hummed with energy as Anakin moved forward, weaving through empty roads lined with holographic billboards. Each advertisement flickered with strange messages:
"Optimize Your Search!"
"Upgrade Your Data Processing Now!"
"Sponsored Content: Find What You Need Instantly!"
"Win Iphone 17 with one click"
"Want to have partner? Click here for nearby hot girl"
The city was alive, but it was also... hollow.
No people.
No voices.
Only the constant buzz of unseen data flowing through the air.
He reached an intersection, where a colossal sign split the road into two paths:
Which way?
Which place held the answer?
Anakin hesitated.
Anakin made his choice.
He picked Google.
The moment he stepped forward, the city around him shifted.
The glowing roads pulsed, redirecting him toward the towering structure at the heart of the digital metropolis, Google HQ.
It loomed above the rest, stretching so high it seemed to pierce the swirling sky of numbers. Lines of neon-blue data flowed up its surface like rivers of pure information. Countless windows flashed with text, images, and videos, each updating in real-time.
The sheer size of it overwhelmed him.
"This place... holds everything," Anakin murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
How could a single entity contain all this knowledge?
As he approached the massive glass entrance, the city's lights reacted.
Holograms materialized around him, glowing screens flashing advertisements in his path.
"The Best Answers, Instantly!"
"Boost Your Intelligence with AI-Powered Search!"
"Find What You Need, Anytime, Anywhere!"
But some were… stranger.
"Meet Single AI Companions Now!"
"Enhance Your Experience with Premium Data Streams!"
"Deep Web Access: Dare to Explore?"
Anakin frowned. "What... is all this?"
He ignored the distractions, pushing forward into the entrance hall.
Inside, the walls were lined with floating data streams, lines of code suspended in midair, constantly shifting, rewriting, updating.
It was alive.
Everything here was alive.
Anakin continued deeper inside, his eyes scanning the massive structure.
Countless digital workers, faceless entities made of glowing data—moved about, managing the endless flow of information.
Anakin can see name of those data, Wikipidia, Tiktok, Youtube... and many more.. even the one that start with P and end with B
Above, he saw columns of light, thick beams of pure number of 0 and 1, shooting toward the top of the building. These must be search queries, billions of them, processed and delivered in mere moments.
"This place is..." he whispered in awe.
Then—
THOOM.
A low, distant rumble vibrated through the floor.
Anakin froze.
The digital entities around him didn't react.
They continued their work, unaffected.
THOOM.
This time, the tremor was stronger.
He felt it through his whole body.
The force warning him
Something big was moving.
And it was getting closer.
His breath quickened.
"Something's wrong," he muttered.
The ground beneath him shook violently, making the streams of data flicker. Some windows of information glitched, lines of text breaking apart.
Then, for the first time, the faceless digital workers paused.
They turned.
All of them.
Their featureless faces aimed at the source of the disturbance.
Something was coming.
Something huge.
Anakin clenched his fists, feeling the weight of his lightsaber at his side.
Whatever it was...
He had a feeling it wasn't friendly.
