Chapter 32 - You Damn Ants!
Chapter 32: You Damn Ants!
Thirty miles away, Zhang Fancheng and Jingang were desperately searching for Xiao Yu.
They had no choice—their cultivation levels were far lower, and Xiao Yu’s speed was too great. They had lost track of him and had yet to locate the monster’s lair.
“Junior Brother Zhang, did you hear that? There’s an explosion ahead!”
Jingang came to an abrupt stop and turned to Zhang Fancheng.
“I heard it. Such a loud explosion must mean Senior Brother Xiao is battling the monster. Let’s hurry to support him!” Zhang Fancheng said anxiously.
“Right!” Jingang rumbled in agreement.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Under the moonlight, the pair flew over the ancient forest on their artefacts, swiftly approaching the source of the explosion.
When they arrived at an abandoned mine, they found the mountains reduced to rubble. What was once a towering peak had vanished, replaced by a massive crater.
As they gawked in astonishment, the ground in the crater suddenly trembled. Soil erupted into the air as a young man in blue burst forth.
Hovering mid-air, the youth cast a minor spell, ridding his body of dirt and dust. His garments now pristine, he exuded an otherworldly elegance.
“Senior Brother Xiao!” Zhang Fancheng and Jingang exclaimed in unison.
“Ah, you’re here,” Xiao Yu said with a faint smile, flying over to them.
“Senior Brother, we came as soon as we heard the explosion. Are you hurt? Is the monster dead?” Zhang Fancheng asked with concern. He marvelled at Xiao Yu’s strength—levelling a mountain in combat was a feat far beyond his grasp.
“I’m fine,” Xiao Yu replied with a gentle smile. “As for whether it’s dead, I’m not entirely sure yet.”
“As long as you’re unharmed,” Zhang Fancheng sighed in relief.
“Leave the rest to us,” Jingang said resolutely.
What they failed to realise was that Xiao Yu wasn’t referring to the monster but rather Li Xun.
While they spoke, a dishevelled figure emerged from the rubble. Covered in dust and grime, a red-clad youth crawled out of the debris. With a purification spell, he restored his appearance to immaculate cleanliness—it was none other than Li Xun.
“You bastard!” Li Xun glared furiously at Xiao Yu.
The clash between Xiao Yu’s Myriad Sword Heavenly Dragon and Li Xun’s Nine Suns Burning Heaven had caused a catastrophic explosion, collapsing the tunnel entirely. Li Xun’s formidable cultivation had spared him from being buried alive.
“So, he survived,” Xiao Yu thought, impressed by Li Xun’s resilience. As a prodigy of the Burning Heaven Valley, Li Xun’s vitality was indeed extraordinary.
“Is that the monster?”
Zhang Fancheng eyed Li Xun with hostility, gripping his fire-starting rod as though ready to strike. In his mind, the “monster” had taken on human form.
“No wonder the commotion was so intense. It’s already taken human shape. Too bad you’ve met me. Prepare to die!”
Jingang mistook Li Xun for the creature that had terrorised their town. Infusing his wolf-tooth mace with golden spiritual energy, he swung it with blinding brilliance at Li Xun.
“Begone!”
Irritated and already in a foul mood, Li Xun summoned his Nine Suns Ruler. The ensuing clash sent Jingang flying, carving a deep trench in the ground where he landed. Fortunately, Jingang’s body was as durable as stone, thanks to his sect’s external techniques. A weaker Foundation Establishment cultivator would have perished.
“Monster! Surrender at once!”
Zhang Fancheng brandished his blackened, menacing fire-starting rod. The ugly, sinister artefact shot towards Li Xun, its crimson orb glowing with ominous bloodlight.
“What is this vile thing?”
Initially dismissive of Zhang Fancheng, Li Xun was startled by the rod’s overwhelming malice. The sinister aura left him nauseated and disoriented.
Clang!
The Nine Suns Ruler collided with the fire-starting rod. To Li Xun’s shock, the rod’s bloodthirsty energy seeped through the artefact, draining his life force and leaving him weak.
“Taste my mace!”
While Li Xun grappled with the rod’s effects, Jingang roared from behind. He had recovered and was once again charging, his wolf-tooth mace aimed squarely at Li Xun’s head.
“You damn ants!”
Furious, Li Xun unleashed his full power, activating the Burning Heaven Codex. His explosive surge of energy repelled both artefacts and forced Jingang to retreat several steps.
“Junior Brother Zhang, this monster is tricky. Are you hurt?” Jingang, though unscathed thanks to his physical resilience, glanced at Zhang Fancheng while keeping his guard up.
