Yellowstone: Wind in the Smoke

Chapter 93: Continuous Encounters Part 2

Low-Security Prison, London

Bobby Glass, father of Susie and Jack, was seen by many as a broken man doomed to spend the rest of his life in prison. But in the underworld, Bobby was still the leader of the illegal cannabis business. Though behind bars, Dante knew this man remained a dominant figure in the criminal world.

"Where is my son?" Bobby picked up the phone, his voice filled with fury.

"All I know is what I just told you—your son has vanished off the radar, while your daughter is indulging herself after coming to London to watch Jack's fight." The voice on the other end sounded anxious, as if they had exhausted all possible leads.

Bobby scoffed, murmuring, "That bastard involved us in problems far beyond our reach, tied to the High Order. I knew it was a mistake doing business with someone intent on seizing power in New York, regardless of the consequences."

Even within prison walls, Bobby knew the dark secrets surrounding the Sons of Anarchy, including their recent ties with Felipe Lobos' cartel. Lobos practically ruled Mexico and openly challenged the Tarasov family's mafia.

Little was known about the leader of that Russian mafia—only that Viggo Tarasov had inherited leadership after his father's death. A man who rivaled him was Stanley Johnston, a powerful American running a meth empire.

The Sons of Anarchy, however, had emerged seemingly out of nowhere, backed by a formidable force that quickly established them as a highly organized group, consuming New York's gangs with alarming speed.

When his daughter traveled to the U.S. out of concern that their biggest partner might become independent, Bobby knew it was a mistake. Now, the situation had escalated to a point where confronting the High Order was nothing short of suicide.

"Mr. Glass…" A prison guard approached Bobby in the open yard near an artificial lake. The guard had noticed Bobby's foul mood since the morning and informed him that someone was there to see him.

"What the hell do you want?" Bobby, feeling the impending doom of the Glass family, shouted angrily.

"It's your daughter."

At that moment, a female voice spoke from behind. "Forget it. We're already here."

Bobby turned to see his daughter, followed by the man who had caused so much trouble. He muttered, "Of course, he's here."

"Dad, we owe him a lot," Susie quickly interrupted her father's displeased remarks and introduced Dante at her side. "This is…"

"I know exactly who he is," Bobby said, stepping toward Dante with a piercing gaze. "You're the source of our problems."

"Dad…"

Dante shook his head and calmly replied, "I understand the misunderstanding, Mr. Glass. But there's no need to worry anymore—I've resolved all the issues."

"And how exactly did you manage that?" Bobby's information indicated nothing of the sort, making it clear he wasn't in control of the situation.

"We're not here to discuss those issues. I'm here to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage." Dante walked toward the lake, with Bobby close behind.

The two men moved away from Susie to speak privately. Once out of earshot, Bobby spoke coldly, "Get out of London and stay away from my daughter."

"You're a funny man, Mr. Glass, but I obviously won't do that. I love your daughter, and I'm certain the feeling is mutual," Dante said confidently.

"You…" Bobby was stunned, his initial instinct urging him to strike Dante.

But as a shrewd businessman, he restrained himself.

"To my understanding, your daughter currently runs your operations, but she holds no authority over significant decisions. As her future husband, I will grant Susie control over my organization so she can do as she pleases," Dante stated calmly.

Clearly, by committing to marriage, Dante was willing to entrust half of his assets to Susie, giving her the power to make decisions freely.

Dante, who had never shared his resources before, fully understood the principles of chivalry toward a lady.

"Your daughter has worked for you like a mere recorder. Despite being a Glass, we both know she holds no real power."

"And how do you plan to make this work?" Bobby asked, his tone calmer, realizing he wasn't speaking with just any mafioso.

"By being honest," Dante replied without hesitation, glancing at his watch.

Dante turned to look at the woman who had stolen his heart.

Were his feelings not genuine? He was prepared to challenge the High Order for her, knowing he was the only one worthy of her beauty.

"You're unstable…" Bobby replied after hearing Dante's explanation.

"What?"

"We both know your second-largest business right now is cocaine. No one in my family deals with that kind of trade, and I won't let my daughter be involved, even if she loves you," Bobby declared firmly.

It's widely known that the cocaine trade is a dark world where the allure of quick money masks walls built on violence, desperation, and betrayal.

Each gram on the market carries risks that impact not only those directly involved but also unsuspecting victims. Cocaine is not just a drug; it's a poison that corrodes societies, distorting dreams, aspirations, and lives.

Bobby understood this all too well, explaining, "From the moment traffickers enter this business, they face constant danger—violence."

"Drug cartels, operating like military structures, enforce their rules with blood and fire. Those who disobey, betray, or fail to pay pay with their lives."

Dante knew this better than anyone. Unlike cannabis, cocaine's competition was fierce, alliances fragile, and mistakes often fatal.

The danger wasn't limited to top ranks but also affected small traffickers and couriers, often forced into the trade under life-threatening conditions.

Wars between cartels were bloody and devastating, turning cities into battlefields and neighborhoods into terror zones. Innocent lives were lost, and human life became disposable.

"I have control…" Dante insisted, unfazed, knowing the Sons of Anarchy were loyal to him and appreciated the opportunities given to their brothers-in-arms.

"Control? Don't make me laugh," Bobby scoffed with a mocking expression.

"Loyalty in the cocaine world is a relative concept. Alliances form and break at the whim of shifting interests, and betrayal is commonplace. The thirst for power and money breeds distrust, and no one can ever be sure their ally won't become an enemy overnight."

Corruption also permeated authorities, many seduced by the fortunes generated by the trade, becoming complicit.

That business was ten times riskier than cannabis and one of the reasons the Glass family had never engaged in it.

Dante sighed and asked, "What if I abandon the cocaine business? As I said, I'm willing to do anything for your daughter's hand. Hear me out, and you'll see I won't endanger her."
