Yellowstone: Wind in the Smoke

Chapter 95: In Combat

"Zz… We're under attack, I repeat, we're under attack!"

Boom!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

What would a sniper do if the element of surprise was stripped from their plan?

Dante lingered in the shadows, holding an assault rifle. He targeted the remaining snipers who couldn't be neutralized from other angles. His skill with firearms was formidable, making it easy to eliminate several enemies.

Everyone in his team had some level of proficiency with weapons, but Dante had the instincts and experience of someone trained as an assassin in his past life.

He controlled his breathing and steadied his movements, carefully aiming through the rifle's scope. Once he locked onto his targets, he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

One shot fired, but Dante didn't pause to confirm the hit. He knew with certainty that missing was impossible. He sprinted to another position, encountering a group of assassins.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As Dante moved, the person who had taken over the machine gun fired at his previous location, obliterating the wall he had just used for cover.

Fortunately, Dante was already gone.

"What the hell is going on?" Carlo demanded over the radio after hearing the premature gunfire. He couldn't see what was happening as he and his team searched for the attackers targeting the Corleone group.

"Zz… There are assassins in the area targeting us."

"What did you say?" Carlo was stunned by a loud explosion that erupted near him.

He was about to ask another question when suddenly—

Bang!

Before the machine gunner could react, their head exploded in a mist of blood.

Carlo, who had been firing at the convoy approaching their position, witnessed the sniper's precision as one of his men was taken down.

"Sniper! There's a damned sniper in the dark!" Carlo shouted to his men.

Realizing they were being ambushed, he issued orders to the assassins in the area.

Instantly, the attackers targeting Eddie's convoy sought cover, abandoning exposed firing positions.

Those in the nearby buildings understood the dire situation.

They were outside, exposed to a sniper who could be anywhere. Their surroundings consisted of wooden walls easily penetrated by bullets—hardly adequate cover.

Without hesitation, they tried to shield themselves.

But it was too late.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Several sniper shots rang out, killing those who attempted to locate the shooter.

No one wanted to die.

Everyone present was there for the million-dollar bounty on the head of the leader of the Sons of Anarchy.

Boom!

At that moment, the truck where Eddie had been moments earlier exploded, igniting a street-wide firefight.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Take cover!"

"Zz… Susie, do you copy?"

Dante advanced through the smoke, wielding a short knife. Spotting his targets, he moved swiftly, slitting the throats of several figures as he passed.

"Argh…"

Bang!

"Zz… I hear you. What are your orders?"

Dante, finishing off another figure hiding behind a wall, responded, "Zz… We're pulling out now. We've done enough for now."

"Zz… Understood. The team will pick you up shortly."

The operation had achieved more than enough. Although the mission aimed to eliminate the Corleone family, they were simply stirring the hornet's nest to assess how prepared the enemy was.

Now that most of the ambushes set by the assassins guarding the area had been dismantled, Dante planned to withdraw and regroup his men.

Emerging from the smoke, Dante made his way to a street where trucks awaited him. Minutes later, a dozen figures emerged from different directions and climbed into the vehicles.

"Casualties?" Dante asked, wiping blood from his face.

"Zero deaths, five wounded, but none seriously," one of his men reported.

Susie helped Dante clean the blood off his face. "Good choice wearing a red shirt. Bloodstains wouldn't look as good on a white one."

"Excellent taste, matching yours," Dante replied, taking Susie's hand and closing his eyes to compose himself.

Killing had become routine—though it was rarely this brazen in urban settings during his past life. But he had no choice.

The situation now was to wait and prepare. There was nothing more to do as the group headed to their rendezvous point.
