You Choose an Adopted Son, I Choose Madness

Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Step Forward and Confront Me!:

At the Su family villa, six o’clock in the evening.

The usually lively and cheerful living room was now enveloped in an oppressive silence, so quiet that even the sound of a needle dropping could be heard.

The person standing in the middle of this eerie stillness was Su Chen—someone who was often ignored, treated as if he were invisible. But today, all eyes were on him.

“Su Chen, why are you such a disgrace?”

“You’re the son of Hai City’s wealthiest man now, not an orphan from a shelter! Why can’t you get rid of your habit of stealing?!”

“Su Chen, hand over my stolen watch right now!”

“Who in this house doesn’t know that you’re the only one with this sneaky, thieving habit?!”

“Are you still trying to deny it? Are you?!”

The one shouting was a middle-aged man, his face twisted in anger as he pointed at Su Chen and berated him relentlessly.

Meanwhile, Su Chen stood in the center of the room, his gaze unfocused.

“Exactly! Su Chen, everyone knows that only you would steal in this house. Before you returned to the Su family, nothing ever went missing!”

“Still not admitting it?!”

“Even if you don’t confess, we all know you stole Dad’s watch!”

“Dad’s watch is a Patek Philippe, worth millions. You probably had never seen anything so valuable before, so you stole it out of greed!”

A girl with her hair tied up in a bun, dressed in an elegant brand-name dress, smirked in disdain. She curled her lips mockingly as she cast a sideways glance at Su Chen.

But Su Chen wasn’t paying attention to her words. His mind was racing. Was this the Chinese New Year of his second year back with the Su family?

Had he… been reborn?

He glanced at the family members surrounding him, sneering and belittling him. The realization settled in—he really had been reborn.

“Su Chen, be good now. Just return your father’s watch to him,” a gentle voice coaxed.

“Don’t worry, we won’t blame you,” said a woman dressed in a traditional qipao, her dark hair neatly tied up with a jade hairpin. She was Su Chen’s mother, Liu Yanran, a noblewoman from another wealthy family in Hai City. She had married Su Zhenxing for business reasons and bore him two daughters and a son.

“That’s right, brother,” another voice chimed in—a young man of Su Chen’s age, dressed in fine clothes, his face handsome and refined. “We all know you just couldn’t resist because you’ve never seen such an expensive watch before. Just return it to Dad, and we won’t be mad.”

The middle-aged man leading the accusations was Su Zhenxing, Su Chen’s biological father and the head of the Su family. He was a man whose word was law, both in society and within his household.

The girl who had sneered earlier was Su Qiqi, Su Chen’s second sister—a painter, and the person who looked down on him the most.

The refined woman in the qipao was his mother, Liu Yanran.

The young man speaking softly was his younger brother, Su Mu. A privileged, outstanding student with good looks and countless advantages stacked in his favor.

Seated beside Liu Yanran was another woman, dressed in a tailored suit with short, stylish hair and a strikingly beautiful face. Her brows were slightly furrowed in distaste as she observed Su Chen. She was Su Lili, the eldest daughter of the Su family. With their father’s support, she had already established her own clothing brand and was an emerging force in Hai City’s business world.

In his past life, on this very day, Su Chen had been accused of stealing his father’s watch. No matter how much he explained or pleaded, no one believed him.

From that day on, the label of “thief” followed him everywhere. At school, in society—wherever he went, his family constantly reminded others of his so-called crime. The stigma never left him.

It was only much later that he realized this had all been a setup, orchestrated by Su Qiqi to turn the family against him. But by the time he figured it out, it was too late.

Everyone already believed he was a thief.

In the end, his past self became a despised, isolated figure—no career, no marriage. At forty, he died in despair.

But death wasn’t the end. As a wandering soul, he observed a century’s worth of human nature.

Through those hundred years, he came to understand—his past self had wasted his life, too consumed by internal struggles.

This time, things would be different.

Rather than internalizing the pain, why not go mad and make others suffer instead?

In his previous life, Su Chen had desperately tried to prove his innocence.

But now?

He leaped into the air, his expression twisted with fury, shaking his head wildly as he roared:

“Who?! Who said I stole the watch?!”

“Who saw it?!”

“Who saw it?!”

“Step forward! Come on! Confront me! Right here, right now!”

The Su family members recoiled in shock, their bodies instinctively leaning back.

They were stunned.

What was wrong with Su Chen?!

He had been scolded like this before, but he had never reacted like this!

And what kind of reaction was this?!

Why was he acting so insane?!

Su Zhenxing, finally regaining his senses, exploded in rage. He pointed at Su Chen and roared:

“Ungrateful son! Ungrateful son!”

“Su Chen, what do you think you’re doing?!”

“Are you pretending to be crazy?!”

“Do you think acting like a madman will let you escape this?!”

“Hand over the watch! This won’t work on me!”

Hah… What a joke. No matter how he reacted, they had already decided he was the thief.

But this time, Su Chen wouldn’t let them pin this crime on him.

Ignoring Su Zhenxing completely, he continued jumping and screaming, his voice hoarse with fury.

“Stop dodging my question!”

“Answer me directly!”

“Who?! Who said I stole the watch?! Who saw me do it?!”

“Step forward and confront me!”

“If no one can prove it, then you’re all falsely accusing me!”

Su Qiqi, still sneering, glanced at Su Chen in disdain. Seeing him act like a madman only made her more contemptuous. Her lips curled as she taunted:

“Su Chen, in this house, no one but you would steal Dad’s watch. After all…”

She lifted her wrist, deliberately displaying her pink Patek Philippe watch. With a smug expression, she continued:

“After all, we all have Patek Philippe watches.”

“You’re the only one who’s never seen such an expensive watch before.”

“So you’re the only one who would steal it.”

Good. Su Chen had been wondering how to shift the blame onto Su Qiqi, but she had just walked right into it.

How thoughtful of her.

In a flash, Su Chen sprang toward Su Qiqi, gripping her shoulders tightly. He shook her, his fierce gaze locked onto hers as he shouted:

“It was you! It was you, Su Qiqi! You framed me, didn’t you?!”

“Tell me—what proof do you have that I stole it?!”

“Which eye of yours saw me do it?!”

“When did I steal it?!”

“Which hand did I use?!”

“Speak! Answer me! Confront me!”
