Chapter 18: Overlord Elric Isekai Dilemma
The Overlord Elric slowly pulled his hand back, an uncertain look on his face.
"And… I'm planning to go to another world soon," he said calmly, his tone firm despite the storm of thoughts behind his eyes. "So I don't want to receive that power just yet."
His words caused a ripple among the other versions of himself.
One Piece Elric raised an eyebrow and tilted his head like a confused dog. "Why not? You're literally turning down a super op powers and very cool one at that.
Overlord Elric nodded solemnly, but his expression remained thoughtful.
"There's too much uncertainty," he muttered. "We don't even know how Momonga traveled to the New World. There's no mention of whether he moved with just his soul, if his body got teleported and transformed into his game avatar, or if…...
There is a theory in his previous life.
"That the person who went there wasn't even Momonga?" he continued. "the real him never crossed to that world. What if a clone was made using his memories — a being molded from data and soul fragments, Suzuki Satoru?"
The room fell into a brief silence. Even Marvel Elric, who had usually scoffed at metaphysical worries, narrowed his eyes slightly.
"If that's the truth," Overlord Elric continued, "then it's over. There's nothing we can do. That version of me — or him — would be trapped in this world forever, a shell of someone else's soul."
He clenched his fist, as if rejecting that idea from the core of his being.
"But if it was the other two possibilities — if his soul transferred or his body transformed into his game character — then I still have a chance. A real chance to leave this miserable world behind."
Marvel Elric leaned forward slightly, his interest piqued. "You think accepting Ishiki's power now might ruin that chance?"
"Yes," Overlord Elric replied without hesitation. "Ishiki is a monster. Maybe the strongest in terms of raw energy in my world. If I accept that power now, my existence could become so distorted that Wild Magic — or whatever force pulled players into the New World — might not be able to recognize or act upon me."
He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. "In the original work, it was hinted that Platinum Dragon Lord's father experimented with Wild Magic, and that may have been what pulled the players from Yggdrasil into that world. If my existence changes too much… that magic might don't have enough power to transform me."
Marvel Elric crossed his arms. "You're not wrong. if you take the power now, the risk is too high."
Even if are transported somehow after receiving Ishiki's power, you will likely lose it, after your soul leave this body, or your body transform to another one.
And we don't if could share the same power again with you.
One Piece Elric frowned, frustrated. "But it's Isshiki's power! You're throwing away something insanely OP!"
Marvel Elric almost slapped him in his head," how can you became so stupid, you make me embarrassed, he just want to take the power after traveling to another world".
OH....
Overlord Elric said. "But imagine. If I manage to get to that world — a place where I can create anything before I go, with beauty's, luxury, and peace are all at my fingertips.
He opened his eyes, now filled with determination.
"Here, the world is distorted. You can't even go outside without wearing a mask. But there… I can become a god, a bunch of op NPC will treat me like a god.
An obscene lough escaped his mouth.
I already started preparing to travel to that world, after I recovered my previous life memory.
The room was silent again, but this time the silence was laced with respect.
Marvel Elric chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "Guess you're right. No need to take unnecessary risks.
"And most importantly". Overlord Elric continued, my life here isn't that horrible here. So, I am not desperate for power — not yet."
The three of them nodded. Overlord Elric's reasoning, while cautious, was solid.
But then, out of nowhere, One Piece Elric shouted with excitement, throwing his hands in the air.
"Oh, the Overlord world! Awesome! It's will be the perfect world for us! You just need to create a max-level character and fill them with the most broken skills and equipment."
He looked straight at Overlord Elric.
"You know, Momonga's not even that heavy in firepower. Sure, he can destroy a small mountain at best. But that doesn't matter in that world — because most of that world power are built around rule-based."
"Exactly," Overlord Elric nodded. "That world… it's just broken."
He gestured to the air, as though showing them an invisible magic.
"A tier 6 spell can stop time. Create a miniature black hole. Resurrect someone. These spells aren't just powerful — they're insane. But they're limited by that world's rules."
He smirked faintly. "If those rules don't apply in other worlds… then the power we will wield would be unimaginable."
Naruto Elric blinked. "Imagine creating a black hole the size of a basketball… then don't have to do anything just wait for it to swallow a solar system."
"And don't forget things like Time Stop and Instant Death," Naruto Elric added, visibly shivering. "Those are broken even in a game, let alone real life."
'Yea." Marvel Elric continued, if there effect remain the same, I will be almost invincible below a universal powerhouse.
The room burst into a mix of laughter and awe.
"But still," Marvel Elric said seriously, "we can't be hasty. Let's stick to the safe route for now."
Overlord Elric nodded.
"You made your point clear," One Piece Elric said with a small shrug. "So, what's your plan now? Did you already make your own guild or something?"
A brief silence followed.
Overlord Elric scratched the back of his head, awkwardly.
"...No," he admitted, a little embarrassed. "It's too late now."
The others blinked.
"Huh?"
"I mean… Yggdrasil's already dying. I only recovered my memories a month ago. The game's practically a ghost town now. They even announced that the servers are shutting down."
He looked away with a small sigh. "Most functions are already disabled. Creating new guilds? That's one of them. So, yeah… it's already too late."
