Chapter 559: 559. Fight to the Death!!

Sniff.

Sniff.

"Can you smell it, my dear sisters? Can you taste it, this rich flavor? Can you glimpse it, this power from the gods of another world?"

A chilling voice echoed across the snowfield, one that seemed to come from the depths of the underworld, a mournful wail like the cry of spirits or the shrill call of night-shift workers.

An unbearable cold crept up from their heels to the top of their heads. As the eerie sound filled the air, Valeria and Franklin shivered involuntarily, goosebumps rising on their skin.

"Run!"

Without hesitation, Shazam raised his hand, summoning a bolt of lightning straight towards the space behind Valeria. He also urged the others to move quickly.

Without any obstruction, the massive thunderbolt struck the writhing mass of worms.

"Pure divine magic."

A sharp, heart-wrenching laugh rang out, and Shazam's terrifying lightning failed to leave a single mark on the writhing creature.

Not only that, but the mass of worms wriggled even faster in the lightning, as if cheering for the thunder and continually absorbing its power.

In just a few breaths, the thick lightning that had been as wide as a thigh reduced to the size of a finger and quickly dissipated into the air.

"How is this possible?" Billy gritted his teeth. This was the first time he had seen such a strange thing.

Franklin, who was halfway running, turned and saw the scene. He widened his eyes in disbelief and called out, "You're the cause of all this! You're the ones who consumed the divine power here, hunting across various magical dimensions!"

"Oh, my dear child, you're absolutely right."

A massive form, over two meters tall, composed entirely of writhing worms, emerged. Above its "shoulders," a white stone statue of a woman began to form, seemingly meant to be its head.

"Sisters, do you sense it? Our little friend here carries an incredibly delicious and tempting scent!"

Behind the grotesque, worm-like body, two strange female creatures slowly emerged.

One was clad in purple armor, wearing a horned helmet, and carrying an enormous heavy sword on her back—she looked like a hulking medieval berserker.

The other wore a brown ceremonial robe, her face dried up and lacking eyes, yet her thin body had grown an extra pair of arms.

The one in the robe took a few steps forward, her eyeless face "looking" at Franklin.

"Child, you are unlike them."

"Stay away from my sister and me, you monsters!" Franklin immediately placed Valeria behind him, his eyes filled with hostility as he glared at the three eerie beings.

"Oh, child, you have no idea what power you possess. Or rather, you don't realize how delicious your body is to me."

The priest-like woman cracked a sinister smile, and a terrifying murderous intent descended upon the snowfield, enveloping everyone present.

Franklin nearly lost his balance and almost fell. He quickly raised a protective shield, enveloping himself and Valeria within, trying to resist the overwhelming mental force.

"Look at this, sisters, so much power, yet no ability to use it."

"We're going to have a delicious feast," the berserker laughed. "And it's a flavor we've never tasted before, hahahaha."

With a powerful step, the berserker lifted her massive sword and swung it directly at Franklin's position.

The heavy sword, glowing with golden light, struck the protective shield Franklin had cast, the immense force sending a shudder through his slender body. At the same time, the bluish protective shield cracked with spiderweb-like fractures.

"Next strike, and—"

The berserker lifted her heavy sword again.

At that moment, a fist struck with immense force. The berserker barely managed to turn and block it, but the next second, she was pushed back by an enormous force. Both fighters were sent flying over a hundred meters, crashing into the snowfield.

"With me here, you won't get anywhere!" Shazam said, getting up and taking a battle stance.

He knew that while his strike had been a sneak attack, it was clear the creature hadn't taken any real damage. The fact that his lightning had been absorbed by the other monster proved that the creatures were suppressing his abilities.

Fighting these three strange beings while protecting two children seemed like an increasingly dangerous situation.

But even so, Shazam showed no intention of retreating.

"Pitiful demigod, we originally planned to treat you as a dessert, but if you insist on seeking death, I'll oblige you," the berserker said, standing up slowly, her helmet revealing a purple-skinned chin. She grinned dangerously, her killing intent evident.

"Then come try me," Shazam said, charging forward without a second thought, throwing a punch straight at the berserker's head.

"Fine, then let me test your strength," the berserker replied.

A strange energy surged forward, an energy Billy had never encountered before. It took the shape of a crown floating above the berserker's head.

At the same time, the heavy sword in the berserker's hands erupted with a blinding light.

"Let me taste it!"

Shazam realized there was no time to retract his punch, so he unleashed a mighty thunderbolt from his fist, hurling it with tremendous force.

"Die!"

The punch collided with the sword, releasing destructive energy that blasted the snow off the ground, exposing the solid ice beneath.

Under the clash of these forces, cracks appeared in the ice beneath their feet.

"Okay, I underestimated you. I was wrong earlier. You now smell like a real god. So delicious!"

Shazam threw punch after punch, each carrying terrifying lightning, but they were all blocked by the opponent's massive sword. As the battle went on, Shazam found it increasingly difficult. Without a weapon, he couldn't mount a strong counterattack.

The power carried by the enemy's heavy sword was also extremely violent—any contact would cause harm, any glancing hit would be crippling. While defending himself, Shazam had to constantly be wary of the opponent's attacks, which quickly put him at a disadvantage.

"The blade is superior, little god! This is the true weapon of a warrior!"

The berserker parried Shazam's punch with force and thrust his sword. Shazam tried to dodge but was cut across the shoulder, blood spraying from the wound.

Seeing that his attack had succeeded, the berserker grinned wickedly and pressed down with the sword, seemingly intending to cleave Shazam in two.

Realizing the berserker's intention, Shazam quickly grabbed the sword's edge with both hands, desperately pushing upward.

"Your power..."

"Your lightning..."

"Your divine power..."

"All are traps for fools!"

The berserker looked at this god, trying to shake the tree like a mere insect, with a slightly crazed expression.

"Want to witness my power, little god? I think I can blind your other eye!"

"You're talking too much—Shazam!"

Billy felt his strength waning, unable to contend with the berserker any longer. Without hesitation, he recited the incantation.

In an instant, the skies changed, and an even more terrifying bolt of lightning struck down, directly enveloping Billy's body. The shockwave pushed the berserker back several steps.

Seizing the opportunity, Billy slid under the berserker's legs.

"Shazam!"

Another bolt of lightning fell.

Before the berserker had even regained his footing, Billy, fists filled with fury, struck him in the lower back.

The immense power, accompanied by lightning, sent the berserker flying, crashing into the faraway snowfield. The heavy sword was flung into the air, embedding itself in the ice.

"Ugh!"

Clutching his shoulder, Billy gasped from the intense pain. Aside from the earlier battle with the Paradooms, this was the first time he had been beaten so badly.

Even his divine body had been wounded.

There was no time to reflect on this. Billy turned his head toward the direction of Franklin and Valeria. He had not forgotten his responsibility.

As the oldest of the trio, as their older brother, he would never let his siblings suffer, even if it meant his life. Such a thing would never happen again.

"Help me—"

Franklin, with the help of the extremely agile Valeria, dodged the strange priestess's magical attacks. He tried to build a protective shield, but the enemy didn't give him a chance.

Every time Franklin barely formed a shield, a devastating magical blast would immediately strike, shattering it into pieces.

Moreover, Franklin had no real combat experience. In his panic and helplessness, he had no choice but to drag his sister around in an attempt to escape.

Seeing this, Billy's heart was filled with anxiety.

Just as he prepared to move to their aid, a sound came from behind him. To his shock, the berserker he had just knocked down had already gotten back up, completely unharmed.

Grinding his teeth, Billy ripped off his cloak.

"Magical Cloak, go!"

The red magical cloak, in tune with Billy's thoughts, flew through the air like a red blur, heading straight for Franklin.

As the strange priestess's magic shattered Franklin's shield and prepared for the next attack, the cloak appeared just in time.

The magical cloak quickly attached itself to Franklin's back, lifting both him and his sister high into the air.

The moment they left, a massive hole, two meters deep, was blasted into the ice where they had been standing, the shattered ice scattering everywhere.

"Don't even think about escaping!"

To Billy's surprise, the creature made of worms that had been silent all this time suddenly moved.

Its body of writhing worms began to convulse wildly, sprouting dozens of worm heads.

It didn't even need to aim. The terrifying compressed energy erupted from the heads of the worms, shooting out like lasers, covering the airborne Franklin and Valeria.

"This is bad!"

Billy clenched his fists, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Franklin, holding his sister with one hand, couldn't even gather energy in time with the other.

Their eyes reflected the lasers closing in.

They could only watch helplessly as the attacks came closer.

At that critical moment—

A black umbrella suddenly unfolded and abruptly blocked the lasers in front of the siblings.
